Chapter 305 - Begging For More

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
Emerson's car soon pulled up outside a beautiful mansion that overlooked the city. As a local, Avaleigh had traveled up to The Peak multiple times, but she had always caught the tram to the tourist lookout point, never had she been to the residential area. Although she had mingled with the rich and famous over the past few years, she still felt a little out of place here.

Avaleigh stepped out of the car and a middle-aged woman suddenly rushed over. "You must be Ava! Emerson told us you were coming. Come inside," she smiled.

Avaleigh looked at Emerson curiously as the woman started dragging her inside and Emerson smiled. "This is Aunt Lily," he said.

Aunt? Avaleigh realized, at that moment, that she may have misunderstood the man. When he said he was taking her home, she was imagining the two of them, all alone, under one roof, but as she walked in through the big double redwood doors, she noticed the sheer size of the place and realized how silly she had been. This was obviously his family home, and judging by the size, quite a few people lived inside. As soon as she walked through the door, she already saw a butler and four maids, and as Aunt Lily led her into the dining room, she also saw an old man sitting inside.

She had her guard up because of an experience she had in the past, but she realized she couldn't judge the present based on things that had happened in the past. Emerson was not her ex-boyfriend; he was a known gentleman. But, she couldn't help wonder what he meant when he said he would leave her 'begging for more'.

Avaleigh subconsciously glanced at her watch. It was already 11pm. Was it rude of her to intrude so late at night?

"I'm sorry to bother you so late at night," she said as Aunt Lily gestured for her to sit down.

Aunt Lily smiled, "No bother at all. Emerson doesn't bring guests often. Plus, he told us you were working late. Emerson often works late and comes home at this time too."

She then glanced at one of the maids and nodded her head.

Emerson soon joined them at the dining table. He had changed out of his hotel uniform and was wearing a collared shirt with black pants. As he sat down next to Avaleigh, he introduced the old man that was sitting at the table, "Ava, this is my father."

Father Wu eyed the woman up and down. Unlike Emerson, she was still dressed in a hotel cleaner's uniform so he wasn't too impressed. But, there was something familiar about her that he couldn't pinpoint. "What do you do, Miss Ava? Why were you still at work so late at night?"

Father Wu had been quite surprised when his son suddenly called home and said he was bringing a guest. Emerson barely brought guests home, and apart from Halia, this was the first woman, so he he was naturally curious about her.

Avaleigh noticed the old man looking at the uniform on her body and realized he may have mistaken her for a cleaner. But, just as she was about to explain, Emerson cut in, "She is the woman I like. Why does it matter what she does?"

Avaleigh was quite surprised by this response. Many men had pursued her in the past because she was a celebrity and they wanted to show her off to their friends and family, but this man didn't seem to care.

Father Wu narrowed his eyes and stared at Avaleigh, "I know my son is a great catch, plenty of women have been interested in him, but don't you think you're aiming too high?"

Emerson looked comfortingly at Avaleigh and said, "You've misunderstood. Ava isn't aiming for anything. I'm the one that's interested in her and I'm the one that's pursuing her. I don't even know if she likes me."

Father Wu almost fell out of his seat when he heard this. "Ridiculous! How could someone not like my son? Especially someone like her?" he yelled. His son was one of the most eligible bachelor's in Hong Kong. How could he not be good enough for a mere cleaner?

Avaleigh glanced down awkwardly as her heart raced.

Aunt Lily sensed the awkwardness and quickly tugged on Father Wu's sleeve. "Come on, it's getting late. Now that you've met your son's guest, let's go to bed," she whispered.

"But..." Father Wu still had more things to say, but Aunt Lily gestured for him to hush and started dragging him out.

After Father Wu and Aunt Lily left, Emerson looked at Avaleigh dotingly and spread a napkin on her lap. He then poured a glass of water and handed it to her. "You need to rehydrate as much as possible," he said thoughtfully.

Avaleigh accepted the glass and blushed a little.

A moment later, a few of the maids walked out with dishes of food and placed them on the dining table. Avaleigh scanned her eyes across the table. There was a nutritious abalone congee, a plate of ginger chicken, steamed vegetable dumplings, braised potato and a hot tofu pudding for dessert.

Avaleigh watched as Emerson filled a bowl of congee and placed it in front of her. "I specifically asked the kitchen to prepare this for you. I spoke to my nutritionist friend and she said these are light on your stomach and will help you recover faster," he said.

Avaleigh looked at all the food and felt her heart melt as she took a sip of the congee. This was the third meal that this man had prepared for her. No one had ever cared about her so much.

Suddenly, as the congee entered Avaleigh's mouth, her eyes lit up and her tastebuds tingled with satisfaction. She had never tasted congee as good as this before. Forgetting her table manners, she immediately finished the entire bowl and licked her lips with a smile. Her stomach had been emptied out today and it felt so good to fill it with something warm and fragrant. With a shy look on her face, she handed the bowl back to Emerson and asked, "Can I please have more?"

Emerson chuckled and nodded his head. As he refilled the bowl, he said quietly, "I told you you would be begging for more..."

Avaleigh heard this and almost burst into laughter. So this was what he meant by 'begging for more'. While she was having dirty and evil thoughts, this man was innocent and pure. Father Wu was right, how could any woman not like his son?
