Volume 2 - CH 17

Almark was a little surprised by Torque's unexpected smile, but quickly walked over to Eldo, who was lying on the ground.

" He is not injured ?"

'No, he doesn't appear to be  injured ."

Torque has already lost all interest in Eldo after checking that he is alive.

Almark checked if Eldo was not bleeding and called into his ear.

"Eldo, pull yourself together."

But Eldo only moaned low and did not wake up .

Almark patiently kept calling out to Eldo.

Eldo's lack of response brought back Torque, who had been staring at Jalanon's corpse with a sullen look on his face.

"He ain't waking up, is he?"

'He's supposed to just be unconscious. ......"

Almark twisted his head.

"Is that monster carrying some kind of poison?"

Almark shook his head at Torque's words.

"I don't think it has any."

"Then why hasn't he woken up?"

"I don't know."

At that moment, a gust of wind blew through the forest.

"Teacher !"

Almark shouted. With the wind, Yilmaz appeared, carrying a wand .

"Almark, Torque . Are you two injured ?"

Yilmaz said with a grim look on his face.

"We' re fine ......, but Eldo is."

"What?"

Yilmaz quickly took Eldo in his arms .

He quickly checked Eldo for any external injuries and slipped his right hand, covered in a white light, along Eldo's body. After that, his expression finally relaxed.

"The boy will be fine. He's just exhausted his magic power."

"Magic power."

The unexpected words made Almark and Torque look at each other.

'The first year girl who ran into the school building,...... Cicily , was it ? She told me. When the monster suddenly appeared in the before them , Eldo covered the whole area with fog and told her to get away as fast as she could.

......" Is it so?"

Almark looked again at Eldo's face, which did not moved , and remembered his words form earlier .

"I think I'm going to be able to wrap the whole area in fog soon."

He had thought it was a common first-year student's boast. But it was no lie. Eldo had used up all his magical power and risked his life to protect Cicily. He one of the geniuses who had been recognized for his talent.

This guy's a genius."

Torque spoke on behalf of Almark's feelings.

“He's not a bad guy,"

"I guess so."

Almark nodded honestly. He knew he had the means to win. He had the skill and knowledge. That's why he could move quickly. But if he had been in the same position as Eldo, would he have ......? Would he have been able to do it? Would he have made the best possible choice to save his classmate's life, even without considering the risk to his own life?

He acted like he was caring for her."

Torque looked at Almark and chuckled.

She is lucky to have such a fine one year student taking care of her.

Almark nodded calmly.

It seems I still have a lot to learn from him . I'll let him lecture over me for a while longer."

”Ha," Torque laughed. It sounded like a sneer, but It didn't have any anger.

Teacher , who had been inspecting Jalanon's corpse, looked back at them ,

'"It was your doings ?'"

"...... yes.'

'"Mostly Almark's, sir."

'I see.'

Yilmaz stood up.

'I didn't expect that. You two have done well."

"I didn't realize there were so many monsters in this forest."

Yilmaz nodded at this words.

“ The first time I went to the forest , I saw a lot of monsters . I didn't know that they would come down to such a shallow area.”

He continued with a stern face.

"We will soon be conducting a expedition group to search in deep of the forest, and in addition to that, we will be exterminating dangerous monster nests."

“Sir, please let me join you."

Torque said, but Yilmaz shook his head.

“The group will be made up mainly of teachers and upper middle students. It's too early for elementary students."

As Torque's face twisted in frustration, the wind blew through again, and the following group of teachers came in hurry .

"Torque, Almark!"

Teacher Fear had arrived as well.

"I was so worried. Are you two hurt?"

She let out a sigh of relief when she heard their reply, "We're fine."

"Everyone else is worried too. Let's go back."

"...... yes.'

Almark watched as Eldo was given a medicinal help , and then slowly made his way back to dorm . Torque walked silently behind him.

Suddenly, Torque stepped forward.

"Now you will be walking behind me."

"Why?"

"You've been running in front of me the whole time."

Almark twisted his head and answered with a smile,

"I understand."
