Chapter 254 - If You Can Love Me.

"Cait, there's something I-"

Bzz bzz

The vibrating sound makes him stop his word, and Caitlin immediately finds her phone inside her handbag. "Sorry, just a minute." She said while taking out her phone.

Looking at the caller ID, she bit her lips. She turns it off, and that's when their dining door suddenly being opened by someone.

They both look calm like it's nothing to be afraid of when that person storming inside their room. "Why didn't you pick up your phone?" Brian coldly asked, and when his eyes landed on the rose bouquet, he flares up even more.

"What do you want, Mr. Ben?" Caitlin reply with her annoyed face. He really knows how to ruin the mood between her and Flynn.

"What is this? You're flirting with another guy behind my back?" he took the roses and ready to throw it on the floor.

But before he could do it, Flynn held his arm with strong. "Mr. Lawrence, you are currently interrupting our dinner. Could you please not make a scene here?" He said calmly while signaling him that there are a few other customers already holding up their phone. It'll go viral if he dares to make a scene now.

"Hmph!" He shakes off his arm from Flynn's grip. Looking back at Caitlin, Brian said while holding his voice to not yelled at her, "You. Get into my car. Right now!"

Rolled her eyes, Caitlin still sitting on the chair, sipping her drink and take her handbag.

"Cait, you don't have to leave if you don't want to. I can settle it with him." Flynn's adjusting his tie a little and glared at the man with fierce. He really doesn't like how this arrogant guy treats Caitlin like she's an object to him.

"Mr. Lawrence, I think we should talk." He said and ready to leave the dining hall.

Fighting with her own emotions, Caitlin finally stood up from her chair. "Flynn, let's end our dinner tonight." She said and went to the man. Kissing on his cheek, she said while smiling, "I'll contact you later. Thank you for the wonderful dinner."

Before she walks away from him, Flynn grabs on her arm. He is looking straight to her eyes. Like asking her a question, as to why she's still obedient to him while he is treating her like a thing.

Caitlin's heart feels a bit hurt, looking at his face right now. He seems a bit sad and disappointed. "I'll be fine." She slowly takes off his hand from her and walks away.

Flynn sighed heavily and went back to his seat. Looking outside of the window where he can see Caitlin and that guy get into the car and go.

After some time, he pays the bills and takes out a little box from inside his suit pocket. He ruffled his hair and went to the park near the restaurant. He is hoping that Caitlin will call him sooner.

Inside the car, Brian did not utter one word at all, and Caitlin also didn't bother to open her mouth. They keep silent, and Brian vents his anger by driving the car like a mad person.

If Caitlin did not join the CIA, she probably already shrieking and trembling seeing how this man driving his car. Like Dominic Toretto!

She swears him inwardly if they got into accidents, she will make sure he'll die first in the crash. However, she had to admit that this guy quite skillful. 'Alright, stop it, Caitlin! This is not the time to praise his driving skill!'

He went to his penthouse basement parking. Turning off the car engine, he bammed the steering loudly with his hands. "What the hell you think you're doing, Caitlin?" He glares at her.

Caitlin did not budge at all. She turns her head to him and says, "Why you care, Ben? You never see me in your entire life, why now you care to what I do and don't?"

"Caitlin, don't fuck with me! Our engagement day is just less than two weeks now. You dare to humiliate me, I'll make sure to crumble your family beyond you can imagine." He threatens her.

Scoffed, Caitlin rubs her forehead. "You think I care about them? They abandon me, Ben. Just like you years ago. Why would I care what you do to them?"

Losing his control, he pushed her body back to her seat and almost chock her with his arm. With the speed of light too, Caitlin draws out her gun and points it under Brian's chin.

"May I remind you, Mr. Ben, of who am I? I don't mind killing you, you know. But because I respect your family, I give you a face and listen to your nonsense."

Brian withdraws his arm back and leans on his leather seat. He closes his eyes and rubs the bridge of his nose. "Listen, I don't want to hurt you."

Caitlin shoves the gun back into her handbag. "I want us to start over. I know I do something bad in the past. But can you give me a second chance?"

"Do you love me, Ben?" She asked and shook her head afterward. "That's the wrong question, sorry. I meant to ask, do you ever love me, Ben?"

He bits his lips. Not knowing what answer he should give to Caitlin. He was well aware of her existence in his life. She's a good fiancee and an obedient girl. Everything he decided for her, she just goes along with it.

But why, why can't he love her like how he loves Lisa? Why can't he develop any feelings for her? But, even he said he don't love her, why did he feel furious when seeing her with another man? Why does he feel pressure and despise whoever tries to snatch her from his grasp? He always thinks that she's his.

But at the same time, he can't identify yet what feeling he had for her.

"You don't have the answer, don't you?" Caitlin didn't feel sad at all. She smiles and grabs on the doorknob. "Why waste your time chasing me and treat me like your accessories when you're not in love with me? Why would I have to give you a second chance when I never had a chance before? Why, Ben? Why? You may have 'me' in the next few days, but you'll never have my heart. Do you realize that? If you know that…then let me go now. I'm tired, and I need to rest."

Brian didn't answer her as he then unlocks the car. Caitlin opens it and walks back to the main road. She was grunting when she had to find a taxi to return back to Philadelphia.

When she was about to hail a taxi, she saw a car which is she recognizes, parking at the roadside. She walks to the car and knocks on the glass window.

Unlock the door, Caitlin gets inside the car. "Thank you for picking me up. Even though I didn't ask to," she said.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to follow you. But I was worried." Flynn said. He clearly sounds guilty right now.

Chuckles, Caitlin pat on his arm. "Hey, there something I want to talk with you. Can we go somewhere quiet than here?"

Looked at her face, he nodded. "Sure." He started the car engine and took a highway to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

It's not far from the city. It just took less than thirty minutes to arrives. Brian parks his car at the parking lot and turns off the engine. They both got out of the car and went to find a bench, facing the beach.

"I…once was almost married that guy earlier." Caitlin opens her mouth. Ready to tell him about her past stories. She's standing at the patio while leaning to the rails, also looking at the beach.

"I was his fiancee, from seven years ago, before he married another woman five years ago. I never love any man in my life other than him before. So, you could guess how I really love him before."

"I sacrifice everything so that he could have a better life even though he didn't see my effort or notice my being at his side. I thought that one day, he'd be marrying me and sooner or later, he'll come to love me. But I was wrong. He loves someone else."

"Someone who he crazily in love and ready to throw me away for that girl. He and my family abandoned me. I had nowhere to go until Madeline..she picks me up from prison and let me train with you. I never thought of loving someone else again. Not until…I really open up my heart to someone else."

Her tears fall a bit, and Flynn went to her. Covering her body with his jacket and hug her gently from behind.

"I'd be happy if you can love me. I'll protect and treat you like no one can. I'll spoil you and only love you for my entire life." He said and leaned his head on her back of the head.

"I love you, Cait. I truly love you."
