Chapter 248 - The Top Drawer

Name:Help...My Wife is a Spy Author:Yunyi
A lot happened between Danson and Marissa that night. Most of which Marissa forgot. All she knew was, when she woke up the next morning, she was lying n.a.k.e.d next to Danson inside a hotel and her body was sore.

"You pervert!" she screamed as she kicked Danson out of bed.

Danson woke up and rubbed his eyes, "What's wrong, we've been together for almost 2 years, isn't it about time we slept together? Besides, you consented to it."

Marissa shook her head, "I would never consent to it!"

"Why not?" Danson asked with a smirk even though he already knew the answer.

"I-I-I...I was simply not ready for it..." Marissa lied as she grabbed her clothes.

Danson walked up behind Marissa and whispered beside her ear, "Were you not ready, or did you never intend on doing it with me? After all, you only dated me for my money..."

"What are you talking about?" Marissa asked awkwardly.

"I'm not stupid, Marissa. You used me so you could look good for Emerson, and now, you want to break up," Danson said.

Marissa looked at Danson in surprise. When did he find out?

Danson quickly put his clothes back on and walked towards the door. Without taking a glance at Marissa, he said, "Let's never meet again." He then left the hotel room with no intention to ever see her again.

After that, he also broke all ties with Emerson. He couldn't face his best friend when he knew that the woman he loved had used him to get close to this person. Plus, he believed they would eventually end up together and he didn't want to be around to witness it. But, Emerson had no idea what he did wrong and Danson refused to tell him.

Danson then transformed back into the person he once was, flirting with women and changing girlfriends often. But, no matter how hard he tried, Marissa left a scar in his heart that took a long time to heal and he hated her for it.

Then, 6 years later, just as he thought he was beginning to forget her, he returned home one day to find her sitting on the sofa in his living room. When he first saw her, he was shocked. She looked a little different: her nose was a little thinner, her lips were a little thicker and her b.r.e.a.s.ts were obviously fake, but he still recognized her. He could never forget her.

"What are you doing here?" he asked with frustration.

When Marissa saw him, she was also shocked.

At that moment, Danson's father walked in and wrapped his arm around the woman, "Danson, I would like you to meet your new stepmother."

"Stepmother?!" Danson exclaimed.

When Marissa first met Donald Qian, she had noticed that he shared the same surname as Danson, but it was a common surname and she didn't think it would be such a coincidence that they were related, let alone father and son.

Moreover, Danson was always out partying and flirting with girls and barely turned up to work, so his father wasn't particularly proud of him and only ever referred to him as 'the rascal'.

Who knew that this rascal was Danson Qian. A man that she never wanted to see again.

This unexpected turn of events threw Danson and Marissa back into each other's lives. And for 4 years, Danson put up with the fact that this woman was his stepmother.

Even though...he knew better than anyone that she was simply using his father to get to Emerson, he enjoyed seeing her struggle. It somehow eased his pain to see her like this.

Danson watched as Marissa stormed out of Roy's party. Even after 15 years, she still lost to the same girl. Danson smirked and followed her out. Was this woman finally giving up?

...

Not too far away, inside one of the bedrooms, Halia was frantically sweeping up the shattered glass on the floor and applying a bandaid to her fake injured finger.

"This should be it," she whispered to herself as she finished.

She then washed her dress lightly with water to get rid of the spilled gin from earlier and walked out of the bathroom.

But, just as she stepped out, she felt a tug on her arm. Before she knew it, she was wrapped tightly in Morton's embrace.

"It's you, isn't it Mars? You did all this to get close to me, didn't you?" he whispered beside her ear.

Halia quickly lifted her shoulders, twisted the man's arms and threw him onto the bed. How dare he hug her out of nowhere. Only Jackson was allowed to do that.

"Excuse me, Mr. Meng, please mind your actions. I don't know you and I don't know who this Mars person is. If you act inappropriately again, I will call the police," Halia warned.

Morton looked at the woman in surprise. How did she slip out of his embrace and throw him away so easily? And, did he really misunderstand? But...all the signs were there.

At that moment, there was a loud knock on the bedroom door. "Haili, are you in there?" a voice called anxiously.

Halia immediately recognized the voice and went to open the door. "There you are. What's taking you so long? I was getting worried about you," the man at the door said.

Morton looked over and saw the man. It was Emerson Wu.

"Are you OK?" he asked worriedly as he looked Halia up and down. He then noticed Morton lying on the bed and frowned, "What are you doing here?"

Morton quickly stood up and neatened his suit, "Miss Feng needed to use the bathroom, so I got her the keys. I was just resting here for a bit while I waited for her."

Roy appeared behind Emerson at that moment and said, "Oh, Morton, you should have told me you were with Miss Feng. She's a special guest. You've heard of her before, right? She's the heiress of Fengtai Corporation!"

Morton opened his eyes wide in surprise. Had he really made a mistake? Was this woman Haili Feng and not Mars Wu?

Roy noticed an awkward vibe and peered into the bedroom. That was when he noticed the top drawer of his bedside table was slightly open. A sly smile suddenly appeared on his face, "Morton, did you open the top drawer?"

Morton turned around and looked a the slightly open drawer. From where he was standing, he could clearly see the box of condoms sitting inside.

Of course, Emerson didn't know what was inside the drawer and was worried that Halia had left it open while she was searching around the room. So, he quickly looked at Halia in panic.

But, Halia looked at him reassuringly as Morton slammed the drawer shut. "No," he said with embarrassment as he gestured for everyone to leave the room.

Roy smirked and winked at his boss as Emerson looked at Halia in confusion. What was in that drawer? Why was there an odd vibe in that room?
