Chapter 317 - Losing Control

**This chapter is not from only Chris' point of view. I have shuffled it between Jason, Harry and Chris.**

"They will notice the body soon," said Snape blocking Chris. He faced Stormy, his back to Chris, who was still staring at the empty place transfixed.

"So?" Stormy raised her eyebrows. "You want me to spare the girl or something?"

"Of course not," Snape said coldly. "I want, you to be quick."

"I will be, now step aside," Stormy said dismissively. Then turned to Graham. "Free the boy."

At once, Graham, who was waking up the other unconscious minion, freed Jason but held him by the arm so he doesn't run anywhere.

"Where are the keys?" Stormy asked Jason. "We have already searched her room. It's not there."

Jason gulped and looked at Chris. She was looking completely blank. Jason doubted if she was hearing anything that was going on. Guilt surged through him, he didn't want to do it anymore but he knew this was the way to save Chris. After the Keys are gone, they won't have any side effects on Chris. She will be normal.

"I asked you something, Fawley," snapped Stormy.

Jason tore his gaze from Chris and his eyes met Snape's. In the dark, for a second he thought Snape slightly shook his head to stop him from saying the truth but then. . . why would he do that? He killed Dumbledore. He can't want any good for Chris. Only he, Jason knew what's good for her even though she didn't.

"She has a locket," said Jason looking at Stormy. "With an undetectable extension charm on it. She keeps a lot of things in there."

With a smile, Stormy walked towards Chris and searched her neck, pulled out the locket then tore it from the neck. Chris didn't move at all. She sat there like a frozen, lifeless doll.

"Beautiful," Stormy said examining it. "But unfortunate. It's locked as I expected."

She blasted the locket. All of the things burst out from it. Books, boxes, potions. . .  Stormy started to look through them and finally found the glowing box, where Chris always put the Keys.

The Death Eaters, Minions and Werewolf leaned forward to see as Stormy opened the box with full excitement.

"Finally," she saw the keys and smiled. "Now Master can enter Hogwarts."

"Now, out of here, quickly," said Snape impatiently.

*

Stormy nodded to others and they started to leave. Sensing Jason's hesitation Snape seized him by the scruff of the neck and forced him through the door ahead of the rest. As they started to vanish through the door, Harry, who was paralyzed by Dumbledore under the invisibility cloak till now, realized he could move again. What was now holding him paralyzed against the wall was not magic, but horror and shock. He threw the Invisibility Cloak aside.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

His spell hit a Death Eater and the others, who hadn't left, turned around. Graham attacked Harry and almost knocked him over. Harry stopped himself from falling and attacked again but this time when the female Death Eater, Alecto attacked him before leaving, Harry landed on the spot where Dumbledore was standing before falling. . . where Chris was staring till now.

*

Harry got up again but the movement did something to Chris. She didn't know what happened but the next second she knew what she had to do.

They killed Dumbledore and now, they are trying to kill Harry. They can kill Ginny or Luna, Colin or Hermione or Ron, Bill, Sirius, Aurelia or Remus, Professor McGonagall or anyone. . . if she didn't stop them. . . if she didn't kill them.

It was like pouring oil on the fire. Everything exploded inside her.

All of them had already gone down leaving Chris and Harry alone. Harry was about to follow them but he noticed that Chris was trying to stand up. He quickly slashed the ropes from her hands and legs.

Chris stood up and grabbed her wand from the ground, then without waiting took off. Harry followed her.

Downstairs a battle was raging on but Chris didn't pay any attention. Her goal was fixed. In the dust-filled corridor, she saw Snape disappearing around the corner at the far end of the corridor; Chris plunged after him, one of the fighters detached themselves from the fray and flew at her: It was the werewolf, Fenrir. He was on top of her but Chris didn't think twice. He was an obstacle, that's all.

"SECTUMSEMPRA!" Chris slashed her wand through the air three times and Greyback fell. Blood spurted from Greyback's wounds as if someone had hurtled a sword through her body multiple times.

He was probably dead but Chris didn't look back. She didn't care.

Chris now saw red hair flying like flames in front of her: Ginny was locked in combat with a lumpy Death Eater, who was throwing hex after hex at her while she dodged them: he was giggling, enjoying the sport: "Crucio — Crucio — you can't dance forever, pretty —"

He started to burn. Chris had set him on fire.

"Don't you ever touch her!" she roared but didn't stop to look at the outcome.

"Chris!" Ginny called but Chris was already gone.

On the next corner, Chris saw Ron and Neville dwelling with a Malgino's minion.

"Punctio!"

Sharp icicles shoot from Chris' wand and stabbed the minion.

*

Harry realized what was going on. Chris wasn't being herself. Dumbledore had told him: Chris will lose control one day if something went terribly wrong. She won't be aware of her actions. She will be reckless, which will put her in equal danger as her enemies.

Now, Harry wasn't running after Snape to catch him. He was running after Chris.

But as he followed her, he noticed what Chris had left after her. She was killing people left and right. Greyback, the werewolf, four Death Eaters, and lots of Malgino's people were lying dead.

If she tries to kill Snape then Snape can kill her to save himself.

Fear gripped Harry and he ran faster.

*

Chris flew across the entrance hall and out into the dark grounds: She could just make out five figures racing across the lawn, heading for the gates beyond which they could Disapparate — by the looks of them, the huge blond Death Eater, Graham and, some way ahead of them, Stormy, Snape and Jason. . .

The cold night air ripped at Chris' lungs as she tore after them; she saw a flash of light in the distance that momentarily silhouetted her quarry. She did not know what it was but continued to run, not yet near enough to get a good aim with a curse —

Another flash, shouts, retaliatory jets of light, and Chris understood: Hagrid had emerged from his cabin and was trying to stop the Death Eaters escaping, and though every breath seemed to shred her lungs and the stitch in her chest was like fire, Chris sped up as an unbidden voice in her head said: not Hagrid . . . not Hagrid too . . . They won't get Hagrid. . .

And she attacked Graham and the huge blonde Death Eater, who was trying to curse Hagrid.

*

Harry took a shortcut and emerged a few minutes later. For a second, he just stared at the scene before him. Hagrid was fighting the huge blond Death Eater and a little bit ahead of him Chris was dwelling with Graham while throwing Hexes towards a running Snape. Stormy was already near the gates. She didn't stop for anything. And Harry remembered why?

She has the keys.

Chris defeated Graham, Snape pushed Jason towards the gate and faced Chris. Harry dashed after Stormy.

Jets of light shoot around from Chris and Snape's wand. Chris wasn't ready to back down and Snape was just holding her off.

"Crucio!" Harry attacked Stormy from behind.
