Chapter 125 - Until We Meet Again (2)

Wu Yuan didn't get the answer he wanted directly from her mouth. He only asked her out of curiosity, but her expression was enough to tell him. She had the same expression as her mother when Xiong Guozhi was mentioned in the past.

She actually… Wu Yuan sighed, what can he do when she does?

"Miss!" Xu Song shouted excitedly, running up to them and not caring if anyone heard her.

"Xu Song, what did I say about running?" Xiong Jingfei reprimanded her, even though she ran around the camp herself. When no one was looking, obviously. Can't Xu Song see that someone was with her?

"I apologize, Miss and Wu Yuan." Xu Song said, without really being apologetic at all. It was only Wu Yuan, and like how Xiong Jingfei got used to him, so did Xu Song. They became close acquaintances too.

"M-master has summoned you," Xu Song gasped for breath. She grabbed Xiong Jingfei's hands and, in a quiet enthusiastic voice, "We are finally getting to go home!"

"H-home?" Xiong Jingfei gripped Xu Song's hand, "Is that true?"

"Yes! Master told me to pack our things."

Xiong Jingfei let go of Xu Song's hands and ran toward her father's tent. She wasn't sure when Wu Yuan asked her, but hearing Xu Song said that her father granted them permission to return home. She can feel how much she wanted to return and see Yang Zheyan.

"M-miss… You just told me not to run." Xu Song giggled, then bid Wu Yuan goodbye to go pack their things.

"Please be safe," Wu Yuan nodded his head. At least someone remembered to bid him goodbye. "Tsk, forgetting about family."

Just like what Xu Song announced to them, Xiong Guozhi is granting them permission to return back home. They will go back with the group that recently arrived with more supplies.

"It's almost time for the lantern festival," Xiong Guozhi said, he can't believe almost a whole year passed by. He didn't plan to let his daughter stay here this long. It was the perfect time for her to return, and he couldn't keep delaying it.

Any longer, it will most likely cause unnecessary problems in her marriage with Yang Zheyan. The lantern festival will at least help reconnect Xiong Jingfei and Yang Zheyan, who had been separated for almost a year.

When Xiong Jingfei returned back to her tent, Xu Song was surprisingly almost done packing. As always, Xu Song was efficient in everything. Anyone who married her would be lucky!

"Songsong, there is something I need to do."

"Okay, Miss. I am almost done here too."

Xiong Jingfei went to the medical tent, but couldn't find Wu Yuan. He wasn't back at his tent too, so there was only one place she knew where he would be at. Going back down to that hidden stream.

He was there with Bai too.

"You knew, didn't you?" Xiong Jingfei sat down next to him and took Bai from him.

Wu Yuan didn't answer.

Xiong Jingfei tried avoiding him after that day, but it was impossible to do it. He was the leader of the medical team, so her status was below his authority. The more she tried to avoid him, the more work he gave her.

A real monster!

"What are you smiling about?" Wu Yuan gave her a harsh squint. It was definitely about him!

"Oh, I thought you weren't speaking to me?" Xiong Jingfei said, lightly tapping Bai's nose.

Wu Yuan was fit to be called a monster by the Yin disciples. He had crazy knowledge about everything from patching an injury to how easily distinguish two identical herbs. A very knowledgeable and helpful person!

Thanks to him, Xiong Jingfei learned a bunch of useful things that were not taught in books. They were more like the Yin family secret techniques.

Wu Yuan scoffed, taking Bai from her and wouldn't allow Xiong Jingfei near it.

"I wanted to thank you and bid my goodbyes," Xiong Jingfei smiled, taking off her veil. She doesn't know when she will see Wu Yuan again since he worked inside the palace.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Wu Yuan asked, turning to face Xiong Jingfei's revealed face. His expression wasn't like Yang Zheyan and Feng Huan. He had no reaction!

"You asked me to show my real self to you, so, for now, I am showing you my face. Although I am sure, you already know how I look." Xiong Jingfei smiled and put her veil back on. "Yuan, I will be waiting for the day you reveal your real identity to me. For now, you will continue to be Yuan to me."

Wu Yuan smirked. She knew he was lying to her all along, but for how long now did she know? Well, at least he knew it wasn't the Yin disciples who told her. They kept their lips sealed and took his warning seriously.

The Yin disciples were only able to do it because they were afraid to approach Xiong Jingfei because of him. They were also worried they might slip out something they shouldn't have.

"Yuan, until we meet one day again." Xiong Jingfei stood up to leave.

Since Yang Zheyan and her have been exchanging letters. She did mention Wu Yuan in her letters, and Yang Zheyan told her that there is someone with that name in the Yin clan. Except, he is an eight-year-old boy still in training. The person claiming himself Wu Yuan is not the person he claimed to be.

Yang Zheyan also mentioned in the letter that Wu Yuan won't cause any harm to her. He told her the same thing Wu Yuan had once said to her. Even without Yang Zheyan telling her, she can feel it too.

"Feifei."

"Mm?" Xiong Jingfei turned back around.

There was a dangerous glint in Wu Yuan's eyes, "Please be careful back at the Capital. Don't believe everything you see and hear."

Xiong Jingfei smiled and nodded her head, "Thank you."

Wu Yuan played with Bai's ears. I won't be able to protect you while I am here. Please stay safe until I return.
