Chapter 207 207 – A Poor Family

Nate pressed his hand to one part of the flying bike. One of the plates came off shortly after, causing a fairly loud clang sound.

This world doesn't know nuts and bolts, so Nate uses a kind of special glue to connect the parts of that thing. In order for the glue to work or be deactivated, you must use special magic.

Nate invented that method, but the Durcia kingdom found it impractical. He is thrilled to be able to use it here.

"You're going to destroy that, Nate?" Bran, the mage working on remote communication tools, entered the room. He observed the various parts lying on the floor. "You've worked hard on this project, right?"

Nate glanced at the man. "I have to examine this thing from the smallest part to find the flaws and then fix it."

"And you did that because of the dark magus' words?" Bran sneered, approaching the flying bike, which had most of its parts removed. He found a mechanism in the form of small connected plates of various sizes. Even a scientist like himself couldn't understand what it was.

"No matter how evil Fergus Algrave is, he is still a magus with high knowledge. His words have weight." Nate removed the front from that flying bike. "But I'll prove that I can make this fly."

Bran chuckled. "That's sucks, right? I also hate it when people don't appreciate or underestimate my efforts. I was like that before becoming a government soldier. Many mocked me that I would not be able to achieve my dream because my grades at the academy were not good."

Nate paused, then started drawing something on a piece of paper. "What do you want, Bran? You couldn't have come here just to vent, could you?"

"Can you tell me about the earth energy-draining generator you are developing?" Bran gulped. "After doing various experiments, I concluded that I need a generator that can draw more energy so that the device I made could work."

Nate stopped what he was doing again, glancing at Bran, who looked away instead. Unlike Nate, Bran has never asked other scientists for help besides his shapeshifter assistants. Maybe Bran really wants to prove his worth.

Not getting an answer, Bran snorted. "You feel it too, right? If this flying bike had worked, this situation might have been different. Maybe we can catch Fergus. And if my remote communication tool is successful, then the command line becomes more effective."

Nate narrowed his eyes, feeling an aura of determination from Bran.

"Okay, then." Nate turned, walked to a corner of the room, then took a scroll from a wooden box. "Here, take it. I already have a lot of copies, and my assistants must have memorized a lot."

Bran received that thing, untied it, then opened it. After a few moments of studying the schematic and the text on the paper, he nodded. "Well, I had to make this a lot smaller."

"Cool." Nate folded his arms across his chest. "Please let me know if you need anything. And I would also like it if the energy generator was smaller. So, if you succeed, please let me know."

"Sure." Bran started to walk away while continuing to read that thing.

"So, Vorn basically got the Ascaind country and continues to seize areas in the Durcia kingdom?" Sitting in a luxurious chair, Fergus asked a family kneeling in front of him. Neither the father, mother nor daughter dared to look at him. "Why didn't he just destroy the palace immediately to take over Durcia, as he did with Ascaind?"

It could have happened because the prophet's influence in Durcia wasn't as strong as in Ascaind, so there would be more people who disapproved of Vorn's government. That's why the demon lord continues to influence as many people as possible first.

Even with Velvet's influence, the rebels still rose significantly in Ascaind. Maybe Vorn didn't want his empire to be burdened with the rebellion in Durcia. They are already busy with the separatist groups in Ascaind.

However, in the end, it's all just a guess. This version of Vorn is very different from that in ancient manuscripts. Fergus couldn't predict the demon lord's movements.

It will be a tough battle.

The dark magus glanced at Kayla, who was bound and gagged on the floor. The female vampire gave Fergus a glare.

"Is there anything else you can tell us about the current situation, Mr. and Mrs. Ashford?" Fergus asked, ignoring Kayla.

With a trembling body, the father of the Ashford family raised his head. "P-please spare us, sir. We don't have any more information."

Fergus' gaze shifted from the man with the little mustache to the daughter. She looks pretty with curly blonde hair and green eyes. Her body had also developed quite a bit, showing her maturity, even though she was only nineteen years old.

"Fuck." The dark magus looked down at his crotch. He is basically just a set of armor containing a skull. Of course, he doesn't have a penis.

"Fine, I'll let you go." He sighed.

The Ashford family exchanged glances and breathed a sigh of relief.

"However, there is one condition." The dark magus leaned forward. "You have to feed my monster outside. She flew quite a bit last night."

"Of course." The Ashford family head replied. "I will prepare whatever you ask for your pet."

Fergus stood up from the chair, motioning for the Ashfords to get up. "You should see my pet first before feeding them."

The Ashford family members exchanged glances again, but this time with their mouths agape.

Fergus put his arms around the couple's necks, then led them to a large window.

The magus opened the window with his thrust magic. "Please look outside."

At first, the pair stood motionless but eventually complied with Fergus' orders. They stuck their heads out with a stiff motion as Fergus took a few steps back.

The dark magus raised his hand again, then fired a thrust magic at the couple's back.

As soon as they were knocked out, Fergus' four-winged bat monster grabbed them in its mouth and flew away.

And then, Fergus turned around, looked at the daughter of the Ashford family, and spread his arms.

"Congratulations, you have become my maid."

The girl stood still with her chin down, not screaming or crying. And after a few seconds, she fell unconscious.
