Chapter 41 - Best Mom Ever!

2019, the present time.

"Don't forget your homework, always be careful and happy holiday children!" Teacher Anna waves her hand toward the kindergarten pupils. Today's is the last day of school before two weeks of school break started.

Alex took his bag and look at the girl who also does the same thing as him at his next table.

"Lily! Let's go." He reached out his hand to the girl and both of them walk to the school gate.

Standing beside the red Audi, a man in his middle of thirty smile widely seeing both of his children already out of the school. He bends down and opens wide his arm to both of them. Ready to hug them.

"Daddy!!" Alex and Lily both scream in unison upon seeing the man. They run and embracing the man as if they haven't seen him for a whole year.

"Lily, Alex...I miss you guys." The man said as he hugs both of them. It's been two months since last he meet them due to the work at his HQ branch.

This time, he makes sure to get a long break from his work for two weeks full to spend it all his time with his precious child.

"We miss you too, Daddy!" Lily kiss him on the cheek.

Smiling contently, he then lifts both of them on his arm and opens the car door, puts them into the booster seat, put on the seat belt and makes sure they comfortable enough before he went to the driver seat.

Once he starts the car, Brian, looked at Alex through the back mirror.

"Alex, I just got a message from your mother. She said that tomorrow you will go on a trip with aunt Nana for a week. She had a sudden changing of schedule this week. So, I'll help you to pack your bag tonight, alright?" Brian feels sorry for him, if Luna did not send him to Nana, he'll be more than willing to take care of him.

"Okay, daddy." He smiles. Not showing any hint of sadness at all. It is supposed to be her mother's free week because she already covers up a few month's traveling tour jobs just to have this awaiting vacation. It looks like they have to postpone it again.

"Then..before we return home, how about if we go and eat ice cream?"

"Yeay!! Lily wants three scoops!" Lily happily said with a grinning on her face.

"Wow..can you even finish that, honey? You gonna break your teeth if you eat too much sweet, you know?" Brian teased his baby daughter.

"I can! Right, Alex?"

"Yeah..but, mama always limits us to only have two scoops only."

"Aww…but, mama is not here. So we can have three scoops, right daddy?"

Brian chuckle to hear how Lily gonna manipulate the statement until she gets the three scoops ice cream.

"Hmm…if you guys behave, then I'll get you three scoops ice cream. But, don't tell mama about this. Or, she'll nag at me, we don't want that, right?" he winks at them through the back mirror.

"Alright!"

Ding!

Luna lazily opened her eyes, she falls asleep on the couch after she returns home. She sits up and looks at the clock hanging on the wall.

"Ugh…It's already 7.00 o'clock?" she rubs her eyes a few times before she finds her handbag and fishing her phone from the handbag.

Looking at the screen, there's one notification from Brian. She smiles a little and opens the text.

'Alex'll staying with me tonight, I'll send him to Nana tomorrow, you should have a good rest tonight.' and there's a love emoji at the end of the text.

Luna tap her finger on the screen before she replies to his text.

'Alright. Let's spend time once I finish my work next week.' she put a wink emoji before she taps on the 'send' button.

She then put the phone on the coffee table and went to take a shower. Today she had a long dream that makes her body wet with sweat. A dream about her past that she wants to get rid of it. A dream that she really hopes is only a dream.

Another neighborhood,

Brian who just finished showered, look at his phone when he heard a 'ding' sound.

Open the text, he smiles.

"You... let us have a good life in the future." He murmurs and finds his clothes to wear for tonight.

He already promised the kids that tonight, he will bring them to eat outside. The maid will come tomorrow and he also didn't buy any groceries yet.

He often traveling because of work and Lily is always under Luna's care while he was away. Only when he returned, he will take a turn to take care of the children. It's been like that since four years ago. The first time he met Luna is at the hospital ground, the night when both of the children are born.

Like its been destinated, they both need each other and so the babies are. Luna and Brian raise the children together but they still not bound to the marriage phase yet. Maybe because of both of them hard to forget about the past. However, with the times..both of them start to move forward.

"Daddy!" Lily jutting her head from the bedroom door just after Brian wears his t-shirt.

"Yes, my love?" He slowly bends down to leveling his eyes with his daughter.

"Is mama not going with us tonight?" She tilted her head a little. Hoping that tonight, mama will join them. It's been a while since they have dinner together as a family.

She always wonders why her family is a bit odd, their friend always saying that their parents staying together, sleep together, eat together and do everything together but not her and Alex's parent.

Both daddy and mama staying separately and they both working, even though her father is more than able to support their life for generations without even lacking money, but mama..she always working.

Even though her mama always working, she didn't lack a mother's love at all. She's the best mom ever!

"I let mama rest tonight. She needs a looottt of energy to work for tomorrow. But, tomorrow after we send Alex, we have to go and meet with grandma and grandpa too. You missed them too, right?"
