Chapter 480 Family Over Everything

Chapter 480 Family Over EverythingChapter 480 Family Over Everything

"Brat..! Brat!"

No matter how much Asmodeus yelled at his son, he couldn't snap him out of it.

Abaddon was simply frozen in one place, staring at the wall with palpable hate in his eyes and every muscle in his body tensed up like he was ready to kill someone.

The heat coming off his body was smoldering, the pressure was unbearable, and there was nothing that Asmodeus could do to reach his boy.

"Damn it, you'll have to forgive me for this..!"

Asmodeus held up his hand and silver lightning began to crackle along his fingertips.

Taking more joy out of this than he should have, the head of the Black Legion fired an arc of lightning right into his son's back.

However, he didn't even notice it.

Abaddon's demeanor remained unchanged, and he was still locked within a trance he couldn't escape from.

Which admittedly ticked off his father... just a little bit.

"Oh, you think you're hot shit, huh tough guy!? This next one's going right up the a-"

Just before Asmodeus could perform an action that would have surely warranted in death, Ayanna appeared in the locker room with them.

Although she had changed out of her little black cheerleading outfit and instead wore a rather homey and modest dress.

Looking slightly concerned, she placed a tender hand on Abaddon's cheek; her touch so light that she barely grazed him.

"Honey...?"

Blinking his eyes like a toddler who'd just been woken up, Abaddon lost all of his tension and the pressure surrounding him dispersed like it was never there.

Once he saw Ayaana standing in front of him, a dopey and unguarded smile formed on his face.

"New dress? It suits all of you well."

"Y-You're just being a flirt..." they blushed.

"Are you fucking serious?!" Asmodeus roared.

Abaddon looked over his shoulder and found his entire team on the floor unconscious, save for his old man.

"Hm? What's your deal? And why are you all sleep on the floor? Jazzie'll run right over us if we're groggy."

A vein bulged in Asmodeus' head and he once again began to lament the fact that he was not around when his son was a child.

Perhaps then, he could have prevented him from turning into such a monumental pain in the ass.

'This is why Kan-Kan is my favorite...'

Ayaana tried to pull her husband's attention away from football for a moment and redirected it towards his prior outburst.

"Honey... you overloaded everyone's senses and knocked them out. It seemed like you were really far away for a moment... Care to tell us why?"

Abaddon shrugged as he interlocked his fingers together with hers.

"Ah... nothing much. Idle threats from enemies long forgotten about and a reminder of promises yet to be kept. My back tickles, can you scratch it?"

Asmodeus lay face down on the floor in defeat. 'Fuck this guy...'

While the former demon lord was wrestling with his feelings of inferiority, the girls were scratching their husbands back attentively while trying to wrap their head around what was just said.

"Honey, what do you mean about idle threats...?"

"Ehehehe...ehehehehehehe..." Ayanna seemingly forgot all about the anticipating danger and kicked her feet happily like a little girl instead.

Abaddon kissed her lightly on the cheek and turned back to his father on the floor.

"Then, and only then... the two of us will travel to the abyss ourselves and close this chapter of our lives for good. Ahead of the two year timeline I might add."

Abaddon's speech sounded well and good and all, but Asmodeus still raised a brow when he heard something that he didn't like.

"Are you dumb? The hell do you mean just the two of you? Going down there with anything less than the full weight of your army is practically suicide!"

Abaddon became somewhat serious for the first time today and he fell silent.

Luckily, Ayaana seemed to be capable of recognizing what he was thinking and she smiled wryly.

"Are you saying this as our general, or as a member of our family?"

Asmodeus thought about it for a moment before clawing to his feet.

He clasped both of his hands behind his back and straightened his posture into a formal military stance.

"As general of The Black Legion... I am telling you that you would be foolish not to take us. Out assistance would be vital in this campaign."

Abaddon listened to everything that his father said, but his mind remained unchanged.

"I'm sorry, General. I don't believe your men are ready. They need time to grow and age that... we just do not have."

Asmodeus' jaw clenched and the couple heard his knuckles crack.

"Are they not ready... or are you not?" Asmodeus asked.

"What?"

"They are not children, they are soldiers. They train day in and day out tirelessly with their only focus being glory in battle. Do not deprive them of this."

Abaddon's red eyes stared into his father's gold ones, and neither of them seemed to be willing to back down from this conflict.

Ayaana thought that she might have to step in to keep things from getting too hostile when Abaddon finally spoke.

"Corporal Geas of the 7th Battalion. You just approved his promotion, correct?"

"He displays exemplary leadership qualities and is well known for helping those under him better themselves through carrot and stick methods. He'll make a fine lieutenant colonel one day."

"Did you know that he just had a daughter born a month ago? And his two wives work together in one of the best jewelers in Apollonir."

"That's not-"

"His little girl's name is Daphne, and she's so smart that she's already learned how to polymorph. She'll be in the same class as Straga next month. They'll likely be friends."

"Abadd-"

"I am fully aware that I cannot shelter them from all strife or harm that could occur. But If I can prevent it then won't see them separated from their families who need them desperately.

I don't know what kind of tricks Yaldabaoth and his legions will employ, and I don't know if I'll be able to revive them if something were to go awry. I won't take the chance."

"They are soldiers!" Asmodeus roared. "They know exactly what it means to fight with their lives on the line!"

"And I am their maker! It is my job to ensure that their lives are as fulfilling as possible! That they make it home to see their families and friends everyday without worry!"

Just as it seemed like the argument was going to swap from words to fists, the referee came in to retrieve the team for the second half of the game.

However, when he saw over half the team lying on the floor, and his emperor in a stalemate with his father, he began to feel like he shouldn't have come in here at all.

"Ah... I'll give you all five more minutes."
