Chapter 118 - Chun Ma (9)

Name:Descent of the Demon God Author:
At the entrance of the Yongchun Group Estate located in front of the vast lake, there were vehicles from the Defense Department surrounding it, with over fifty Defense Department soldiers standing ready for the next move in front of the closed gate. In front of them all was a short middle-aged man standing alongside the other officers. He was the Lieutenant Major Baek Jinchang.

“Sir, do you think it is necessary for us to wait here? We can bust in right now and start investigating.”

A man with a mustache and tied up hair spoke to Baek Jinchang who was waiting with his arms crossed.

“Hold on. Don’t try to rush in, Captain Ha.”

The man with a mustache was wearing a vest that had the symbol of the Gatekeeper on it. This man was the captain of the Gatekeepers in Jenam City, Ha Hyunkang. Ha Hyunkang did not seem to like the idea of waiting and replied, “I am not rushing. I am just saying because if that unidentified flying object is really a dangerous entity that came from the Gate, it will cause only more trouble. Besides, I do not understand why you are so especially lenient to the Yongchun Group.”

Baek Jinchang frowned at Ha Hyunkang’s words. Actually, if this problem was truly related to the Gate, then they had the authority to investigate without a warrant, just as Ha Hyunkang implied. But the reason why he wasn’t doing it was simple.

‘I can’t just bust in there and make a mess when we are sponsored by them with all that money.’

He did not want to make enemies with the Yongchun Group. He had to investigate without offending the group so that the sponsorship will continue. But he could not explain this situation so he replied otherwise.

“As you know, Yongchun Group are Yulinians. If they had the unidentified flying being coming into their estate, they sure would have reacted. But look.”

Inside, the Yongchun Group was as quiet as it could get. It was weird. If something truly dropped suddenly from the sky, there should have been casualties.

“Ugh..”

Ha Hyunkang realized talking would not do anything anymore so he just sighed. He knew that Yongchun Group was highly influential in these Jenam City regions, but he just didn’t like to see the Lieutenant Major of the Defense Department trying to go easy on them.

About 15 minutes passed after they requested assistance to investigate. There were about forty men coming from the headquarter building. In the front of all security agents were officers and President Chun Yujang who had his arms wrapped with linen bands.

“They are coming with full force, sir.”

“…Just stay quiet.”

Baek Jinchang replied annoyingly, and took his officers to approach them. As he approached, he smiled brightly and spoke to Chun Yujang.

“Oh, President Yong Yuchun. I am sorry to bother you in the middle of a night like this.”

Yong Yuchun. It was a name Chun Yujang used to hide his true name. After the Black Sky Company was dismantled, all higher ranking members had changed their names and identities to hide.

“Hahaha, it’s nothing compared to your hard work to protect our walls. Of course it is nothing. You don’t need to be sorry about it.”

“Haha! I knew you would understand us, President Yong.”

The two men praised each other, not trying to cause any offenses.

‘He still is our President, alright.’

Director Huan Myungoh was relieved for Chun Yujang’s natural response. He had gone through the pain of his hand being cut off and his internal energy sealed, but he was still acting accordingly as a President of a huge company. Baek Jinchang then looked down at the hand wrapped with linen bands and asked, “Did you get hurt?”

“Oh… There was a small accident.”

“Was there?”

‘An accident?’

Baek Jinchang became intrigued. As far as he knew, the president of Yongchun Group was an unregistered Yulinian, but was at a certain stage in martial arts. Baek Jinchang also witnessed the president’s martial art prowess a few times while at the fight to protect the wall.

“Anyway, I heard that you requested to investigate our estate on the issue of the unidentified flying object?”

“Hmph. Yes, sir. We detected an unidentified flying object on our infrared radar, and it was lost on the Yongchun Group Estate.”

Baek Jinchang spoke apologetically. This meant that he was implying that he would have to investigate no matter what.

