Chapter 58 - 58.Genius...

After that, the two lonely kids who had a very lonely childhood would be found stuck to each other everywhere they went.

They will be holding the other's hand in their own, in matching outfits, they will be running inside the mansion every day.

Meilin got a study partner too.

He was a true genius by definition!!

When he came, his understanding and comprehension of the academics were that of a 1st year in primary school at most, he was clearly undereducated but in about a month or so, he was already at the level of Meilin who was tackling middle school-level questions at that time.

The hard work he put in and the support she provided with the treasure of her years of access and interest in knowledge, didn't go in vain.

Meilin really liked that about him.

They helped push each other up and though there was not a hint of competitiveness between them at an unconscious level, they complimented each other with ease, it was like they had known each other for many decades, they were always in sync.

The previously cold mansion was also filled with smile and laughter.

Meilin had always been a very disciplined kid and acted like an adult, but with him around, she acted her age, it was a huge change ba.

They became really close as the days went by, so much so that, every sentence they said would have the other's name in it.

Meilin would go around calling him 'Xuanxuan, Xuanxuan' and he went around responding 'Linlin, Linlin.'

A very homely air was created by them in this cold mansion which has been as so for years now.

After a month, it was decided that he would be put in her primary school.

It was private school under the Qins for the next generation heirs and groomed them to become an epitome for others from a young age.

They both were put together in the same classroom in their primary school, they should be in 3rd year but were actually put inside the 5th year classrooms, they both felt they were too smart to stay in the lower classes and if the school permitted they wouldn't have minded skipping till middle school but Qin Mo didn't want them to be too apart from the kids their age.

From the very start, everyone had isolated Meilin.

It seems it was because of the warnings from their parents to treat her with respect plus that, she was too much of a 'genius' for them, they treated her like a senior, respected but alienated from one's own circle.

She was younger but was smarter than them, the teachers always seemed to set her as an example, so their not-so-good feelings for her came from a basic level of wary and envy of someone who was too far out of reach.

Meilin from the start hated two-faced people so she was glad to be treated as so, and more like she always had an invisible Great Wall of China surrounding her from almost everyone around her anyway.

But when it came to him, that beautiful face, big bright eyes, gentleman bearing made all the little girls lost their bearings, maybe it was their maternal instincts for the young boy, two years their junior or the person himself being unbearably attractive, no one knows.

The girls in the class all belonged the upper echelons, they were princesses on their own rights so, when they saw the out-of-a-story-book-prince charming, they all fell in love in an instant.

Back then they were not warned to not get close to him because everyone thought that, unlike Meilin, he was just an orphan taken in by Chairman Qin out of pity, he didn't have any actual power and can be discarded, anyway as such almost all the girls, experienced their puppy loves for the first time.

Xuan back then, always had a polite facade and treated everyone equally, it was like there was an invisible glass between everything around him and he just acted like a spectator, never involved in their feelings, he may be standing next to you but was way out of your reach without you knowing it.

Maybe it was his years in that room, he instinctively acted amiable to all but treated them as thin air when his actual feelings were involved, cruel but to the young boy who was treated as so, by his own mother and parents it was the sad truth too!!

Still, the fantasy of little girls can be a scary thing, they didn't lose hope, just getting a smile was everything to them back then, and they started calling him Prince Xuan.

Xuan reaction to it was his usual gentle smile.

When Meilin saw him like this, she was a bit conflicted.

She had never liked people who put on a fake front but when he did the same, she felt like it was very normal.

She was allowed to act cold being the natural heiress of the largest empire in the country and the one who was destined to stand at the top and would still be respected even if it was just a front but he can't act like that because he wasn't given a title yet, it made her want to put the world under his foot but for that she would have to wait for some years and work much harder.

She also knew that his facade was only for the people who he deemed 'not needed' in his life and treated them like so, but she didn't feel that it was cruel and genuinely she actually felt happy that only she knew the real Xuanxuan, the one she knew was actually a fun-loving boy who was whiny at times and became needy at others.

Even though she was supposed to be a 'meimei' she became a 'jiejie' but she wasn't complaining ma. Spoiling and being spoiled by the person you love and care for the most, felt really fulfilling!!

So, she pushed that conflicting feeling to the farthest distance in the universe.

Anyway, at school they acted like they were not too close, nor too distant which added an extra layer to the rumors that he was not treated as a child of the Qin, by the heiress adding an extra layer of sympathy and sense of bonding between the classmates and as for Meilin, she ignored everything.

Kids should be genuine but when you have lived in a world where everyone is expecting profits from you, you will also become indifferent to the ongoings and treat them the same.

It was sad but true.

Being born to royalty is not all fairy tale.

The life there in a way can be more suffering for the young ones than that in slums.

She sat there with him by her side, during classes they would concentrate on studying, during breaks she would study some more as she kept a side-eye on him being surrounded by people, girls to be exact, during PE, boys would surround him calling him 'xiao-di', she genuinely felt like that was the world he should always stay at. Even at her age, she knew he belonged to a world where he should be appreciated and respected, he probably didn't have it as a child but she decided that he will give it to him...give him her everything on the future and so...their days passed by.
