Chapter 101 - Morning talk

That night I had a restless sleep and woke up with a jolt. I was surprised that my mates didn't stir. I rose up on one elbow trying to catch my breath. Shreds of my dreams came back to me. A malevolent figure looming over me as I dash away in an endless dark road. I climbed out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. I caught a glimpse of my bags under my eyes in the mirror-door. My bladder was about to burst. After flushing, I rinsed my hand and wiped it dry on the towel by the door.

-Liliane?

I went back to the room and found Demos sitting in bed. He had creases on his forehead as he looked up in my direction. It was early, a dim light came from the curtainless door. He was only wearing his new pajama's bottom.

"It's ok, I had to use the bathroom," he nodded at me. "I think I'll get some water," I tried to swallow that remaining fear from my dream. I've must have screamed a lot cause my throat was dry and itchy.

-Want me to grab you a glass of water?

He pushed the covers away but I waved him away. He paused and stared at me. He must be concerned about what happened yesterday. I did everything to avoid talking about it. Ate quickly, took a shower and went directly to sleep. I was scared to think about what happened in that cafeteria.

"I'll be right back," I said and made my way to the door leading to the main room. The slow sunrise gave enough light but kept the corners in shadows. As I yanked on the knob, the living room appeared half in the gloom. A silhouette cut from black square of the bar against the faint light next to the fridge. My body went cold, breathing rushing in my throat.

"Ah!" I let out a sudden scream. Demos was behind me in seconds.

"Lights!" he shouted. And there, sitting on that precarious long-legged chair, with long perfect legs crossed under an ultra-short dress, Olga. Her lips was twisted in an inverted smile. I sighed with my hand over my racing heart.

"Y-you nearly gave me a heart attack," Grant rushed to the door with his hair all messed up. He was wearing an identical pair of pajamas bottom as Demos.

"What's going on?" he said in an empty tone. He peeked over our shoulder towards our new guest.

"How did you get in?" he frowned at her. Her uncrossed her legs then crossed then the other way. Damn, I swear I saw stuff I didn't want to see. I looked my eyes to my barefoot. Jil materialized over the counter, she yanked and stretched like a cat then was startled by our presence.

"It's not time to wake up yet," she turned to face us. Grant glared at her.

"You let her in, without informing me?" he shook an accusing index at the little pixie figure. She lowered her head and hugged herself.

"I didn't give her any choice," answered Olga from the bar. "I redesigned her to obey me," she climbed down her perched and pulled the hem of her dress. "I had an emergency, that's why I'm here. If it wasn't important I couldn't be here trespassing," I felt the tension in my mates left, replaced by another type of anguish. I crossed to the space separating us from her. I desperately needed my glass of water, now more than before. They followed behind me.

"Speak," said Grant with a sour edge. Olga only stared at her with a grin.

"You know, I was the one who actually designed you. Don't take all the bullshit Church told you as the truth. But then, I guess you make your kids but not their heart. I must have been crazy thinking that I could create something that could give the love I was lacking," she lowered her gaze. Sadness in plain sight over her face. Her head sprung up and a forced smile pinned on her lips. "I creator hates me," both Demos and Grant crossed their arms over their chest in an identical movement. They were not fooled by her heart pouring moment.

"What's so important you had to barge in our house in the middle of the night?" Demos spat without reserve. Olga let out a deep breath and her face went blank again. All emotions tugged in.

"I was able to access a backdoor," she answered in a flat tone.

"Are you safe to discuss that here?" Grant looked around then back at her. I was holding my empty glass ready to open the tap and I did the same. Paranoia seemed to be a good habit around here. Olga nodded at us.

"I've added some updates to Jil while you were so innocently sleeping," her eyes were cold as ice. I shuddered at the thought that she was here while we were vulnerable. I don't think I'll ever feel safe in his house anymore. First the spy device and now this. Demos gave a quick glance then faced our guest.

"Will it be safe for us to have such sensitive information? The violent demonstration in the cafeteria was a clear warning," Olga shook her head, her hair was pulled in a tight ponytail away from her face. It made her eyes fierce and dangerous. Her red lips in a sort of permanent angry line.

"You'll like to know," she simply added.

-I think Liliane should be left out of this.

I slammed my glass on the kitchen counter in rage. They are turned towards with a puzzled look. They are not doing that again. They are not going to let me out again. They promised. No more lies.

"I'm not going away. If you have something to say, spill it. I'm also a part of this," I crossed my arms under my b.r.e.a.s.t and glared at them. I didn't know what it was all about. I didn't know how dangerous it could be...but we were a team. And we don't leave anyone behind.

