Chapter 214 - The Creator (2)

"D-doctor!" Lu Weisheng whipped out his phone to dial their family doctor.

"Stop." Lu Xuefeng grabbed his younger brother's wrist to stop him from dialing. "I'm alright. I…"

Xiong Jingfei quietly watched and listened to the Lu brothers' conversation. Even though Lu Xuefeng said that he was alright, he didn't look like he was 'alright' to her. He looked like someone who just got stabbed in the stomach with a knife and was quietly enduring the pain.

Lu Xuefeng looked over to Xiong Jingfei, unable to explain what he saw and heard. Something he couldn't explain to anyone or himself, but he knows he didn't imagine those voices.

"Are you sure you don't need a doctor?" Lu Weisheng asked worriedly, seeing that his brother's face was getting paler. It also made him forget the fear he had for his older brother. "This is what happens when you overwork yourself! Don't you know when to take a break!?"

"Noisy."

That quickly ended Lu Weisheng's two-sentence lecture.

"Leave."

Something meant for only Lu Weisheng, as Lu Xuefeng quickly kicked his chatty brother out of the room.

Lu Weisheng didn't leave without letting out a whine.

Before, he didn't care about the butterfly hairpin as it was nothing of interest to him. He thought it was just an accessory that Xiong Jingfei wanted, but that changed when his brother became interested in it too. Now, he was curious about what information his brother had and won't let him in on it.

"Sit."

Xiong Jingfei took a seat as she cleared her throat and felt her hands become sweaty. It was much easier for her to converse with Lu Xuefeng with Lu Weisheng around. At least half of Lu Xuefeng's attention became divided between them, but her alone with him was somewhat suffocating.

"I apologize for showing you any rudeness." Xiong Jingfei started the conversation by apologizing. "I also wanted to apologize for showing up on such short notice, Mr. Lu."

"Mr. Lu?" Lu Xuefeng said it as if that name sounded unfamiliar to him. "I am no longer the crown prince to you? It seems like I dropped a whole rank."

Xiong Jingfei choked on her saliva, and Lu Xuefeng showed a rare smirk.

"Please forget I ever called you that… I-it was an accident." Xiong Jingfei laughed nervously and rubbed her hands on her pants. "Let's talk-"

"Accident?" Lu Xuefeng cut her off as he glanced at her up and down. He leaned forward and clasped his hands together as he rested his chin on top of it. "Do you go around and accidentally call others crown princes?"

Of course not! Xiong Jingfei screamed inside her head, but a smile remained on her face.

"Let's talk about why you asked me to meet you." Xiong Jingfei tried to change the topic quickly. "About the hairpin, what do you know about the butterfly hairpin?"

"I want to see it," Lu Xuefeng held out his hand, but she didn't get what he wanted to see. "Your drawing of the hairpin."

"Oh!"

Xiong Jingfei pulled out the folded drawing in her notebook and handed it over.

The room went quiet as Lu Xuefeng carefully examined the detailed drawing on the paper. His cold eyes that didn't show any change until now showed a small glint of interest.

Out of nowhere, Lu Xuefeng got up from his seat and headed towards his study room. He didn't need to tell Xiong Jingfei to follow him, and as if she already knew, she got up and went with him.

Inside the study room, there wasn't anything that particularly stood out. It was your average study room with books and filled with quietness, but a lot more extravagant. It was befitting of Lu Xuefeng's personality, past and present lifetimes.

He did spend most of his life in his study room...

Then Lu Xuefeng took out what looked like small iron keys from his pocket. He stuck the first key into his locked drawer, and inside, he took out a wooden box that was locked. The smallest iron key was the one to unlock the wooden box.

Xiong Jingfei took a step closer, curious about what Lu Xuefeng stored in the box to be delicately locked up. The item inside the wooden box was wrapped with a silk and velvet fabric.

Her heart began pounding against her chest when Lu Xuefeng took out a rolled-up scroll from inside the fabric.

It's not what she thinks it is, right?

Lu Xuefeng unrolled the scroll and revealed what was hidden inside it.

It wasn't exactly what Xiong Jingfei thought of it, but it didn't disappoint her either. She wanted to touch the paper but was afraid she would ruin it if she did.

It showed signs that it was old, extremely old… But that didn't matter because what was on it remained as beautiful as the day Yang Zheyan created it.

"The original…" Xiong Jingfei breathlessly muttered under her breath. She touched the corner of the drawing to make sure she wasn't dreaming of it only. "The butterfly hairpin drawing."

Lu Xuefeng wanted to confirm whether Xiong Jingfei had seen this drawing and only made a replica of it. However, after seeing her reaction, it was obvious that she never saw the one he kept hidden.

Xiong Jingfei rubbed the corner of the paper with her fingers. It was probably hard for others to tell what was written on the corner, seeing as it became worn out with time. But for her, she can read it just fine with the only readable ink stroke left.

Yang Zheyan.

Who did Yang Zheyan give this drawing to in the past for it to still be intact after all this time?

Wei Weimin…

Xiong Jingfei looked up at Lu Xuefeng, whose eyes were on her the whole time.

In the past, Yang Zheyan gave his drawing to Wei Weimin to have someone make his drawing come to life. In exchange for making the hairpin, that person only wanted the drawing in return for it. It can't be…

Crown Prince, Lu Xuefeng.
