Author Note: This is the first time I write a novel in my life.

When I started writing, I realized that writing a novel is difficult but a lot of fun.

I don’t have any talent at all in writing novels, but since this is something I enjoy doing, I am submitting this novel.

Thank you for choosing to read this novel from among so many others.

~Prologue~

As I carefully wiped the glass with a wiping cloth, I gazed out of the window.

Weather was cloudy and I could see people hurrying on their way home.

I muttered to myself, “I wonder if tonight will be empty,” and returned my eyes to the interior of the shop, where a customer at his table was reaching into his bag for his wallet.

This is a coffee shop in front of the station street.

It was five years ago that my father left this world.

I, Salaryman Ginjiro Yaesu didn’t want to lose the things my father cherished, so I quit my job and returned to my hometown to take over the store.

When I was a student, I helped out at the store a few times, but when it came to actually running the business on my own, things just didn’t go well.

A coffee store in a rural town where Napolitan that my father cooked was very popular.

The ingredients used were not unusual, but it is a dish that my father puts a lot of time and effort into.

Whether I should try to recreate my father’s taste or create my own taste. I can’t find the answer.

Sales were tight just from the coffee shop alone, so I started serving alcohol in the evenings.

My hobbies of making cocktails and knowledge of whiskey and wine came in handy here.

I was finally able to make a living, but recently I have been feeling a little under the weather.

Seeing the customer get up and take his wallet out of his bag, Ginjiro walked from the kitchen to the cash register.

“Thank you very much.”

As I looked out the window of the empty store, I heard a cat meowing from the back door.

A stray cat that had started coming to the store some time ago.

Even though it was a stray cat, it probably used to be a domesticated cat because it had elegant fur and was not afraid of people.

I named him Ao because he had clear eyes like the blue sky in the middle of winter.

After wiping Ao, who was wet from the rain, with a towel, I prepared a can of cat food for him.

This cat food is a luxury product made from Yaizu bonito.

I was so happy to see Ao coming to the store that I started ordering high-end cat food from online stores.

Ao is a smart cat who only comes when there are no customers.

And he loves this cat food.

As I was about to open the lid and put down the cat food as usual, I suddenly felt a pain in my chest and fell to my knees on the spot.

As I struggled to breathe, Ao, the stray cat in front of me, began to speak.

“Thanks for the tasty cat food. Unfortunately, you’ve worked too hard. You worked alone from morning till night and …… will die soon. I don’t want to lose this cat food, so why don’t you make a contract with me?”

(Did he speak?)

My chest is painfull and I have no idea what is happening.

As I was losing consciousness, Ao, who was in front of me, looked at me as if he was troubled and said.

“I can’t help you in this world. But I can help you if I take you to another world.”

(H-help……)

Then I collapsed on the spot.

In the pitch black space, Ao, a stray cat, is looking at me.

“Finally, you’ve waken up. I don’t have much time, so I’ll hurry, unfortunately you lost your life. I really shouldn’t interfere, but …… I brought you here because I didn’t want to lose that can of cat food.”

(Cat food? Dream?)

“It’s not a dream. I will send you to a different world other than Earth. You’ll live there and give me a can of cat food once in a while.”

“What kind of world is that? That cat food is only sold on the Internet.”

“I’ve given you the skills to do online shopping so that you can buy cat food in the new world. Can you open the lids of the cat food you bought there and put them in the item box? The item box is shared with me, so if I want to eat it, I can take it on my own. There is no time lapse, so I would appreciate it if you could leave a lot in the item box.”

“I understand. I’ll buy a lot of cat food and put it in.”

Maybe a cat’s hands can’t open the lids?

“Is there anything you want?”

I’m confused by sudden things, but I’m going to concentrate on the future.

The first thing Ginjiro thought about was the coffee shop.

He didn’t want to let go of the store, which was inherited from his father and filled with many precious memories.

“Can I take things that were in my store?”

“Except for things that can’t be used in the new world, I’ll put them in the item box.”

Slightly relieved, Ginjiro thinks about what he needs to do to survive.

“I collapsed from overwork. Can you help me heal my body?”

“No problem. I would rather have you live a longer second life, so I will make you a little younger.”

Ao, a stray cat, answers me while wagging his tail.

“Can you do that? Thank you.”

Ao, the stray cat, looks away for a moment.

“It’s about time. The other world hasn’t been at war for a while and is somewhat safe. I’ll drop you in a place where there are no strong monsters, so aim for the city at first. Don’t forget the cat food.”

As Ao said this, sunlight shone through the pitch-black space.
