Chapter 263 - My Voice Matter

"Luna…you came early." Sabrina went to her and hugged her for a moment before she then averts her eyes to Raymond, who's standing next to Luna.

"Oh, nice shirt selection, Raymond." She compliments Raymond, and he just smiles at his sister-in-law.

"My baby choose it for me. I heard Liam and dad is at the tennis court?" He started and looked around them. There's no one there, and luckily they bumped with Sabrina on the way to the tennis court.

"Oh, they both already left the court. We're gonna prepare to have lunch together. Come inside." Sabrina said and looked at the couple. However, the couple's eyes are staring at the lake area.

"Darling..do you still remember that lake?" Luna turned her head to the side and found that Raymond was already staring at her eyes. She blushed a bit.

"I had a faint memory of it. We were..rowing the boat and.."

"Date. We had a beautiful date there." Luna continues his word, and he smiles.

"Hm. I believe it must be romantic, isn't it? Do you wanna.."

"No..no, not now." Luna shakes her head. Of course, if she follows her heart, she wants to do it again with him. But, it'll only blow up her cover..so, it's better to be safe than sorry.

"So, guys… are we going inside?" Sabrina asked again, and both of them chuckles. "Yes, please." A bit embarrassed.

The three of them walk back inside the mansion. When Luna pass by the kitchen, she saw the maid who opens the door for them before was secretly putting something on the dishes when no one in the kitchen.

'So, she planned on to get back at me, huh?' Luna squinting her eyes before she averts her eyes back to Sabrina at her front.

'Fine. I'll play your game. Don't regret it later.'

Luna sits beside Raymond and a few seats away from Barbara and James. The dishes for lunch look delicious. Unfortunately, she can't just casually eat it.

She sighs inwardly.

"Something wrong, Luna?" Liam asks her when he heard a faint sighed out from Luna's mouth.

Looking at the man, she bitterly smiles at him. "Hmm..usually, I have my own maid to taste my meal first before I eat. You know, I'm very particular about what I eat." She deliberately glances at Barbara, who was sipping on her drink. She looks a bit surprised, but she tries to cover it so that she would not look so obvious.

"I see. Then, I'll ask someone to taste your meals first, is that okay?" Liam smile at her. Telling her that she shouldn't worry about it.

However, Sabrina raises her eyebrow a bit. She knows something must have happened that she doesn't know.

Luna is not picky about her meal. She can eat a lot without even care about the ingredients, but since she requests the dish to be tasted, there must be something on her plate.

"If you don't mind, can I personally choose the maid to taste it first?" Luna glances at everyone. Well, she was just being polite to ask Liam. The truth is she already had someone who she wants to aim for.

"Sure." Liam nodded his head, agree with her request. He then asks all of the maids to form a line behind the dining table.

When all of them focus on Luna, Raymond still stays calm and didn't say anything. He knew there's must be a solid reason as to why Luna asked for her meals to be tasted first.

Luna look at a line of the maid who's standing behind the dining hall. She's pretending to choose them while she actually already know who she wants to pick as her subject.

After a few seconds, she slowly curves her lips before pointing at the maid, who keeps her head down, sweating and a bit shaking while Luna was looking at them.

"You. Come and taste my meal, please." She then turned around and sat back at the chair, elegantly.

"Amber, is it? Come forward, and do as my guest says." Liam looks at the maid and instructs her to pick up the spoon on the table.

She slowly walks to the table while keep glancing at Barbara. Her actions were caught on the spot by Liam and Raymond.

"Why did you keep glancing on my mom? Did she ask you to do something odd??" Raymond shoots his question, which then the maid flinched and started to tremble.

Barbara snort while placing back her fork at the side of the plate. "Nonsense. Why would I do that?" She lifts up her head to look at Raymond with a cold expression before she glare at the maids.

Shrugged his shoulder, Raymond said. "Who knows..you're quite vile towards my future 'wife,' mom," he smirks while continue to forked his meals.

"So, what are you waiting for, Miss Amber? Just taste the meals if you didn't do anything wrong." Sabrina opened her mouth when Amber was still frozen beside the table.

"I..I.." she's stammering while her hands are still shaking.

"Can't we skip this? This totally ruins my mood." James starts to voice out his mind. Why would they all fire up just because of the meals? 'Such a spoiled bitch!'

"I'm sorry if you feel uncomfortable, dad. However, I invite Miss Luna here as an important guest. Shouldn't we treat our guest like a king, no?" Liam looks at his father, calmly.

"Why would she be considered as our important guest? I didn't even invite her here to my house."

"True, you didn't invite her, but dad..did you forget something? This is a house where only a clan leader family can stay inside." He smiles and continues again. "And as far as I remember, your time as a 'future' leader has already gone, dad; this is technically my house, and I'm the one in charge here—my voice matter."

James clenches his jaw and glares at his first son. The sudden urge to kill him suddenly pop out in his mind.

"Oh, I'm just saying dad..don't take it to your heart. You can stay here if you want. But you still need to follow my rules." Liam then averts his eyes back to the maid. The four of them are still waiting for the maid to eat the dish on Luna's plate.

When she can't endure the intense gaze from the four of them, she finally gives up and kneeling on the floor while crying. "I'm sorry, Miss Luna, Master Liam…I…I didn't dare to test it. I…I put some-something on the dishes." She then grabs on Luna's leg before Luna shoves her hands off of her legs.

"Don't beg me, please," Luna warned her, and Raymond glared at the maid. "Who instructs you to harm my fiancee?" he asked coldly.

Stammering, she tries to wipe her tears using her back of the hand. "It's…it's.." She tries to peek at Barbara. And as she could guess, …she can never say her name.

"Please sir…it's my fault. There's no one asked me to."

Liam then looks at Luna. "So, what you say?"

Sighing, Luna then shakes her head. "Don't show your face around me again," Luna said to the maid, and Sabrina asks someone to bring Luna another plate.

"Amber, pack your belonging and wait for the police to escort you to the station," Liam said his final word, and Amber cry in fear. She then was dragged away by a few other maids to get out of the dining hall.

Barbara somehow looks a bit relieved, and it was caught on Raymond's eyes. "You look relieve, huh? Did you hold your breath earlier?" he intently provokes his mother.

"Don't be so rude, Raymond," James warned him from beside his wife. He knew this must be something that Barbara do.

And even if the maid opens her mouth, he's gonna personally punish his wife for doing something so rashly. Right now, all he could do is to cover up for his wife's mess! That includes murdering the maid before they reach the station.

"What? I just state something obvious." Raymond still not satisfied with Amber's answer. He knew there's something that she hides from all of them.

Luna also knew something is going on. Thus, she secretly text Rose to follow Amber silently to the police station later. She needs to get the truth from her before her lives are taken by the culprit, just like Dr. Fang and his wife's incident.

They continue their lunch afterward and having a light conversation. However, James and Barbara left the dining hall earlier to rest, although they all know that's not the real reason.
