Theres quite frankly quite a lot of stuff to break down in this fight, but I think its very important to note that Henson-san seems to have frozen very briefly on several occasions. I certainly am not going to give my potential competition any hints on where, but its most notable early in the fight, and he does it a lot less later on.

The instant Ninetales comes out, that immediately changes. Im almost certain that some telepathy was involved, but I cant really say for sure. All I have to go on are my own experiences with my team, after all.

@LoPwny99 I see you have not had the honor of facing any competently trained and motivated non-evolved Pokemon. Respect those that choose not to evolve, they tend to have a reason for it. Perhaps another thread could educate you on the subject. Ketchums certainly would.

Me and Smeargle were on Mt. Chimney doing a landscape a few days ago when we saw that flamethrower clear the sky of clouds. I thought that was Moores Typhlosion seeing how far it could push its flames, it seems that Henson was practicing for his match, insane.

@Waffles We here at the Lavaridge Ranger Station would like to wish Mr. Henson well on his journey through the rest of the Hoenn league this season. Where he and his lovely walking natural disaster fox can be someone elses problem. Unrelated PSA: Just because Mt. Chimney is a volcano does not mean its alright to melt the landscape.Updated from novelbIn.(c)om

Holy shit, if his Grovyle, thats weak against a fire type could tank a flamethrower and come out the winner, I cant wait to see what his Shinx could do when they get to the water gym. I just love to see some good ole fish frying. He had that pokemon for a while didnt he? At least longer than that Octillery if we go by how his info got updated. My electric team would love some tips from him once we see how he blasts. And the whole shinx line is just the best man.

@Sakatsuki I know right! Were Ketchum still in Kanto I would have loved to throw down against a Pikachu that powerful.

@FryThoseWater Shinx seems pretty young, going by what we know of it. Likely something he just hatched recently. I know there are some Pokemon species that are willing to throw down while only a few days old, but Shinx isnt one of them. Especially not at the Elite level.

@PoisonedFaith I still know that much at least, but they still got a good while to go before the end of the gym circuit. Although Lee and his group does seem to be pushing pretty fast so maybe itll be too soon. I guess the flying gym is another good spot to showcase that baby shinx. I just want more shinx love, that Ninetales is great and all, but they are way too rare for me to even daydream about.

So, having looked at a lot of the trainers for this year Im staying in the forest, Im not even letting my Volcarona be within 20 miles of the gyms this year. I swear I saw some dude with some Metagross in a gym that wasnt Steven Stone, a Ninetales that contests with hyper beams, a PIKACHU THAT ONE SHOT WATTSON, and some dude using a conductors wand to direct his team. This year is a horror show of talent.

Well, clearly I need to have a serious sit down and rethink how I am approaching my career as a trainer if someone with no credentials or history can do this after only a few months. While I have no doubt a lot of that is talent from the trainer and both talent and breeding for the mons, clearly Hensen is doing something else that I have overlooked. First things first, get a monster of a pokemon. Second, evolve them. Third, ??? Fourth, profit! Or fame and a good league showing, same thing really.

That said, which way to the betting threads? I got a cool couple hundred to drop on Hensen getting at least top four.

Edit: YES! Finally verified status! And now I am sad that I am/was excited about that.

Several people on previous pages mentioned Ninetales had intense flamethrower in the skies near Lavaridge. Was that the reason for the Weather Institute suddenly changing the forecast for the east coast a few days ago? They mentioned it was due to Pokmon in that region but I had assumed it was a pack of Torkoal in the Valley of Steel or something. My Bellosum was pleasantly surprised by the sunshine instead of light overcast. Surely I'm overthinking it?

I bet! After witnessing how that flamethrower can overcome a freaking Hyper Beam, weather changing doesn't sound that unbelievable to me. Though my Gastrodon is a little sad that it hasn't rained these few days.

Look, that Meowth talking was obviously faked. Probably has a speaker of some kind hidden on him for his real trainer to speak through.

I don't understand why people treat Henson as the second-coming of Arceus. His Pokmon is strong but his battling sucks. Like, use your Corvisquire instead of your Grovyle. Yes type isn't everything, but it's not like Corvisquire is weak, and that Grovyle is the weakest link in the party. Particularly when Mura Moore famously loves his Fire Terrain move which doesn't matter for flying types. Later, he didn't use the opportunity he gained with Gunk Shot to do anything, Henson just stood there and let Arcanine recover. And with Ninetales, his only verbal order was to strike back with Flamethrower against a HYPER BEAM, which has to be one of the stupidest commands ever. Light Screen, Detect, or even just dodging would have done it. Instead, he bet against a literal war machine and only won because he has a Ninetales.

Compare that to Birch, who actually uses more than 2 brain cells when he battles, or that random new dude who uses a conductor's baton. Heck, he almost won with his wimpy Pokmon. Or, like any gym leader or any one of the Elite 4. I just hate that he overshadows the actual battler talent.

@DarkSpike69 Ayo Mister Emo, that sounds like a YOU problem. Speaking like you are some big shot, but do you have the ball to back it up? We can clearly see that Ty is a freaking monster and I doubt you can follow all of your strategy so well when facing that Hyper Beam. Honestly, show the man some respect!

So I was looking at some of the ranger maps of the valley of steel, and apparently among the acid pools and metal contaminated pools there are some pools of water in the area that are clean enough to actually be liveable. Maybe Lee got his Octillery at one of those? Hard to say because those maps tend to be more out of date than normal due to the lack of trainers strong enough to regularly cover the place. But hopefully this is the case and not because some asshole decided to release a water type into an acid pool. Still have nightmares about that time I responded to reports about this idiot releasing his Horsea into a mudpot over at Cinnabar.
