Gu Ang raised his head, looked at Ye Fei, and moved the corner of his mouth, his voice soft, “It’s me.”

He was very weak, not knowing how to respond.

Ye Fei exasperated, uncoupling the man, “Of course I know it’s you, I’m asking about the other party.”

Gu Ang blinked slowly, his eyes revealing bewilderment, “I don’t know.”

“Don’t know what that means?” Ye Fei narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone rising coldly. “You’re pregnant, and you don’t even know who the father is? Do you think I’m a child?”

His jealousy was like a fire, burning the shell of a gentleman’s hypocrisy to ashes. The one person he couldn’t touch, who got to him first? When he thought about it, he felt his entire heart start to ache.

Gu Ang reached for Ye Fei’s hand but was shrugged off, leaving only empty air, “Are you angry? I really don’t know.”

“Gu Ang, do you mean it for me?” Ye Fei gritted his teeth and took a half step back, clenching his hands into fists, restraining himself from hurting anyone. But the truth was, he felt like he’d been wounded in a thousand ways. Wouldn’t his persistence be a joke if there was someone else’s child? He probably couldn’t be that generous and could do it without minding.

Gu Ang got anxious and took another step forward, “Big brother, let me explain.”

“Talk, I’ll listen.”

Ye Fei’s indifference in front of him turned himself into a sitting iceberg, as if he had reverted to that unreachable person and untouchable. Gu Ang sighed and carefully weighed his words, “I haven’t been with anyone else but you, so I don’t know why I got pregnant. The doctor just said there’s a slim chance that I might have self conceived a child because of my co-developed Alpha and Omega hormones.”

Self-conceived? Are you serious? Ye Fei was speechless, he was silent for a long time before speaking slowly, “So, you never betrayed me.”

His answer came with a sharp sigh of relief. As long as there was no one else, how ridiculous the reason was, he convinced himself to believe it.

Gu Ang shook his head, his expression in a rare confusion, “No. I even panicked when the test came out, I didn’t know what to do. If I did have someone else’s child, what would I tell you, that I’m sick?”

Ye Fei lapsed into silence again, not saying a word. This thing was beyond his knowledge, no one else, he didn’t do it, did Gu Ang really get pregnant on his own? This was ridiculous and magical.

“Do you not believe me?” Gu Ang moved in too, “I can’t help it if you don’t believe me, if you think you can’t take it, then we’ll call it a day.”

Ye Fei grimaced, “Did I say you can’t just bring up the breakup?”

Gu Ang pursed his lips, “But I can’t explain it now and you don’t believe me, so what can I do?”

“I didn’t say I didn’t believe it, I just thought it was ridiculous.”

“Then you’re still suspicious.”

Gu Ang lifted his chin, maintaining what little pride he had left, “The doctor drew my blood, and in a week, we’ll see if there’s any more DNA from the other.”

Ye Fei closed his eyes and rubbed his brow, “Stand still while I go smoke a cigarette away from you.”

Gu Ang couldn’t smell smoke now that he was pregnant. But he needed a few minutes, a nice quiet moment.

Ye Fei strode over to the shade of a nearby garden, bit down on a cigarette and lit it, taking a puff before letting it sit loosely in the clutch. He knew that he was running away. What would the results look like in a week’s time?

Three months pregnant, working backwards, it was when they were on Ice Blue Star. Ye Fei chewed on his cigarette, suddenly remembering the days of the coma. Could someone have taken advantage of the chaos to bully Gu Ang? Or, was this man him?

His mind was blank when he recalled the scene again. The memory felt like it had been cut, half the cause and effect couldn’t be recalled, leaving only the raw pain in his brain.

Ye Fei clutched his cigarette and took another puff, exhaling the smoke slowly. He looked across the dispersing white smoke at Gu Ang, who stood meekly in the doorway, his hands and feet aching with panic and forced composure.

If that was really when it happened, Gu Ang was the victim, regardless of who started it.

Ye Fei stubbed out his cigarette in annoyance and strutted back to Gu Ang, “I’m going to take a tube of my blood and run the labs together to see if the results will come back sooner.”

Gu Ang looked up sharply, “But we didn’t…”

“Anything is possible isn’t it? I’ve marked you so many times, in case your physique is different from others, maybe a temporary mark could make you pregnant.” Ye Fei did his best to convince Gu Ang and was relieving himself.

He didn’t know how he would face it if it did end up finding out that there was someone else. In the past life, he was in control with ease, this was the first time that there was a feeling of being out of control.

Gu Ang licked his lips, “Big brother, I’m sorry for putting you through this.”

Ye Fei shook his head and took a step inside, “You don’t have to apologize to me. Go inside.”

