Chapter 359 - Why did you join as my secretary?(9)

Sky elbowed him with the left hand and left the knife on the chopping board carefully, "When I have a Cook, why do I have to learn? Finish now."

Arlo chuckled and stopped her in front of the chopping board again, "I will teach you."

"Huh?" Sky was still considering when he handed her the knife and taught how to hold standing behind her.

He took her left hand and taught it from his hand, "Bend your fingers, like this."

Sky hummed.

Arlo held both of her hands and started to chop slowly. "Let's start with slow then increase the speed and move your left hand matching the right-hand speed."

Sky was still looking at how to chop and maintain speed but Arlo slowly increased the speed. He wasn't even reached the half-speed, She squeezed her eyes, started to release her hand from spring onion and knife as she shouted, "Ahhhh My fingers... My fingers... My fingers... Arlooooo."

Sky had nestled back to him while retreating. Arlo noticed that she just reached little above his chin wearing her heels. He stopped when he heard his name as a smile crept on his face.

He had an urge to wrap his hands but dropped it instantly thinking he would scare her off and released her hands. Sky elbowed him and ran aside. She checked her fingers first and patted on her chest taking deep breaths.

Even though she looked exaggerating, she looked adorably cute. "It was so scary. I'm will not learn this. Never ."

Arlo laughed as he finished chopping and moved near the gas top, "You just eat. I will cook for you."

"Huh? I already had dinner. It's only for you." Sky said and looked around in the kitchen munching her strawberries.

Arlo just smiled and didn't reply. He didn't say about that day.

Sky saw a deep oil fry section and went to Arlo. She nudged him, "Can you make french fries? or chicken popcorn?"

Arlo wanted to laugh looking at her expression. It was like a kid requesting its parents to prepare junk food.

"No! Drink soup if you are hungry. It's not good to eat at this time. I will prepare for you tomorrow." He wasn't going to give in just because she was being cute. Her health mattered more.

"Oh!" Even Jai always said no whenever Sky asked such snacks at late nights hence she didn't ask again. "Hey! Why are you coming tomorrow? I didn't even call you." Sky didn't forget the important part of his response.

Arlo's brow twitched. He didn't want her to know but anyway he already spilled it. So he can only make an excuse. "Why? Aren't you going to study?"

Sky thought for a while and asked, "Arlo?" Arlo hummed. Sky asked, "Why did you join as my secretary?"

His grip on the stirring spoon tightened. He couldn't understand how she jumps from one topic to another. Even though he liked it as they would have many topics for the talk but he didn't want those types of questions.

When he contemplating what to say, Sky continued, "I know you applied for assistant and I gave secretary position. But still Why? Why under me? Why Harley? You are talented in whatever you do. You aren't lazy either. You can grow better in the career even if you wish to stand alone. So Why?"

He wanted to say she was the reason but he had no idea how she would react. She would even throw him out of the company and refuse to see him. It would be like throwing himself under the bus. If he tries to brush off the question, she would be persistent and even doubt him.

Even though he got a few more seconds to think for giving a reason, he still didn't have a proper answer other than giving 'no job' or David as the reason.

He faced her to answer but Sky held her hand in the air to stop him, "I'm not going to buy the answer if you say you were jobless or My dad is your dad's friend."

'Don't tell me you can read mind.' Arlo thought to himself and decided to tell the truth.

"YOU!" Arlo looked at her and continued, "YOU were the reason to join and YOU are the reason that I'm still staying in Harley."

Sky had no reaction on the face. She suddenly got down from the kitchen counter with a loud noise created by her heels.

' Thud. '

She was holding the fork in the right hand and bowl in the left hand with a grim expression on the face. His heartbeats were raising like crazy.

She took steps towards him and said, "I knew it."

'I knew it' Arlo was taken aback hearing that. He stood there rooted thinking whether she would stab the fork or break the porcelain bowl on his head.

Out of his expectation, she extended her bowl towards him and said, "I want cucumber."

Arlo was blank for a second. Why will she ask cucumber? to hit? Is she asking for to eat?

Then what did she mean by she knew it?

.

Sky saw him dazed and nudged him with her finger. "Hey?"

"Huh?" Arlo came back to senses and took the bowl from her after lowering the gas, "I will cut it for you."

"Please peel the out layer." Sky said as she looked at the soup.

Arlo took a cucumber, washed, peeled and started chopping as he thought about what she knew. He was doing everything in slow motion thinking about her response.

Sky went back and sat on the counter looking at him chopping cucumber into medium-sized pieces.

While transferring the cucumber to bowl, he asked warily, "Ms.Sky! You said you knew it. What... do... you... know?"

"Dad never leaves anybody near me without any reason. Like Sam and you. You are helping me in studies, cooking lunch for me so that I don't have to eat outside and probably you will even teach me if I want to learn something else. So I knew it you are here to help me out."

Sky finished and took a bowl that was filled up and started eating nonchalantly.

Arlo didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He said it so straightforwardly and she still assumed her own view.

'What to call her? Innocent or dumb.'

He sighed inwardly and went back near the cooktop to check on soup and asked, "So why did your Dad let Sam near you?"

Sky heard him and waited till she cleared her mouth from cucumber to talk, "One is to keep me safe. Another one is he will have an answer for my every stupid and nonstupid questions just like Brother Jai. The important one is a little complicated one..."
