Chapter 49 49 – The Core

Looks like Szur managed to do something.

"Keep distracting this thing!" I gave Emily an order, then flew away. "I will beat the shit out of this ugly monster!"

Without waiting for an answer, I moved further away, then sped up and hit the monster. Our enemy immediately swayed, very different from when it was still in the form of a horse.

The undeads continued to climb over the monster's body, but that creature could focus on attacking me. I dodged its attack again for the umpteenth time.

I'm lucky that thing is not as fast as before.

However, my speed has also decreased due to the impact of the initial attacks. And I'm sure, one more time hit by that monster, I'll be finished.

So, I kept flying in circles and punching my enemy. Every time my punch hits the target, the gaps in the monster's body widen.

And finally, I saw a gap that seemed enough for me.

"Shit!" I cursed for barely dodging a single blow, then darted into the monster's body.

Inside, I found the black sphere emitting a dark blue light. I noticed some claw marks on the thing, but I didn't see Szur anywhere.

I can only hope that the little creature is okay.

The closer I got to that sphere, the more I felt vibrations in my body. It seemed like it was emitting some kind of destructive radiation.

Damn, the vibration I feel is quite strong. I can't imagine the pain that Szur suffered earlier. My HP is also decreasing little by little, so I must hurry.

Without a second thought, I started punching the black sphere with my remaining strength. Each blow I gave made the gaps in the monster's plates even wider.

I kept hitting the sphere, making a loud clank sound, and then the plates started falling. I could see more bright light from the outside.

And one hand of the monster moved towards me. However, I didn't run. I'm too close to winning.

So, I did a circular kick to the sphere, and the enemy's hand suddenly stopped.

Cracks began to appear in the sphere. At first, it was small, but as time passed, it got bigger. After that, the ball-shaped object broke and collapsed.

I flew out, watching all the remaining plates fall down. Even so, this is not the time to celebrate victory. I waited in case the plates would re-form the monster again.

A few minutes passed, and nothing happened. Those things stayed where they were, becoming rubble.

I raised both my hands and screamed like crazy. "Argghhhh!!!"

Even winning football matches in the past doesn't make me as satisfied as this.

I approached the black box-shaped chariot, the size of a jumbo truck. The undeads had just made the thing stand.

"This thing is really huge," Emily muttered. "But, I don't think anything in it will be worth the size of this place."

"Well, we'll find out in a moment." I opened the door to that thing.

The sight of gold and precious stones of various shapes filled my eyes. However, more than that, I found the interior area of this chariot to be almost three times its original size.

Emily jumped in and gasped as well. "Is this dimension expanding magic? In my time, magic like this was only a theory."

"Ah…." I was about to respond to Emily's words but remembered something. "We have to find Szur."

"Szur is here, my lord."

I came out of the chariot and found a pink-skinned creature with protruding bones.

"Szur?" I frowned at the strange creature.

Emily had just peeked out but came in again and stifled a laugh. Szur's appearance became so odd, especially with his super large eyes, almost like they were about to pop out of their sockets.

That little creature looks weirdly adorable.

"You have fought hard, Szur." I landed in front of him. "I was already close to the black sphere and felt the radiation. And I know it isn't easy to even scratch that thing. The pain you feel must be excruciating."

I have no injuries due to my character as a demon lord. My endurance is one of the strongest.

The little creature bowed down. "Thank you for the compliment, Your Majesty. Szur is very flattered." He sighed. "But, Szur can't do his job well. Szur cannot destroy the core of that monster."

I crouched and patted the mare's shoulder. "Without you, I wouldn't have been able to enter that monster's body, Szur. You're so amazing to do that."

The mare choked. "Once again, Szur thanks you, Your Majesty."

"Shall we also bring what's left of that monster, my lord?" Ayre came up to me, pointing at the monster's rubble. "Maybe you want to research it or maybe resurrect it later?"

I stared at the chariot again. "Good idea. Hopefully, it all fits enough into the chariot."

Emily jumped up and landed next to me. "It will take about a day before I can resurrect the fallen undeads. And I can't do it to all of them. Some will still die. Unless I'm in that undead cave. Then I can revive them again in an instant."

"Yeah, we need them to pull this big-ass chariot. We will wait then. You guys also need rest." I move my shoulders. Even though I don't feel pain, I still think something is wrong with my demon's body. Maybe because of the impact of the big battle. "After that, we'll go home."

"You'd better continue your journey to Nuaridge as originally planned, my lord," Emily suggested. "You want to see that devil's doctor, right? You, Ayre, and Szur seem to need some healing."

Seeing the state of these two subordinates of mine, I agree with Emily's words.

"Then how about you, Emily?" I asked the supreme undead. I've checked. The teleportation skill I will choose won't be able to transport something gigantic like that.

She chuckled. "I brought a lot of undead troops! I'll be fine!"

"Ah, you're right," I replied with a smile. "So, tomorrow, we will take a different path. Good luck."