The doctor, still in a daze, saw the two return and froze, “You haven’t left yet?”

“He knows and came back to draw blood.” Gu Ang trifled with the reason.

The doctor pushed his glasses awkwardly, “That… you guys shouldn’t think too much about it, it would be bad if it affected your relationship. I’ll make a slip, go get your blood drawn.”

Ye Fei hmmed with an expressionless face.

“Just go straight to the blood draw department.” The doctor took another look at Ye Fei and tried to persuade, “Don’t worry too much. Gu Ang’s a good kid, he wouldn’t do that kind of unethical thing. I’ll let you know as soon as I get the results.”

“Okay, thanks doctor.” Ye Fei looked to Gu Ang, “Wait for me, I’ll be right back.”

Gu Ang stood still with mixed feelings in his heart, watching Ye Fei run out as fast as the wind.

“You kid, why couldn’t you hold it in for two days? Is it too late to talk about the results when they come out?” The doctor let out a long sigh, “He’s a good kid too, now I guess it’s aggravating.”

Gu Ang dropped his eyes and moved his lips, “I can’t help it, I was panicking too.”

“Forget it, say the words and lighten up.” The doctor reassured him, “It’s probably just what I said, and he should be able to take it.”

Gu Ang sighed and turned to sit down, scratching at his head in annoyance. He was afraid that Ye Fei would just leave and not want him anymore.

After a while the door handle turned open and Ye Fei came in and pulled him, “Finished, let’s go back.”

Gu Ang looked up at him and snapped out of relief, pulling out an ugly smile, “Okay.”

The doctor squeezed out a smile, “Take care on the road.”

The two of them exited the hospital in silence, Ye Fei moved his lips, “Is your stomach still uncomfortable? Should I carry you?”

Gu Ang shook his head and slowly moved his steps, “I can walk.”

“What do you want to eat tonight? Order some light soup to tide you over?”

“I’m not picky, anything’s fine.”

Both conversations were careful and tinged with probing.

Back at the dorm, Ye Fei looked down and took out his communicator to order food, while Gu Ang sat on the couch and stared. He didn’t know how it had suddenly become like this, but it was just a trip to the hospital and everything had changed. Obviously they had just made up yesterday and were still reveling in getting back together. He had even planned to find an opportunity to propose marriage to both parents after some time.

But now a baby came, and all his illusions were shattered.

It was like the two of them were separated by a thick fog, unable to see through each other’s thoughts. Gu Ang couldn’t stand the atmosphere and looked up to call Ye Fei, “Big brother, let’s talk.”

“Talk about what?” Ye Fei tapped his fingertips a few more times before he put down his communicator and walked quickly over to sit across from him.

Gu Ang moved to the side, his tone unkind, “Sit over here.”

Ye Fei twitched the corner of his mouth and said nothing, obediently sitting next to him and putting a cushion behind his waist.

“I don’t know what the outcome will be, but please believe that my love for you has never changed.” Gu Ang paused and pondered for a while before speaking firmly, “If it turns out that the baby has nothing to do with you, if you feel uneasy, the decision is yours. I’m serious, no childish tantrums. “

“I’m not breaking up with you, you don’t have to give me the initiative or the precautions. I just need a little time to ease up and come to terms.” Ye Fei rested his elbows against his knees and twiddled his fingertips. He thought hard about it, and if it was really what happened in those days, Gu Ang had no memory of it and was really innocent. If it was him, of course, it would be best. If it was someone else, he would kill that person himself and take Gu Ang away.

Gu Ang leaned over and rubbed against Ye Fei’s shoulder, as docile as a cat. He put away all his edges and did his utmost to please. Fearing that if Ye Fei’s heart got cold, it would be over for both of them. But he didn’t dare to push Ye Fei, and he meant it when he said that. The choice was Ye Fei’s. It was his choice to take it or leave it.

Gu Ang muttered, “How about aborting it? This kid is from unknown sources, and could mess up our life.”

Ye Fei rolled his throat, suppressing his emotions, “Wait until the results come out.”

Gu Ang blinked, feeling a blur before his eyes, like water splashing through his pupils, “Big brother, could you kiss me? I’m scared.”

He didn’t know if he could still ask for Ye Fei’s love now that he was like this. He felt fear from the bottom of his heart, and the road ahead was confusing.

Ye Fei turned his head sideways and ran his fingertips over the ends of his eyes, wiping away the dampness. He rubbed his forehead against his and kissed it up very gently, “Light, have a little faith in me, I love you more than you could imagine.”

