Chapter 274 - The Evil Queen

Mexico,

"Heyyyyy…." Ramona called out one of the officers who just pass by her cell to let her out. She already told them that she's someone who they can't afford to offend. However, they just ignore her as other prisoners in the same cell as her.

"Shut up, bitch! You've been yelling since early this morning. Don't your voice cord hurt, huh??" one of the homeless girls who has a scary face snarling at her. She wants to rest inside the cell, but the girl who covered with a high brand from head to toes keeps yelling and make noise.

Ramona ignoring the girl and try to shake the bars, but it was only resulting in her getting beaten by the other cellmate. "Shut up! Can you see we try to get our rest here?"

"Get lost!" Ramona is still trying to defend herself but ends up getting a slap on her face. Not long after, a group of women who is more prominent than her start circling her and beat her up.

Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Slow down your voice! Don't fight in there!" one of the officers only knock the cottar on the steel pole. But, of course, they only stop for a minute before they beat her again.

Ramona finally crawls to the corner of the cell before she spits blood from her mouth. 'Where the hell is Nick, right now? Shouldn't he be coming here after the call I made last night?' she groaning and avert her eyes from looking at the group who beat her up earlier.

It seems like she can't say anything until she is released by the cops. 'Tch! Such a stupid, homeless people!' she curses them.

Meanwhile, at the front desk of the officer who is in charge of Ramona's case comes a girl with her special badge, greeting the detective.

"Good morning, Miss Rochester." the detective greets her politely before taking a case file on his desk to hand over to the girl in front of him.

"Morning, Paulo. How's she doing?" Caitlin smile and took the file from his hand. She arrives this morning to check on the case on Ramona and have her detained without ever getting a chance to get out of the prison.

"She's been making ruckus since yesterday. Just now, I heard she's been ganged up by her cellmates." the man named Paulo said while looking at the entrance of the cells where they held the prisoner.

"Hmm. That's good. That fella needs to learn how to get along with her new friends now." Caitlin's smirking a little while running her eyes on the file. After she's satisfied, she closes the data back and hands it back to the man.

"Oh, here's new evidence to add up on her case." Caitlin took out a small flash drive from her purse and put it on top of the file.

"What is this?" Paulo asked while took the flash drive and looked at it a few times.

"Her old transaction record. Every detail of her dealer and there's a lot of people who in the list. You wouldn't believe it. I'd say…this is your secret weapon to take down a whole big cartel organization. Does this sound good?"

"Seriously? Where did you get this?"

Smiling, she winks at him. "I'm an agent after all. I have my way to find it out. So, you can celebrate your promotion with your family after this. Congratulations, Paulo." she extended her hand to Paulo, and he takes it firmly.

"Thank you for your corporation, Miss Rochester."

"Hmm...I just pay back what I should do long ago." Caitlin shakes his hand, and they part after a while.

When Caitlin walks out of the police station, she saw someone she recognizes before she shakes her head. "Here comes the evil queen." she murmurs and gets into the taxi.

Caitlin's work is now done, and she's waiting for Flynn to finish his task before both of them sending their resignation letter to the central office. They talked last night, and they made a final decision, which both of them agree, and she believes she'll be happy that way.

All she needs to do right now is to cut the ties from the Rochester family registry. Since this morning, the hot news on the search engine has been about her family and her pitiful step-sister. Well, if only they're not greedy, all of this wouldn't happen to them. They reap what they sow.

"To the airport, please." She smiles at the old taxi driver before the man nods his head. Looking at the outside of the window, Caitlin feels like she's finally free. Free from the toxic people.

A big grudge on her chest also feels like it's been lifted up. Right..since she's on holiday, she thought she should find a new home.

Beep!

There's a new message coming in on her WhatsApp application. Without much thinking, she swipes to open the conversation.

'Can we talk?' it was sent by Brian.

Sighing, Caitlin reply to his text with 'What's there to talk about?'

A minute later, another message in, 'I need an answer. But I need to hear it from you.'

Rub her forehead, she knew she has to meet this guy, or this guy will find her at her workplace later. "Fine, I'll just have to repeat it in front of his face." she murmurs and reply, 'I'll send you the location later.'

With that single text from her, Brian sends an 'OK' emoji to her.

Barbara rush into the central police station with her lawyer walking behind her. Once she's at the counter, she slams her hand on the desk and says with a bit loud.

"Where did you put my daughter? Let her out now!"

The officer at the counter blinks her eyes a few times. Not knowing which detainees are this old madam talk. "Your daughter's name, Madam?"

"Ramona! Ramona Wayne!"

The girl tries to search on the computer before a few high-ranking officers come out from their office. "Madam Wayne, this way please." the chief inspector leads both of them to his office.

She's grunt and went to the office with her nostrils flare up like an angry dragon mom when the child is abducted by the bandits.

"Please, have a sit first, Ma'am." the chief and his detective who work on the case look at each other before they nod their head.

Once Barbara took a seat, the chief handing her a set of files. "This file is containing all of your daughter's criminal record. She's been using drugs since she was in high school. She becomes a dealer when she is just in college, and the latest is she was claimed to be the boss by her own drug trader. And she had her own territory now."

Barbara's flipping the page inside the file one by one. She never saw those faces, but there's a page listing Ramona's dealer and partner in doing those activities. From the list of the name, it's all related to the big shot family in New York. Some of them from Chicago and a few from Las Vegas, which she well known.

Ramona often tells her about her friend and how she befriends with those rich kids from a renowned family. Now, after seeing those records and how they actually been 'friend' is making Barbara feel anxious.

What if James know about this? Will he…kill her? She gulped on her own thought.

"No! My daughter won't do something like this. She's from a well-educated family. I think you've mistaken her with someone else!"

The lawyer she brings today also look through the case file. It seems like the case is c.u.mbersome. The sentence for the crime might end her life. Furthermore, she was caught at a different state, and it's kind of hard to fight the case when the list of people and crime she's done is this thick.

"Here's the evidence, ma'am." the chief once again give out another file to her before he continues back. "You're free to bring out your lawyer to fight the case. But, it'll take a long proceeding, and the minimum sentence is not an option too. She'll be transferred to Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women prison tomorrow under the US govt order. Ah…but, don't worry. I heard they arrange for her to be in a medium-security prison. Shouldn't be too bad, I guess."

Hearing the word of Bedford Hills prison, Barbara's eyes turn wider. "What did you say? Who wants to send my daughter to the worst place?! This is unacceptable!"

"I'm sorry, ma'am. This is what your govt wants, and it's already been approved by our govt too. The proceeding will be interesting, I'll make sure to come by when I had free time." the chief then walk to the door and open it again for his guest and the lawyer find her way out.

Grit her teeth, Barbara furiously stands up and leaves the office. Her face was so red, and she was really scared to informing James of what just happen.

"There's nothing we can do, Madam Wayne. We should return to the state and let me find a way to solve your daughter's case." the lawyer said even though he's not sure if he can win or not. Their opponent right now the govt itself. It's such a big case with complicated ways to solve it.
