CH 6

On October 27, 3020, after a solid sleep, Jiang Chengyan felt that the fatigue from working overtime for nearly half a month had been swept away. He woke up in the morning with a refreshed feeling. After he changed his clothes, he went out.

She is the morning-shift clerk in the grocery store. If she was there, Ling Hua’an should have gone back home. 

Jiang Chengyan took out his phone and hesitated for a moment before putting it back down. He turned and walked into the police station.

Seeing Jiang Chengyan coming in, Yao Min walked over with documents, “Captain, the DNA comparison result has come out. The comparison result failed. The none DNA matched with  the deceased.”

Jiang Chengyan frowned slightly, put the breakfast on the table and took a rough look at the information, and said, “this is also expected. After all, the deceased didn’t die for a long time. It could be  the family hasn’t called the police, or the deceased lived alone in Huacheng, these are all possible.”

“Then what should we do? The head can’t be found, the fingerprints are destroyed, the identity of the deceased can’t be confirmed, and we can’t investigate at all.” Yao Min couldn’t help but complain.

“Continue to keep an eye on the missing person. It is impossible for a person to have no personal relationships. If they disappear for no reason, someone will always notice that something is wrong.” Jiang Chengyan said with a smile, “don’t complain, it’s not the first time you’ve seen such a case, after all. Yao Min responded, pushed the door open, and walked out.

Su Ke pouted and said half-truly, “I’m good looking, have a nice figure and I am sitting in the position of the section chief at a young age. Why can’t I get into your eyes yours Captain Jiang?”

“Stop interrupting. Hurry up, tell me whether you understand or not?”

“Which one are you referring to? The psychology or the physical aspect? I don’t know much about the physical. But we can discuss the psychology one.”

“Do you know where is the place for homosexual gatherings in Huacheng?” Seeing Su Ke not answer him seriously, Jiang Chengyan asked him bluntly.

“Bolang Bar. It’s a gay bar, the guest there is basically gay.” Su Ke paused, then continued, “but having the patience to clean up, it might not be a one-night-stand. The deceased should have a regular sexual partner. So if you go there, there is a high chance that you will go there for nothing.”

“The missing person DNA comparison result has failed, the identity of the deceased could not be determined, the case has reached a dead end, and now it can only be treated as a dead horse doctor1. After all, homosexuality is a minority group, and the social circle is very small. Maybe we can find some clues.”

Su Ke nodded. “That’s true. But the bar is not open now, it’s useless if you’re going now. Well, come and find me before you get off work, and I’ll accompany you there.”

“Captain Jiang.” Seeing Jiang Chengyan turning around to leave, Su Ke stopped him and said, “Aren’t you going to ask me some personal questions?”

Su Ke smiled frankly and admitted, “Both men and women, I am bisexual. ”

Jiang Chengyan said in surprise, “I really didn’t guess the result. Are you going to find a boyfriend or girlfriend?”

“It depends on fate. If I meet someone who moves my heart. It doesn’t matter, man or woman.”

“You’re open-minded. But what about your family? If you really bring a boyfriend back, uncle Su will break your leg.”

Su Ke said with a wry smile: “There’s nothing I can do. After all, it’s not them who will accompany me for the rest of my life, and it’s impossible for me to marry and have children with a woman who has no feelings in order to cater to them. This not only harms me, but it means I cheat on them too.”

Jiang Chengyan thoughtfully and agreed, “What you said makes sense. Okay, no matter what kind of partner you find in the future, I will bless you.”

Su Ke looked straight at Jiang Chengyan and asked with a smile, “What about you Chengyan? Do you like men or women?”

Jiang Chengyan and Su Ke are alumni. Jiang Chengyan is two years older than Su Ke. While Jiang Chengyan studied criminal investigation, Su Ke studied forensic medicine.

When they’re working Su Ke will call him Captain Jiang, just like everyone else. Only when the two were in private, did Su Ke will call him by his name. 

