Chapter 185 - He's Mine (4)

The song Wen Yingyue picked out was a piece that could have brought her and Yang Zheyan closer. It was just too bad that the song got used to Xiong Jingfei's benefit. Besides, Yang Zheyan wasn't planning on coming if not for Xiong Jingfei's appearance.

Yang Zheyan's hand behind Xiong Jingfei's back began to slide down lower. Since her mind was wandering elsewhere, he will make sure her thoughts and eyes will come back to him only.

"Behave, Mr. Yang." Xiong Jingfei placed her hand on his and brought it back to its proper place. She smiled, one that made others unable to resist looking at her. "The night is still long. What is the hurry?"

Since Wen Yingyue could charm others with her charming smile, Xiong Jingfei will use the ability taught to her in her past and present life. Whether it was the smallest touch, look, smile, or nod. She will bewitch them all with a flicker of her hand.

"It's tough when other men are staring at you. If there is only a way to keep them away." Yang Zheyan gently played with Xiong Jingfei's left hand, but mainly around her ring finger. "If only, but I don't think a ring is enough to keep flies away."

There was an uncomfortable feeling that Xiong Jingfei had with the way he touched her left ring finger. She brought her face closer to Yang Zheyan and whispered, "I'm afraid a ring is not enough to keep me by your side."

There was an unnoticeable gleam in his eyes, and his smile concealed it all. He tightened his arms around Xiong Jingfei's waist as if she already made an attempt to run away. He had seen it first hand how fast she can be when she wants to escape.

"Do you think I'll give you another chance to escape again?" Yang Zheyan firmly held onto her right hand.

"Are you challenging my ability to escape?" Xiong Jingfei asked jokingly yet half-serious.

"No." Yang Zheyan swept away the loose strands of hair that was on her face. His hand caressed her jawline to her chin. "I am asking you not to leave me again. Go back home with me, Feifei."

Xiong Jingfei smiled in response to his words.

If only she could be blind and deaf to what happened in the past. The old her before knowing anything about her past life would have her heart melted at his words. Sadly, the past wasn't something she can forgive and forget. If it was, why would she need to remember in this lifetime?

"You left me first." Xiong Jingfei removed his hand from touching her face. She couldn't face him anymore because she doesn't know what kind of expression she was showing. She quietly repeated, "You left first."

"I never left you?" Yang Zheyan said, not understanding the words coming from Xiong Jingfei. They were almost the same as that day when she was crying and throwing things at him. "Feifei-"

At that moment, the music ended, and the clock struck midnight. It was time for everyone's mask to come off and reveal their real face. Although, the "them" behind the mask was more real than their real face. The actual face showed to others on a daily basis, now that was the real mask.

Xiong Jingfei took a step back and took off her mask. "Goodbye, Zheyan."

"Wait!" Yang Zheyan shouted, trying to grab onto her wrist, but it was almost impossible.

People were starting to gather around him to congratulate him on his engagement. Xiong Jingfei used this chance to interact with them to get lost in the crowd and away from him. He couldn't get away from them even if he wanted to as they were blocking his path.

Yang Zheyan could only watch Xiong Jingfei's back as her figure quickly disappeared into the dark corridor.

She looked different from the first time he met her, and the last time he saw her. Her big rounded innocent eyes are gone and replaced with sharper and alert ones. What happened within the past few days that caused her to change this much?

In the dark corridor, a large window swung open by a woman in a black dress. She was feeling the summer breeze as she stared down. Her hands were on the ledge as she took in a deep breath. Then she lifted her dress and put her black heels on the ledge.

"What are you doing?"

Xiong Jingfei instantly turned towards the direction of the voice.

"Crown prince!?"

Unfortunately for her, her foot slipped, and out she went through the window. She quickly recovered from the fall as she rubbed her injured elbows and sore bottom.

Xiong Jingfei looked over to the crown prince, who was shocked to witness a woman falling out from a window. She was glad she chose a window that wouldn't put her life in danger. Her goal was to jump out of the window but "safely." She was just surprised there was another person that saw her.

"Feifei." Yin Yuan hissed in a quiet tone, looking for her in the dark.

He ran to the window where they had planned to meet up, but he didn't expect to find another person there.

"Let's go. Hurry!" Xiong Jingfei got up and pulled Yin Yuan along with her.

It seemed like his legs froze up upon seeing the crown prince in person. Plus, Yang Zheyan couldn't be distracted for long. He will not stop until he drags her back with him, and she wasn't going to let that happen.

The crown prince wasn't sure what he just saw, but one thing he was sure of, a runaway bride-to-be. He didn't think Yang Zheyan's fiancee will resort to jumping out of the window to escape.

He quickly covered his mouth in shock that he found himself laughing. How long has it been since he found someone that made him laugh?

As they ran to Yin Yuan's hidden parked car, he opened the back seat and got in. He crossed his arms and shook his head. "Did you seriously crawl out from a window? Such a disgrace to have someone witness it too."

Xiong Jingfei sat on the opposite side and let out an exhausted sigh. "If only I were crawling! It would have been better than dropping out due to the element of surprise."

Then something soft and light was thrown on Xiong Jingfei's lap.

"You kept this?"

"You told me not to lose it!" Yin Yuan signaled the driver to start driving them back to the Yin residence. "You can have the honor of throwing away the crown prince's handkerchief."

Xiong Jingfei traced the embroidery gold lettering on the silk cloth. Throw it away? Wouldn't it be a waste to throw something like this away?
