Chapter 111 - Elise (3)

"Now, how did you know that it was me?" Harrison asked her. A serious expression plastered on his face, he looked determined to know how did she knew about it. That made him more curious about her identity and who she really was, she became more mysterious as ever and he wants to know more about her, not in a romantic way. It's like when you find someone rather interesting and mysterious or when you are a detective trying to solve a case and you are determined to know more clues that will lead you to the answer or to the criminal.

Alexandra told her before that Elise smiled at her and it somehow looked unusual as if she was hiding something. Her smile had this mysterious vibe that pulled Alexandra to know more about her, she wants to ask her who she really is, her abilities and what can she do. It feels like there would always be danger lurking around when you get close to Elise, even though she looked innocent and gentle. How terrifying.

Elise hummed before a smile spread across her lips and she took off the ring her middle finger in her right hand was wearing and showed it to him. The confusion was written all over his face as he stared at the ring and it took him moments to realize what it was, his eyes widened for a moment because of shock before it turned into a more serious expression. "I was wearing a charm," Elise said while smiling at him. A charm is a magic item that is used so that some barriers or spells which were cast by another person will not work on you. There is a specific class for each charm, some class can only block Tier 1-3 spells or barrier, which is the lowest class and some can block Tier 7 spells or barriers and it is the highest class. But as far as he knows, those charms with high class are rare to find and hard to make especially the ones that can block dark magic, those are extremely rare ones.

When she saw them at the café, she thought about how Carlos and Jerich reacted seeing him thereafter declining their offer of going to that café with them. Aside from that, she was also with a little girl, a few years younger than him. Probably 2 or 3 years. She thought that they will also be shocked and would somehow get angry at him but they didn't, they ignored him and acted like he was a completely different person during that time. But a step before they completely passed by Harrison and the little girl he was with, that was where they reacted but it was different from what she expected. They acted like they never saw that person before and he had a slight resemblance with their friend which was Harrison, she wants to say that it was Harrison but then she didn't as she realized what was happening.

Harrison and the little girl were using some sort of spell or illusion in which their appearance is completely different from other's eyes. Just to make sure of that, she took off her ring and looked at them then saw two different people. That somehow gave her the confirmation. So when she saw the little girl at the carnival alone, she got excited and started to say some things to her which were pretty unusual and somehow, trespassing her privacy, that made the little girl feel uncomfortable and awkward.

Aside from that, Elise felt something from that little girl. Instead of danger lurking round and hiding in the shadows like an enemy spy about to infiltrate their base, she was the danger itself. That was Elise's instincts and guts telling her.

The spell that he used wherein his and Alexandra's appearance is different in other's and each other's eyes is a Tier 5 spell. That means, that charm's class should be high. Where did she get that charm? They don't have that kind of charms in the market nor by those merchants or traders. If ever she bought one, that would be really expensive. "This charm was given to me by someone I know, I don't want to tell you who it is as that person told me not to do so," Elise said as if she read what was inside his mind and what was bothering him. He narrowed her eyes down at her, "Were you wearing that charm during the celebration of the Winter Star, at the party?" He asked.

Because if she was wearing that during that time, that would answer all of his questions. It can probably block dark spells since the spell that he used on her while they were dancing at the dance floor. Unexpectedly, Elise shook her head as a response, "No, why? Did you see me wearing it during that time? That was probably a similar ring from this since I was also wearing a ring that time that looked similar to this," Elise said while showing him another ring that looked like the charm which she hid inside the pocket of her skirt for a moment before she places it back inside and wore the ring (the charm one) on her finger once again so that she would not drop it and accidentally make it dirty.

Then his expression became more serious than ever. That was the first time that she saw him make that serious expression since he would always have this bored look on his face or just a blank one. So when she saw the confused and shocked expression he made when he heard her question, it also shocked her and she was intrigued. She never thought that he can make that expression nor she never expected that he will make that expression. She was intrigued by that, it piqued her curiosity and interest. She wants to see more of it, his expressions and such.

Harrison nodded before he spoke once again, "I answered your question. What do you want from me? It seems like you are going to ask me or make me do something. I won't be your slave or assistant," Harrison said in a serious expression, his voice sounded dead-pan. Elsie doesn't know if he was joking or being serious. As expected from him, sharp as always when it comes to this kind of situation, she thought to herself before she spoke and answered his question. "I want to ask you something and I also have a request for you. Don't worry, I won't make you my slave or assistant," Elise said in a gentle tone of voice, she sounded so relaxed and calm. She totally looked and acted differently from when she was dancing with him if you compared it with how she is acting right now. Back then, she was more gentle and shy but now, she was brave and determined. "What is it?" Harrison responded.

"Who is the girl you were with? You didn't answer that question although that was the first thing I asked you and second, what is her relationship with you?" Elise said, her voice laced with determination yet a gentle expression plastered on her face as she spoke. Harrison remained silent and just stared at her, making it looked like he doesn't want to answer that question. Elise stared back at him and slightly tilted her head to the side waiting for his response. Silence surrounded them for a while and Elise looked like she wouldn't change her question unless he would answer it. Harrison let out a sigh before he combed his hair with the use of his hands while looking at her, an annoyed look plastered on his face.

"That was my little sister," Harrison said hoping that she would accept that reason.

"You don't have a little sister. Your real appearance, as well as hers, were completely different from one another," Elise responded remembering what Luke told her before about Harrison when she asked if he has a sister or something. His forehead creased and he narrowed his eyes down at her once again, "Who told you that?" He asked, looking like he was ticked off and wants to return to the classroom to rest and have some peaceful time alone. "Your two friends, Luke and Jerich. They have allowed me to call them by their first names without using any formalities since we were friends too already," Elise said, she looked happy while she was talking about it. The expression on her face grew brighter and brighter as seconds passed by while she spoke.

Right, I forgot that she doesn't have that many friends, he thought to himself. How sad but still those idiots, he has to think of another reason now but if he did, that would not be accepted anymore unless if Elise was dumb but sadly, she isn't. She was one of the smartest kids in the class, Harrison being the 3rd one yet he was lazy and unmotivated to study but he got 3rd place out of more than 40 students in their class. "That was my neighbor's kid," Harrison said in a dead-pan voice just like the tone of voice he used earlier while he was talking. "Oh please, you told me that she was your little sister, now she was your neighbor's kid. Don't lie to me," Elise said and let out a light giggle as if Harrison just said some sort of joke yet he remained expressionless as always.

Ah, this is annoying. I don't even know what to say to her. Should I tell her about Alexandra? No, that wouldn't be a good idea, what should I do? He started to attack his mind with questions as he thought about what to say in this situation. How can he escape this?
