Chapter 74 - The Meeting Time

"Do you think of him as a friend?" Sean asked.

Cleo nodded without hesitation.

"Then you've answered your own question. You must have seen something good in him to consider him as a friend. From what I've seen, he's opening a restaurant soon and it's a proper legitimate business. Plus, he's a loyal friend that sticks by his friends and he's a generous person that cares about his workmates. I don't think there's anything wrong with someone like that," Sean answered honestly.

He had done a background check on Max before and his history was completely clear, so Sean was not concerned about this man. Otherwise, he would definitely tell Cleo to stay away from him.

Cleo admired Sean for his clear observation. He was right.

At that moment, she smiled at Sean and asked, "Can I be friends with you too?"

Sean laughed, "I thought we already were."

His smile was charming and he had a sophisticated presence that drew Cleo's interest. As she looked at him, she noticed his hair was a little messy on the back of his head. It looked completely out of place on this refined man, so she subconsciously stretched out her hand to help him neaten it.

"What happened to the back of your head," she laughed.

Sean touched his hair and quickly tried to smooth it out. "I must have run into something when I was going to the bathroom," he replied. But, he quickly realized it was caused by Halia. As he reminisced on the kiss from earlier, he felt tingles down his spine at the thought of Halia's fingers running through his hair. That was something that Sara used to do when he kissed her too. He felt his heart race when he thought about it.

At that moment, inside the staff kitchen of the karaoke bar, Max received a phone call while he was waiting for Sean's noodles to reheat. He glanced down at the caller ID and quickly picked it up.

"Tell your Boss..."

It was Pierre Caron and he was finally setting a time and place for his meeting with Jackson.

...

Downstairs, Jackson mopped up the floor and cleaned up the lab. He then returned to the bedroom to check on Halia. She had fallen asleep.

Jackson checked the time, it was already 8pm.

An entire day passed and they didn't do anything they were supposed to do. It was obvious that he was right, Halia had been deliberately distracting him. Jackson looked at the woman and smirked. Now that she was asleep, it was time to start working...

...

The next morning, Halia woke up to find Jackson asleep next to her. She quietly sneaked out of bed, trying her best not to wake him up. The longer he stayed asleep, the less time he would have to work on the bomb.

After she brushed her teeth and freshened up, Max arrived with breakfast and lunch. Halia gestured for Max to remain quiet so Jackson could sleep and Max did as told.

"When the Boss wakes up, tell him that Remy wants to meet him at 8pm tomorrow night in the cabin from last time," he whispered.

Halia nodded her head. Even God was on her side. There was no way she was relaying this information to Jackson.

"By the way, your friend came looking for you yesterday at your apartment. His name was Sean. He said happy birthday and asked when you'd be back so he could treat you to a meal. I'll be seeing him again today. What should I tell him?"

Halia smiled and quickly scribbled a little note. He then handed it to Max. "Give this to him," she said.

Max nodded as he shoved the note in his pocket and left. "I'll be back at dinner time," he said.

A few hours later, Jackson finally woke up. It was already midday.

He stepped out of the room to find Halia washing some dishes in the kitchenette, so he walked over and hugged her from behind.

Halia enjoyed the hug and secretly wished that she could wake up to a hug like that every single day. As she smiled, Jackson leaned forward and placed a kiss on her lips.

"Go brush your teeth," Halia giggled as she tilted her head.

Jackson laughed and wandered off to the bathroom obediently.

While he was in the bathroom, Halia walked over and yelled through the door, "Max came by earlier and said that Remy wants to meet you at 11pm tomorrow at the cabin from last time," she lied.

"OK," Jackson replied.

"To be honest, I don't think we can make the bomb in time," Halia said. "Why don't you just cancel the deal?"

At that time, Jackson stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to one of the storage closets. "Lucky I got started last night," he said as he opened it up.

Halia's heart sank as she looked at the man in surprise. Sitting inside the closet was a half completed bomb...

...

That afternoon, Max went to feed Coco and met Sean outside Halia's apartment.

"This is from Halia," Max said as he handed Sean the note from Halia.

"Thanks," Sean said as he received the note.

He then opened it up and looked at it secretly. The note read, "8pm, where I got my hair clip last time." Halia was smart, she wrote down something that only Sean would understand, just in case Max looked at the note.

Sean immediately remembered how he traced Halia's hairclip to a cabin last time and smiled.

"Tell her, I'll see her there. I'm looking forward to seeing her," he replied.
