Chapter 211 - A Bird Without A Wing Cannot Fly.

"You're okay, Lily?" Alex pat on Lily's back. She looks distracted today and somehow seems dejected.

Lily shakes her head, "I'm...so confused right now. I mean, I finally figured out how I'm like this, and I..." Lily put down her spoon. She feels sad with just the thought of her mother probably didn't even want her in the first place.

Alex took her spoon and scooped the cereal inside her bowl before he shoves it into her mouth. "Relax.. we're only four years old. Why you have to think so hard? Isn't it good that we can enjoy our life?"

Lily speechless with Alex's comment. Well, isn't he also cry like a baby after knowing the truth of his family? Lily thinks she finally understands how Alex felt that time. Miserable and helplessness.

She snatches the spoon on Alex's hand before she's squinting her eyes to him, "You don't know what I watched yesterday, and how can you ask me to chill?"

"Whatever you watched yesterday, isn't it already in the past? You can't change the past, you know. But...you can change the future." Alex smirk at her and continue to eat his breakfast.

"You've changed. Aren't you curious where mama and your papa right now is? Aren't you worried?"

Alex shrugged her shoulder. "I don't know where they are, but I know they're pretty much safe. Hey, it's not our love story. Don't butt in and just let the adult handle their stuff, okay?"

Lily sighs. "Hey, cover me up for today, can you? I need to return back this treasure to that man." Lily shows him a necklace on her hand.

Alex nods his head. "Okay..but since I already cover up for you almost like three times.." He grinned before continue again, "You have to grant me three wishes, and you can't say no to each of that."

Lily rolled her eyes to him. "Fine..you now know how to do business now, huh?"

Alex laughs. "Hey kids, good morning. What's your schedule for today, hmm?" Jamal walks to the dining room and checks on their schedule on his phone.

"Umm... Actually, it just two of us." Alex said and looked at Jamal's face. He seems a bit confused about what Alex just said.

"Why?"

"Lily had a private lesson in her room today. It's not updated yet in the schedule, but I'm in a different lesson than her. So, it's only us two for today." He smiles, innocently.

"Oh..I see. So, are you done eating?" Jamal asked, and Alex nods his head. "Yup. I'm done."

"We're going to a martial art class, aren't we?" He blinks his eyes to Jamal a few times. Again Jamal was dumbfounded a bit.

"Do we? Is it not a music class?" He checked on the schedule again.

"No...I had a trial class in downtown. I think maybe your schedule is not updated yet. Don't worry. I'll let daddy know later." He walks out of the dining room, followed by Jamal behind him.

Lily scoffed at his lies. Well, not bad. He even arranges her transport now to going to the park. 'Good job, Alex.' She immediately wipes her mouth with a napkin and runs to the parking lot.

Finding Jamal's car and hide inside the trunk.

Lily send a text to Harry's phone, which she asks Kiera to give his detail to her. She wants to meet at the park near the judo class where Alex has a lesson today.

Her text got an 'okay' reply from the man. When she arrives, he already sat at the bench, giving a few pigeons a crumb of bread.

Lily took a big breath before she walks to him slowly. "Here, thank you." She stretches out her hand, giving him back his necklace with two rods of the device as a pendant.

Harry took the necklace and glance at the girl for a moment. "You look calm. Very much like your mother." He comments and put on the chain.

Lily takes a seat beside him while looking at the pigeon, which still plucking the bread crumbs on the ground.

"Why aren't you married yet? I mean..there are plenty of girls out there that can suit you and mend your heart other than my mother." She starts. She knows its none of her business, but she would feel sad if this man keeps waiting for something that is long gone.

Harry chuckles and glances at her again. "Hmm..have you ever heard about a myth of Halcyon Bird?"

Lily scrunched her eyebrow and shook her head a little. "No."

Harry smiles again, gladly will tell her the story of the Halcyon bird.

"Long ago, Alcyone married Ceyx. Their love was so passionate that even Zeus got envious. But their love did not last. One day, despite a storm, Ceyx sailed out to the sea and died on his voyage."

Lily tilted her head before Harry continues again. "Before he died, he prayed to Poseidon, the god of the sea. To return his body to his beloved wife."

"On the other hand, Alcyone begged to the goddess Hera for Ceyx's safe return. But it was too late to save Ceyx. She found his husband's body at the shore. Out of despair, she threw herself into an ocean." Lily gulp a bit.

"Amazed by their love and devotion to each other, the Gods transformed them both into a beautiful bird known as Halcyon bird." Harry turned his face to the pigeon again.

Lily tries to stomach all of that story just now. "So, what's the connection of that story and yours?"

Harry chuckles and says. "I'm like a bird. But I have lost one of my wings. A bird without a wing cannot fly."

Lily frowned. "But-"

"Let's say.." He interjects her, "My love devotion is too deep that one cannot live without another. But I cannot commit suicide, can I? Have this answered your curiosity?"

Lily silent. She doesn't know why, but the guilty in heart thickened when she knew someone loves her mother so deep, and yet, because of the fate and circumstance that cannot be changed, they had to separate this way. Their love is an example of 'star-crossed lovers.'

"I'm sorry." Lily murmur. Her eyes were teary a bit.

Harry faintly smiles and pats on her hair softly. "It's not even your fault."

He let her cry and give his handkerchief. A moment later, his phone got a bundle of texts from who else, if not his beloved nephew. He ignores it until Lily finally calms down.

"I think that's all for now. You take care of yourself." Harry stood up and ready to leave her.

Lily also standing up and nodded her head. "Just…tell me if you ever need anything, okay? I'll help you out." She said earnestly.

Smiling, he nods. Well, he doesn't need Lily's help at all since he got that cheeky nephew back at the mansion. After all, he wants to stay low and live like regular people until his fate brings him back to the one he loved.

Lily runs back to Jamal's car and hides again at the trunk while waiting for Alex to finish his trial class. Luckily it's not too long, and they safely arrive at home after 3 p.m.

Alex didn't ask her what happen as he pretty much respects her privacy. If she wants to tell, she'll say. If not, it not a problem for him too. Now he wonders, what is his mother doing at the mountain there?

Are they going to tell him that he will have another sibling when they're back or it's getting back like before? He sighs.

'Adult life is such a messy and complicated. What mine will look li ke?' He tilts his head, looking at the outside of the window.

'Nah…I'm handsome and clever. Probably won't have much problem, right ?'

"Alex.." Jamal pops up from the door frame while holding a tennis racket. "Tennis time." He said, and Alex nod before he runs to him.

"Alright. Who loses today need to do sits up 50 times, okay?" Alex put on a bet. Well, it's good for both of them. To exercise and play at the same time.

Jamal shrugged his shoulder. "Okay..bring it on. I'll go easy on you."

"Oh…please don't." Alex grin at him.
