Chapter 47 47 – The Fragments

Those fragments then flew into the black sphere. Realizing something, I flew at it, but my reaction was too late.

The fragments quickly unite into a gigantic humanoid figure, encasing that black sphere.

"T-that thing isn't dead yet?" Szur commented in horror.

My gaze fell on the box-shaped chariot lying some distance away. Should I just run away with that thing?

But I haven't found Emily yet.

That humanoid monster, shaped like an armored knight the size of a truck, started convulsing while standing up. And then, the text appears above its head.

[Dark Knight of the Ruins]

I can't believe my own eyes. The name was red, indicating that the giant monster's level was much higher than me and my subordinates.

When I looked back, I only found the midget shapeshifter, along with a little creature whose way of fighting is clawing and biting.

We won't stand a chance.

"Let's get out of here..." I hissed as the dark knight stopped convulsing with its head lowered. "Now!!!"

I changed my flight course, but the monster moved and hit me, forcing me to crash into the ruins and roll quite far.

I could hear Szur screaming, "Lord Vorn!!!"

"Don't mind me!!! Run away from here!!!" I tried to get up from the rubble. Even though I didn't feel any pain, I had a bit of trouble moving my body.

And I found my HP bar gone by a quarter.

Shit.

The dust around me started to dissipate. I found that the giant monster was walking towards me.

"You'll never let me go, huh?" A bitter chuckle escaped my mouth. The one clogging this monster's head is Ayre, but it's targeting me instead.

It looks like the monster can detect who is the strongest.

I flew away again, dodging a blow from the monster. This time the attack caused gigantic cracks in the street, accompanied by a deafening sound.

Seeing the damage, I'm sure the attack had the same impact as before. So, with three more strikes, I'll be dead.

Of course, dying in this world won't affect the real world. However, I will be reborn several hundred years in-game time.

Besides my progress being hampered, not all of my subordinates are still alive. Maybe some of my generals will be replaced by others.

I don't want that to happen.

For the third time, I dodged the monster's attack. Is it just me, or is that thing moving faster?

I chose to fly up. And just then, I heard a thunderous rumble behind me.

"Oh, come on!!!" I cursed as I looked at the monster again. That thing's leg shot out black smoke at high pressure like a rocket booster, sending it flying at me. "Shit! Shit! Shit!!!"

I tried to move my wings faster to increase my speed. Apart from that, I also looked down. I have to find Emily right away!

Finding the monster close behind me, I drastically reduced my speed. It passed me, and I held on to a gap in its back.

The monster tried to get me off its back but to no avail. That thing's hands are not long enough to reach me.

This is an opportunity.

"Die, motherfucker!!!" I tried to pull a plate on the monster's back, intending to enter its body and destroy the black sphere. "Come on!!!"

I'm having a hard time doing that, but I'm sure, with all my might, I can open enough gaps for my body eventually.

As I opened the plate slightly, I heard a strange clank sound. I turned to the monster's right hand, which had been facing the wrong way, like a broken bone.

And the hand moved too fast, so I didn't have time to dodge.

It managed to catch my leg and throw my body with insane force. I scream like crazy as my body dives hard, and the scene in my eyes rolls around. I couldn't even use my wings to change course because I was falling so fast.

When my body landed on the ruin, I heard a booming sound, and my vision was clouded by the dust. I also felt a tremendous vibration in every inch of my body.

My HP bar was drastically reduced.

I cursed again, trying to get up quickly, even though it was getting harder and harder to move. And that's when I saw the monster had dived towards me. Its fists clenched forward.

That thing wanted to attack me. I'm definitely going to die if I don't do something.

With all my might, I forced my two wings to move. However, my efforts were in vain, even though the monster was getting closer.

"Move, damn wings!!!" Finally, I could fly again, just as the monster crashed down. The impact was so great that it pushed my body away.

I desperately stabilized my flight. My goal was only one: to where Emily lay.

With an erratic flying motion, I looked back.

Holy shit. The monster had started to stand up again within the cloud of dust. Some parts of its body, especially the right hand, are shattered, but the fragments have begun to reassemble.

There's no point in looking at it. I refocused forward.

My speed decreased, my body became more difficult to move, and my vision blurred. In fact, I'm not even sure the direction I'm taking is the right one. I only saw her briefly while flying; even then, the distance was very far.

It took several minutes and several direction changes, and finally found the woman lying unconscious on the ground.

"Emily!!!"

Having trouble stopping my flight, I crashed near her.

"Emily, please wake up!" I crawled to the woman and slightly lifted her body. "Please, Emily! I need you!!!"

However, even after shaking her body, the undead supreme did not wake up.

This is bad. I really need her undead army.

Meanwhile, the giant monster started to look around to find me. What kept us from being discovered was that we were covered in a pile of ruins.

"Szur has an idea to wake her up, my lord!" Szur came from nowhere, running with Ayre. "But I think it's going to sound weird!"

"Don't tell me you want to suggest me to pierce her ass hole!" I snapped out of frustration.

Szur stopped near me and scratched his head. "Well, I did want to suggest that."

"Maybe a slap will wake her up." Ayre made her arms expand, but her head shrunk to the size of an egg. "To ensure she wakes up, I'll give her a big slap."

Her voice also became shrill.

This time, Szur kept his mouth shut. His body shook violently from holding back laughter.

"Errr…. Is it ok?" I grimaced. Ayre's hand now looked five times bigger than her normal hand.

"You wouldn't have the heart to slap a woman, would you, my lord?" Ayre had a bit of difficulty walking due to her poor balance. "Let me do this."