-We are family

Demos nodded at me. Olga sighed and threw her arms in the arm frustrated without a little outburst.

"Ok, I saw the backdoor. I was able to cover my path when I got out. So I'm safe," she placed her hands on her h.i.p.s. The suspense was killing me. I don't get how artificial kept dragging on the conversation. Can't she freaking spit it out already?

"What did you find?" Grant spoke my frustration. At least, someone other than me was impatient to know what it was all about. Olga looked up at us with dead serious eyes. The kind that makes your soul turn cold.

"First I got access to the blueprints of the whole island. I didn't do it on purpose. while working on the water system and researching the exact plan on which to base my water system, I got the whole thing. Including the sub levels," she paused to let the information sunk in. I guessed that wasn't anything big. Well, it didn't sound that huge of a deal to me. She went on after a minute. "This island is bigger than it looks. the bas.e.m.e.nt where we work runs on 56 levels. And beneath are huge warehouses called the sub levels. It goes on for miles," I gasped. She gave me a dark look for interrupting her.

"After some digging, I stumbled on three major projects: The portal, Pegasus and sixties. I have no idea what they are since I couldn't get access to them," Grant nodded with his eyes lost in the distance. Both of my mates were thinking so rapidly that I only heard a low hum when I tried to concentrate on the link connecting us. I suddenly remembered I thirsty. I took the glass next to the sink and squeezed the tap opened. After the second drink, I felt tired. I needed to sit. I scanned the silence room, there was an empty chair next to Olga. I didn't want to that close to her. Whatever was going on, this was bigger than us...than me. Why the hell did I insist on being here? It was not like I could do anything about whatever she discovered down in the belly of the beast.

"Liliane," called Demos. I slowly lifted my head towards him unsure why he was calling. "You're tired. It's still early. You should go back to sleep. You have 2 hours before going to work. We'll go charge," that was not up for discussion. His expression was hard. It pained me to see those cold eyes directed towards me. He blinked and this face softened. He extended his hand and I took it. Mine was shaking slightly. Demos guided me to the room while Grant and Olga whispered behind us. I gave one last look at Grant's concerned face before turning to the bed.

-It's ok, we always find away.

Demos smiled at me. Yet, it had no effect. I knew something was definitely wrong. I would feel it in our connection. He was not lying but he was trying to protect me. Demos settled beside me in bed and held me close to his heart. His silent heart.

"Demos," I turned to face him. He had a gentle smile, the hard look was gone.

"Mm?"

"If I tell you I want to go... leave this place, would you...both of you came with me?" he combed his fingers into my hair with one side of this lips curling up.

"We'll follow you to the end of the world," he dropped a light kiss on my parted lips. I m.o.a.ned against him, his mouth dropped down on mine, tongue exploring. I snuggled against him, his hands found their way under my shirt, pickling as they ran up my back.

-Hey guys! I'm trying to have a serious conversation here.

Grant's voice made us paused then burst into giggles. Demos pushed me a little to gaze at my face. A mischievous light dance in his cooper eyes.

"Do you think Grant can keep a straight face if we do a little foreplay?" I slapped his chest while pretending I was shocked. I bit my lower lips in anticipation. He clearly got the message. He pulled me on top of him. So that I was seated on his hip. His hands cupped my butt and I lowered myself to reach his lips. Damn, this was good. The contact with his bare chest make my whole body lit up.

-Guys! Seriously?

Grant's voice was full of sarcasm. It was so unlike his character. I smiled against Demos' lips and we didn't stop. My body moved slowly against his. I gasped as his teeth grazed over my neck. My eyes widened as he smirked at me.

"Are you going to bite me Mr. alpha?" I pushed away with my palms flat over the curves of his muscled chest. It made his eyes flashed. Blue! Damn, his wolf side was awake. My heart raced inside my chest. The door slammed opened, Demos sprung to a sitting position with me on his lap. Grant glared at us.

"Please!" he said the word in a pleading voice. I averted my eyes with guilt, Demos gave me a big loud kiss on the cheek taking me by surprise.

"I was tugging her, but she wouldn't behave," said Demos all innocent. Grant's serious gaze rested on me. Oh, come on. You know who's fault it was. Serious Honey, just scolded me.

"Demos out! You," he pointed at me. "Go to sleep and I don't want to hear any complains," Demos eased me off him and climbed out of bed. He pulled my shirt down then tucked the covers. I waved my fingers at both of them with a smile. I felt like a naughty kid.

"Sleep," snapped Grant before closing the door behind him. I had all the trouble of the world sleeping after that. I was a little scared to go back to that dream. But in less 5 minutes I was out cold.