“Oh, I see. Of course you should. But you know…”

Chun Yujang then glanced at Director Huan Myungoh. Huan Myungoh then brought up a tablet pc and opened up an email to show it to Baek Jinchang.

“And this is?”

“We actually just got approved on our private investigation until tomorrow morning from the city Security Department Head just now.”

Baek Jinchang frowned. On the email, there was an electronically signed name of Jenam City’s Security Department Head’s name.

“Hmm.”

Even if it wasn’t for this, Baek Jinchang did not want to offend Yongchun Group so he was only going to do a light search and leave, but learning that the city hall was contacted prior to this made him feel uncomfortable.

“Lieutenant Major. Can’t the Defense Department still move on with the investigation no matter what city hall says for a matter like this?”

That’s when the Gatekeeper Captain Ha Hyunkang intervened. Chun Yujang narrowed his eyes at Ha Hyunkang.

“Isn’t the City Security Department higher in hierarchy than the Defense Department? Captain Ha?”

“That’s only when the matter is not about the Gate, President Yong.”

Ha Hyunkang took a step forward, and twelve men and women with Gatekeeper vests also took a step forward. It was apparent that they were going to move on with the investigation no matter what.

‘This fool.’

With the Yulin Organization, the Yongchun Group also was not really friendly with the Gatekeepers. Chun Yujang in particular was in not good mood because of what just happened with Chun Yeowun, so he was not ready to take this offense lightly. Chun Yujang raised his right hand up. All security agents of the Yongchun Group then reached down at their weapons by the waist.

“Huh? What is the meaning of this? Lieutenant Major, it seems like the Yongchun Group is trying to fight us. Are you really going to let them get all over us like this?”

Ha Hyunkang spoke aggressively, to which Baek Jinchang frowned at the frustration.

‘Goddammit!’

He was given no better alternative in this case. He had to give up the investigation if he wanted to keep up the good relationship with the Yongchun Group, and also to not offend the Security Department head. But if he were to do that, then he was not following the protocol of the situation where the Gate was involved, just as Ha Hyunkang had said.

‘I should have not brought the Gatekeepers here.’

They were only brought here because of possible danger, but he did not imagine it would cause more problems this way. It seemed the Gatekeepers too were ready to fight at a moment’s notice. It was when the crisis was just growing.

Someone got out of the Gatekeeper vehicle and walked up to them. It was a woman in her late twenties, with long brown hair in tight white shirts and skinny pants that showed her curves. Ha Hyunkang and other the Gatekeepers became weird at the appearance of the woman who had a cold look on her face. It was as if the Gatekeepers were afraid of her.

‘What is it?’

Chun Yujang looked at the woman. He had stayed in Jenam City for quite a long time now, but he had never seen the woman before. That’s when she spoke to Captain Ha Hyunkang.

“How long are you going to waste our time? Quit messing around and start the investigation.”

Ha Hyunkang replied hesitantly.

“Uh… Yongchun Group is claiming that they have talked with the Security Department at the city to proceed with their own investigation…”

“Since when did a mere private company have the power to stop the Defense Department and the Gatekeepers from investigating? Investigate the area, right now.”

“Yes, ma’am. Men! Move out!”

“Yes, sir!”

The Gatekeepers began to take steps to move into the estate at the woman’s firm order. The Yongchun Group security agents then pulled out their weapons to defend them. They were here as security agents to the company, but they were actually cultists of the Great Demonic Cult and first-class warriors. Chun Yujang then shouted to the Gatekeepers trying to bust into their estate.

“We have clearly stated that we are authorized by the Security Department. If you come in without our consent, we have no way but to exercise our right to defend!”

“Right to defend?”

That’s when the brown-haired woman walked forward and reached out toward the security agents. At once, all security agents blocking the entrance were thrown to the ground. Some fell on their knees while some just dropped entirely to the ground.

“Ugh!”

“M-my body!”

“I can’t… it’s too heavy!”
