Chapter 240 - She Deserves To Be Happy

Rochester mansion,

Sarah enters the house with her luggage, and before she could go to her bedroom, a maid said that her father needs to see her right now. Without changing her clothes, she went to her father's study.

"You want to see me?" Sarah said from the door frame while looking at her father, which immerse in his work. Looked up at the door, Stephen smile and invited her in.

"Come here. I need to talk to you." He said and stand up from his desk to the couch. Sarah also went to the couch and took a seat beside her father.

"What is it about? I'm tired, dad.."

Stephen's eyes still sparkle like hoping she would agree with his plan. "So, how was your holiday? You don't look excited after coming home."

Groaning, Sarah rolls her eyes. "It's a disaster." Yes, it is a disaster for her because they knew what she does to Luna. But, as long Luna is dead, then at least, she's happy about that fact.

Regarding the possibility that she would get arrested, maybe she can ask for her mother's help? Her mother had a secure connection with someone from the law department, so she can use it to protect herself, right? She starts thinking of seeing her mother after this.

"Well, I think you should stop pursuing the Wayne now," Stephen said, and Sarah snapped her head to her father. "What?"

"You've heard me, aren't you? I have a better plan for you. Someone which is far greater than the Wayne. What you say?"

Sarah silent for a moment before she said again, "What do you mean by someone far greater than the Wayne? What do you want me to do?"

Stephen grins, "Simple. He just wants a fiancee, and shall you be one for him."

Sarah dumbfounded by her father's statement. "Wait, who is this person?" she still couldn't believe there is another way around to protect herself. If she was about to become someone's higher than Wayne's clan, then maybe she can avoid any attempt to make her go to jail? This is like to kill two birds with one stone for her.

"Um…well, you know him by name too. It's Benedict Lawrence."

"Lawrence?" Sarah knit her eyebrows. "Isn't he already had two children?" She asked again. She thought it is a single young man, but she was wrong. This guy already at the same age as Liam and already had two children.

Well, she knows about this news is because he revealed his daughter and son when he went to her almost-wedding ceremony last time.

"Yes, him," Stephen replies with a smile on his face while Sarah opens her mouth. "Dad..he's already had two children, how am I going to be a mother like this…instant? I'm not ready, and Ben still had one younger brother and still single, right?"

The bright face of Stephen turns dark when Sarah said something like that. It is a hard opportunity for the man himself to offer to be his son-in-law, and his ungrateful daughter dare to refuse him? Not only Caitlin but Sarah also? Why? Just because he had two children?

"I don't see anything is wrong with it. By hook or by crook, I want you to be Ben's fiancee. He's household is much stronger than Wayne. Keep that in your mind. Or…you don't mind of not being one of Rochester again?"

Sarah gulped. Yup, she forgets that her father was threatening her to dispel her from the family if she can't have her face back. "Fine. I'll do it."

'Anyway, how hard it can be to deal with two children? They just a bunch of creature with less brain than the adult, right?' with that being said, Sarah dismiss herself from her father's study room.

Brian's mansion,

"Hey, are you guys asleep yet?" Brian peeks from the door frame. He just returned to his home after solving the problem that matter with the Hawkeye.

"Daddy!" Lily runs to him and hugs him dearly. She's been missing him, and these few days feel empty without both of their parents.

"Hmm, did you behave while I was gone?" Brian carries Lily on his arm and ruffles on Alex's hair. Alex also went to him and hugged him before Brian took Lily on his arm.

"Of course!" they both said it simultaneously.

"Good, I have news for you guys. But, I'm afraid of your rejection." Brian starts and walks to the living area inside the playroom. He saw there are a few lego blocks that either one of them created. But, what makes him frowned a bit is because the lego block that they created seems complicated.

Of course, it is. Lily and Alex built a whole town using a lego block and very detailed too. Even as an adult, Brian thought it was hard to make it.

Seeing her father was being distracted to notice their project at the center of the playroom, Lily cupped his face and made him look at her. "What is it, daddy?"

Brian returns to think back about how did he tell them. Alex also notices that Brian looks at their creative 'art,' and he runs to find a cloth and cover it without getting caught by Brian.

When they already sit down, Alex took a seat beside Brian, patiently wait for her daddy to say what's on his mind. Looking at both of them, Brian sucks a deep breath before he finally utters it.

"I want…to marry someone."

Lily opens her mouth. Feeling a bit worried. "Who is it?"

"Really? I'm so happy for you, daddy!" Alex said without much thinking. Well, for him, as long both of his mama and daddy can live happily with the person they love, he'll be much happy for it. No one should suffer, right?

Lily glared at Alex, and he scrunches his eyebrow afterward. 'What? Did I say something wrong?'

Brian softly laughs, seeing his daughter expression. It's priceless. She's totally dumbstruck by his word. "Well, she's my long acquaintance. Miss Caitlin."

Hearing the name, Lily once again becomes anxious. It's not like she hates her, no. But, the thing is…she afraid that her daddy will hurt her again. Caitlin is already pitiful enough from memory she watches last time.

'Why would daddy want to cage her life again? No! I can't let this happen. She deserves to be happy and not with my daddy.'

"Do you…" Lily stared at Brian's face. Her face somehow looks just like his wife. It makes Brian turn a bit soft. "Do you love her, daddy?"

Brian silent when Lily asks him with something like that. It's like hearing it from Lisa itself. He opens his mouth before he closes it. He then averts his eyes elsewhere. "She's a great woman. She loves me, and I believe she can be a good mother to you, and even Alex too."

Lily shakes her head. "Don't daddy. Don't hurt someone else heart again." She murmurs, and Brian scrunches his eyebrow a bit. Thinking that maybe he heard it wrong?

"What did you say, honey?"

Lily looks at him again while Alex keeps silent and watch Lily's expression. Clearly, there's something that Lily didn't tell him about this girl named Caitlin. She must have known this girl somehow.

"I say…." Lily stops her word before she forcefully smiles at him. "I don't want any mother because I have a mama. I don't want to betray mama's love."

Brian blinks his eyes. He then hugs Lily and caresses her hair. "But, she'll be a good mother to you too. Why don't you know her first…okay?"

Lily still shake her head.

"Honey…engagement is not a marriage. It's a phase where we, adults, get to know each other more before we went to the stage of marriage. I believe you'll get along with her. She likes children." He said as he knows that Caitlin often visits the orphanage and give some donations.

She looks happy when she played with them, so he believes Caitlin could love his daughter too.
