190 Dream of Life

In the gigantic illusionary realm kingdom, the cultivators and residents of Lunan City who were pulled into it were experiencing a life of reality superimposed with illusion.

“Save… save me! I don’t want to die yet!”

“No… don’t! My beloved, my son, my parents… they are all dead! What’s the point of living?”

“Hoho! Hahaha… that’s right! I was responsible for all this. All of you must die! You must die!”

In the midst of the illusionary realm, some people experienced the most primordial human fear: death! Some people in the environment experienced the pain of losing a loved one, a child or a parent. Others completely released their repressed nature in that environment, turning into a blood-drenched evil demon.

Each person experienced a different illusionary realm so to speak. They experienced another part of their life in the environment, and eventually went to their deaths.

At this moment, a mass of flesh was writhing in the illusionary realm.

Slowly, it converged into a human form. It was totally naked, with long disheveled hair. It stood up and scanned the surroundings with its eyes blankly.

“I… am not dead. I’m still alive?” The man murmured. Looking at that barren town under the yellow-sand covered sky, his face took on a look of reminiscence.

Gradually, he morphed from a middle-aged man into a youth, with a childish look on his face. Then he gradually turned into a teenager, and finally became a child who was fighting with other children. He ended up badly beaten with a bruised and swollen face.

“I will live well to prove myself to you guys!” The child crawling on the ground gritted his teeth, his childish eyes exuding anger and hostility.

“Yo, that’s our hero Du. Look at that defiant look, as if he wants to break the chains of fate.”

“I simply loved this kind. The image of the villain who gives encouragement to the future great hero. Beat him up! Give him a severe beating!”

An older teenager yelled noisily, commanding a few minions to viciously beat up the child. Before long, the child’s breath became weaker and weaker. Just as he was on the verge of death, an elderly man shouted at them to stop.

This older teenager looked at the elderly man with some fear, and then he led his gang and left.

“Clan Elder.” The child called out weakly and passed out.

The clan elder shook his head, his eyes looking quite guilty. The ancestors of the Du family used to be well-off, but this all went down the drain completely with the coming of the apocalypse and the Spiritual Energy Renaissance. All the past orders were overturned and their family declined totally.

Eventually, they could only return to this town. And the first-born son of that family was also reduced to a weakling bullied by street gangs.

Shortly after, the child woke up. A few days later, the news of military recruitment for the military zone reached the town.

“I want to serve my country. I want to make battle contributions and make my family illustrious again.” Looking at the recruitment information on the wall, the boy clenched his little fists with anticipation in his little eyes.

So with a reluctant farewell to his parents and clansmen, the child entered the military zone. However, when he underwent testing of his talent, he was dealt a heavy blow.

His talent belonged to the exceptionally poor category. No matter how much he cultivated, he could never break through the Martial Arts Warrior Grade 1 for the rest of his life.

When he was rejected by the military zone, the child begged to stay, but the officer of the military zone told him sternly that the military zone was fighting the Fearsome Beasts on the front line. The slightest mistake could cause them to lose their lives, so they would never accept someone like him who could become a liability to them.

Full of reluctance, the child was especially apprehensive when he thought about how he was going to face his parents and the clansmen when he returned.

However, this apprehension did not materialize and was replaced by despair and grief!

Back in the town, the child found out that his family, including his parents and every member of his clan, had been killed. The stench of blood permeated the entire residential ground.

It turned out that after the child left, his family had accidentally offended a large local clan and the other party was waiting for an opportunity to retaliate.

“Hoho… and there’s still you, little bastard. Since you’re back, then stay and reunite with your parents!”

A man holding a blood-stained big sword, stomped the child to the ground with one foot. He then swung the big sword to slash down viciously on his neck.

“No! None of this is true! I’m going to kill you. I’ll kill you!”

The child who was pinned to the ground, roared like an enraged beast. His eyes instantly turned bloodshot, and somehow, an overbearing aura inexplicably erupted from his body suddenly.

Under the man’s stunned gaze, the aura of a Fearsome Beast began to emanate from his body, which then killed his tormentor.

The child scanned the ground full of the corpses of his people, his eyes full of grief. After a long while, his chest, which was heaving with anger and violent panting, gradually calmed down.

And then, he fell into deep contemplation. “Hoho! Looks like this is getting more and more interesting.”

He clearly remembered that although his clansmen died, he was not expelled from the military zone, but was adopted by a veteran soldier as a god-son. With his own efforts and opportunities, he became a battalion captain.

“My name is Du Feng, and I’m not dead yet!” The child’s height suddenly shot up and he became a middle-aged man. His face gradually turned grim. “This illusionary realm is still incredibly realistic. It is actually able to peek into my inner mind and create an illusionary realm targeted at me. I almost fell into its trap.”

“This SS-class Hundred-Eyed Purple Dragon seems to have completely broken free from my control and has developed some sort of mutation. It is able to absorb the fearful emotions of the human mind to boost its own strength.”

And previously, when he was killed by the woman in white, he was able to come back to life because he didn’t really die.

In the instant before being killed, he was dragged into the illusionary realm, and the person that the killing strike from the woman in white landed on was just a mirror image.

“However, a slave is still a slave after all. Even if you are free from my control, I still know you like the back of my hand.”

Du Feng said with a scornful laugh, “Your illusionary realm has very little effect on me.”

Just then, the space in front of Du Feng’s eyes cracked open and a pair of purple eyes appeared. They rotated grotesquely while staring at him, and then a figure, identical to Du Feng, manifested itself.

“Hmph! It seems that you are getting more and more brazen.” Du Feng said in an icy tone. In the next second, black tentacles grew out of his body, which were identical to those on the Thousand Tentacles Demonic Beast, and wrapped around the other Du Feng.

The other Du Feng laughed scornfully. Its pair of eyes instantly turned purple, and with a shake of its body, all the tentacles broke off. Its right hand reached behind itself and a purple curved sword emerged in its grip. It then hacked onto the body of the original owner.

Instantly, one of Du Feng’s arms was hacked off. As his flesh and blood squirmed, a blob of slime emerged and a brand new arm grew out.

Du Feng said with a sneer, “I have the ability to regenerate my limbs. You can’t kill me in this way at all. As your former master, let me tell you. Whatever you have, I have them too!”

As the words trailed off, a ray of purple light burst out. Du Feng’s eyes also turned purple, revealing a demonic power.

A purple curved sword also appeared in his hand, bursting out with a sharp and fierce sword energy. He went slashing towards the other Du Feng’s body.
