Chapter 397 5 - Chosen
Skyy exercised as hard as he could. That rage he felt that day did not dissipate. He could still feel his blood boiling at the thought of what had happened to Kyle.
Panting he gazed at his reflection. His muscles had developed much more than usual and his eyes... weirdly they had a blue glow to them. it looked eerily weird. If the organization finds out he had something wrong with him they will start to experiment on him. so, he hid it.
He hid it from anyone.
He hid it from the cameras in his room by keeping his head lowered.
He gently touched the corner of his eyes. 'This will disappear only when I'm calm... but I'm not calm.'
He was in a hurry. They didn't have any time. it had only been two days since Kyle was chosen. They will assign him another partner soon. He had to make sure to get ready.
Dejectedly, Skyy sat on the cold ground. 'What is the use in preparing... we can't even run away...'
The steel door was too hard for anyone to break. They had no way out.
The escape pods seemed like a great idea, but they both had no clue how to even set up the self-driving sequence.
Skyy shook his head hard. 'I can't lose hope. One way or another, we will escape. We will leave! We must leave...'
He took the hard-bound leather book and opened it randomly. He used his nails to redraw the map he had memorized.
Suddenly, a steady sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway.
Skyy hurriedly suffused the book in his pants.
'They are here again! Who is going to be chosen this time?' he hurriedly wiped his sweat off. But a glimpse at his reflection made him panic.
'My eyes! I need to calm down.' He sat in a meditative position and started to take deep breaths.
The sound of footsteps did not help either.
It only made his small heart jump.
'don't listen... one... two...' he continued to breathe in and out calmly.
The keys jingled close to his door and soon the door opened, letting in slightly warmer air inside.
Sky comely froze up.
He was chosen.
"PW54, please follow me." The man said in a stern tone.
Skyy stood up but refused to open his eyes. He turned around. "I'll change." He slightly peaked at his reflection. Thankfully his eyes had returned to normal
"don't drag your legs. Move." The man snapped.
He quickly changed into his new shirt and left the room. Unlike before, he did not panic. This was finally his chance to make a break.
it was approximately two days since the maintenance day, so Kyle also would be taken out to meet his newly assigned partner. This was a chance they could escape together.
He was, for once, grateful that he was chosen this day.
Skyy lowered his head and followed the man to the special door at the end of the corridor. He spotted the man using a card to scan at a certain lit spot. Then the doors opened for them.
'I need that.' he mentally noted it down.
Slowly, they moved to another door. This one the man stood in front of the sensor to scan his eyes.
'His eyes are the key... this one is going to be difficult to break through.'
This pathway they were taking was the one his best friend had drawn for him. behind the third door were the rooms where the selected PWs would meet their assigned partner for the night. they were made to stay together for three days and sent to the doctor to be checked. If they don't end up pregnant, they are assigned another partner after three days.
'Kyle will get here in a day. I just need to hold on for a bit.' He thought, gritting his teeth.
His eyes roamed around, searching for things to use as a weapon. Their confinement room did not have any furniture except the bed that was mounted to the walls. They were not even provided with cutlery for fear they might use it to self-harm.
But this guest room had everything.
It looked like one of the catalogs of the ancient human room he had seen in the library. it had a black-grey bed, a table in the center, and a weird bench where a cage was placed.
This was just one of the rooms. Opposite to them was the other room. Kyle will most likely be brought there.
Skyy noted the opposite room before the doors closed.
The guys who took him here just left him without a word.
He just stood there, not knowing what to do because the room was empty.
"They sent a tall one this time," a soft voice whispered from behind.
Stunned, Skyy flinched to the side and hid in the corner of the room.
The man walked out of an inbuilt bathroom in the room wiping his wet hands. he was on the shorter side, as tall as Kyle. The weird thing was the man's complexion looked very weird. He had green-brown veins that ran through his body including his face. It made him look slightly sickly and deary.
"Had a good look?" the man coldly wore his glasses.
Skyy wordlessly sat on the ground. If the man was going to attack him, he was going to use all his strength to crush his throat. 'He looked thin. I would be able to take care of him,'
"don't have any bad thoughts, little one," the man whispered with a sigh. "I won't do anything to you," mumbling he went to the long weird table. He pulled out a huge case from under the bed and started to take out glass beakers and such.
He set up his table and started to do something.
'Scientist... he is using chemicals.'
He had only read vaguely about this job. They were known to be the smartest people. And with their innovation, human kind was able to create prototype women.
'I hate scientists!' Skyy gritted his teeth.
"Squeak!!" it seemed like he was not the only one who hated this man.
The little creature from the cage screamed out in fury, punching the cage loudly every time the man came close.
The rat looked like a huge fluffy ball.
Skyy's curiosity was piqued. He had never seen another living creature before. Only read about them.
He cautiously stepped closer.
"it's dangerous," the man said coldly.
But he did not bother.
Skyy stepped up to the rat curiously with a smile.
Suddenly, the rat froze. its small beady black eyes started to tear up, and its cries turned mournful. Its small paws reached out through the cage, trying to touch him.n-)o(-v/-e--1-/B--1/)n
Skyy gently touched its small paws in glee.
"Hmm, it seems to like you. weird... it never responded positively to anyone." Saying so, the man continued to fiddle with his beakers.