Gu Ang’s heart crisped into a ball, what could he possibly have to do to stumble upon such a wonderful man? He tilted his head and hooked his arms around Ye Fei’s neck and kissed him back hard, unable to wait to even breathe to show how much he loved him.

The deep kiss was interrupted by a knock on the door and Ye Fei let go of him, “I’ll get the takeout.”

Gu Ang got up and sat down at the table, his entire body dazed. It was only when Ye Fei served the soup and handed it to him that the piping hot temperature brought him back to his senses.

Ye Fei straightened his utensils before speaking slowly, “Take tomorrow off and go to Ye’s military hospital for another checkup.”

“I’m afraid that word would get to Uncle’s ears, so find a hospital farther away.” Gu Ang hung his head and drank his soup quietly.

The stillness of the atmosphere now all seemed like luxury. Gu Ang was very good at night, lying down in bed early after his bath, he hugged Ye Fei tightly and burrowed his whole body into his arms. It was like he had no bones and wanted to hang on to him, to be part of his body.

Ye Fei reached out, touching his stomach very gently, “It doesn’t seem to be responding.”

Life really was an amazing thing that just happens out of nowhere. Gu Ang dropped his eyes, watching his fingertips slide back and forth across the small of his back, thinking the scene was just too bizarre. It was amazing that they both got to lie in bed one day and talk about the baby.

“Didn’t it move? Why is it so quiet?” Ye Fei pressed gently again.

Gu Ang fooled himself as he pulled up the covers and closed his eyes, “Maybe it’s just diagnosed wrongly.”

If everything was a nightmare, then hopefully tomorrow he’d wake up back to business as usual.

Early the next morning, the two men, fully armed in their bodysuits and masks, sneaked off to a private hospital quite far from the school. The hospital’s fertility department was the number one on the planet. If they went here, the results would be more authoritative. The hospital was still quite crowded on a working day, and the two took the specialist lane and made an appointment with the doctor in advance.

The registration, the tests, the blood draws, it took half the day and was exhausting. But the results were still the same, pregnant, three months.

Two identical reports put the nail in the coffin on this one.

Gu Ang stood in the hospital corridor with a slightly lost expression, “There’s no misdiagnosis, there really is a baby.”

Ye Fei reached out and stroked his head, “Would have been prepared for that too, expectedly.”

The two men stood opposite each other, each convincing himself to accept the outcome.

“Why are you two here and not in class?” Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded behind him.

Gu Ang jolted and turned around to see that Qin LeHe was holding a pregnant woman with a big belly. He reflexively pulled off his hat and pulled Ye Fei up ready to run for the side safety lane.

Just two steps away, he was pulled by Qin LeHe as she walked quickly up to him, “I’m calling you, what are you running for?”

Gu Ang turned around and smiled awkwardly, “Mom, what are you doing here?”

Qin LeHe returned with a grimace, “I’m here with a friend for a maternity checkup, and I was going to ask you guys. What were you doing in the hospital instead of going to class?”

“A little upset stomach, came to check it out.” Gu Ang said vaguely.

Qin LeHe looked up and down, and then at where Gu Ang had just stood, “No, this floor is the fertility section, you…”

She snapped to mind Gu Ang’s earlier reaction and a fire shot up from the bottom of her heart. She knew it was Gu Ang who’s pregnant.

Qin LeHe grimaced, “Don’t go. You two, come home with me.”

Gu Ang took two steps back and tried to dodge, “Mom, I have to rush back to school.”

“What class? I’ll ask for leave for you.” Qin LeHe glanced at her friend next to her, “Xiao Yue, I need to teach my son a lesson today. When you’re done with the inspection, I’ll ask the driver to take you back.”

Her friend asked suspiciously, “But your son is sick.”

Qin LeHe laughed twice perfunctorily, “There’s something else going on.”

She pulled out her communicator to finish calling the driver while staring at Ye Fei viciously, her eyes almost burning through the person.

Ye Fei winced and whispered, “I think your mother guessed it.”

Gu Ang closed his eyes and kept repeating, “It’s over, it’s over, it’s over.”

Originally, he had purposely not gone to Ye’s military hospital in order to avoid Ye HongFeng. Who knew that running this far, by mistake, could run into his own mother. How did something like turning over a car keep falling on his head?

Qin LeHe held her friend with one hand and pulled Gu Ang’s wrist with the other towards the elevator, “Ye Fei, keep up.”

Ye Fei sighed and hung his head as he followed the trio, his heart drumming in his chest. Qin LeHe was the one who had discovered them, so he couldn’t hide it. How were they going to explain that later when they both didn’t know what was going on?

Qin LeHe put her friend into another car first, then shoved Gu Ang into her car and quickly shut the door.