Today the ‘Chengyan’ sound seems to be different, but Jiang Chengyan didn’t care and said, “I don’t know. As you said, men and women don’t matter, as long as it’s the one destined.”

“Su Ke’s eyes flashed with light, and he said, “Well, don’t worry. A lifetime is a very long time. You will meet them eventually.”

“Let’s not talk about that. I have something to do so I’ll leave now.  I’ll come back to you in the evening.”

Watching Jiang Chengyan leave, the corners of Su Ke’s mouth raised into a smile and said softly, “A good start.”

Jiang Chengyan returned to his office, and Li Tong followed him in and said, “Captain, Mr. Qin didn’t find anything.”

“Hmm. Have you guys finished watching the surveillance video?”

“We did. Because it has been raining for the past few days, it is impossible to throw the corpse in the daytime. After nine o’clock there are almost no people in the street. The identity of the deceased cannot be determined, for the time being, so they can only find clues in this way.

Jiang Chengyang looked at the time, it was almost noon. He picked up his jacket then drove to Changping Gallery. Since there will be no progress in the case, he will take a trip to help Ling Hua’an.

Looking at the signboard of Changping Gallery, Jiang Chengyan pushed open the door and walked in. When the salesperson saw someone coming in, he hurried over and greeted him warmly, “Hello Sir, may I ask what you need?”

Jiang Chengyan said bluntly, “Is your boss there? I have something to ask him.”

Jiang Chengyan took out the police officer’s card and said, “I’m a police officer. There’s a case that needs your boss’s assistance in the investigation. Can you contact him?”

The salesperson was startled then he looked at the office inside and hesitantly said, “Comrade police, our boss is really not here. He hasn’t been in the store for nearly a week.”

“A week?” Jiang Chengyan’s brow frowned, speculating in his heart about the possibility of Jiang Changping hiding from debts, and said, “What about your boss’s wife?”

Before coming here, Jiang Chengyan checked Jiang Changping’s personal information and knew that he was married and had a son.

The salesperson looked in the direction of the office again, and Jiang Chengyan suddenly said, “Please ask her to come out, there is a case that requires her to cooperate with the investigation.”

The salesperson hesitated for a moment, smiled, and said, “Then please wait in the lounge area for a while, and I will call her right away.”

Jiang Chengyan immediately reacted and asked, “When you ask this, do you mean that your husband is missing?”

The woman said in a daze, “Comrade police, didn’t you come here for my husband’s disappearance case?”

“No.” Jiang Chengyan shook his head, he looked at the woman’s expression carefully, “When did your husband disappear, and when did you call the police?”

Disappointment flashed in the woman’s eyes, she was silent for a while and said, “Actually, my husband has been gone without news for a week. Just before he left, he said he would be on a business trip and would come back in about three days, but there was no news after he left. I couldn’t get in touch with him, I was worried that something happened to him. So I called the police early this morning.”

Jiang Chengyan’s information flashed through Jiang Changping’s mind, and he quickly took out his mobile phone to check his information.

Jiang Changping, 35 years old. Born on 13 May 2985.  178 cm tall and weight 78kg. graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Hwaseong University, a well-known painter in Huacheng, married with a son.

After that Jiang Chengyan again pulled up the autopsy report Su Ke gave him. The deceased was between 35 and 40 years old, between 175 and 180 cm tall, and weighed about 70 kg.

Jiang Chengyan compared the information between the two and found that the similarity between them was very high. In addition, Jiang Changping’s disappearance happened at the time of the crime, so he had to infer that Jiang Changping was most likely the deceased.

Jiang Chengyan hurriedly asked, “Does Jiang Changping have a birthmark on his body or a characteristic that can be easily identified?”

“Characteristics?” The woman frowned slightly and said, “There are no characteristics. If you have to say it, there is a very shallow scar on the center of his eyebrows. If you don’t look carefully, you won’t be able to tell.”

“Ma’am, I need you to provide items that can verify Jiang Changping’s DNA.”