“Ye Fei, come sit in front.”

Gu Ang muttered, “Spicy like ginger, afraid we’ll conspire.”

Ye Fei sat on the passenger side, his palms sweating. He looked at Qin LeHe driving with a cold face and couldn’t help but speak, “Auntie, you…”

“Stop talking and shut up, I’m angry now, don’t interfere with my driving.” Qin LeHe looked straight ahead without squinting.

Ye Fei pursed his lips and exchanged glances with Gu Ang in the back seat through the reversing mirror. The kid crossed his legs with an annoyed look on his face and didn’t seem to come up with any good ideas. Ye Fei gritted his teeth, ground his teeth and swallowed, or he would admit to it.

Just somehow, he was feeling a little green on the head.

When he arrived at the door, Qin LeHe opened it, and sat down aggressively on the couch, not looking too good. Her brain was also a mess, it was one thing to speculate, it was another to actually come up with results.

Gu Ang was only 18, in his freshman year, young and promising. Having a child at such a young age was just too much for the future.

Ye Fei carefully sat down on the couch next to him and froze himself into a statue. He was waiting, waiting for Qin LeHe to initiate the conversation.

Gu Ang looked around and made awkward small talk, “Dad’s moved already, hasn’t he?”

“Yeah, can’t he move since we’re divorced?” Qin LeHe said back without a smile.

“Oh, that too.” Gu Ang was still talking tough and digressing haphazardly, “What did you call us back for?”

“Don’t you know what I asked you to come back for?” Qin LeHe grimaced, “You two torment me every day, don’t you? I just got divorced two days ago, and you’re here to cause trouble again.”

Gu Ang took two steps forward and reached out to squeeze her shoulders, doing her best to please, “What did I get into? I’m well-behaved. By the way mom, I’m going to play a match with Ye Fei in a couple of days, I’ll be gone for a while, so I’ll want to tell you in advance.”

Qin LeHe raised his voice, “You’re pregnant and you’re going to the game?”

“Preg-pregnant?” Gu Ang almost bit his tongue, “How could I possibly…”

Qin LeHe grunted coldly, “Don’t try to hide it from me, you two came from the fertility department, I’m not blind. Didn’t I ask you last time, those reactions of yours, aren’t they pregnancy symptoms?”

Gu Ang was so scolded that he couldn’t find an excuse for a while. He lowered his voice weakly, “No…”

“Do you want me to pull your test reports?”

Gu Ang didn’t say anything, Qin LeHe had a wide network of people, and this point was still a tactic. Sooner or later, he’d have to admit it, and sooner or later, he’d have to suffer the scolding.

“You’re only eighteen, what the hell are you up to?” Qin LeHe looked at his reaction and was furious. She stood up and wandered around the living room, not resisting the urge to pull out a long, thin cue from behind the couch.

Gu Ang panicked and reached out to stop it, “Mom, calm down, calm down.”

“Aren’t I calm enough?” Qin LeHe tapped the cue on the marble floor, “How many months?”

Gu Ang said vaguely, “Three months.”

“Three months… Enough to be fine.” Qin LeHe nodded with a sneer, “Didn’t you just differentiate? That impatient?”

Ye Fei couldn’t bear to see Gu Ang hanging his head, like a little roadside wretch. Let’s struggle, he thought, he’ll resist it all until he gets down.

Ye Fei stood up from the couch and walked over to explain, “Auntie, it’s not Gu Ang’s fault…”

Qin LeHe interrupted him, “Of course I know it wasn’t Gu Ang’s fault. The fault is all on you, the beast. You got my son pregnant, what are you going to do?”

Ye Fei choked, frozen in place. What to do? He didn’t know what to do?

Gu Ang stepped in front of Ye Fei, “Mom, it’s not what you think, I haven’t checked who the baby’s father is.”

Just take it upon yourself and let his own mother feel that the scum was the one who was good.

Qin LeHe sucked in a cold breath and felt like she was going to have a heart attack. She thought to herself, Ye Fei, the heartless one, had forced Gu Ang to say such things. What ‘in love’, and accompanying people to the hospital, what the hell is the name of the game?

Qin LeHe took two steps forward and struck Ye Fei’s knee with a club, striking without mercy and with a vicious intensity. A crunching sound caused Ye Fei’s veins to pop and Gu Ang’s heart to clench.

Qin LeHe pointed her fingertips at Ye Fei’s face, completely missing the grace a celebrity should have. She was at this point she was a mother who had lost her mind and was desperately trying to protect her son, “Are you a human being or not? You dare not admit that you fucked someone? If I don’t break your legs today, my name is not Qin!”
