I walked downtown in front of the station. It was 10 PM, and normally, it wasn’t a good time for high school students to be frolicking around… I’m used to it, though.

After visiting an acquaintance who lived in an apartment across the station, I was on my way home. My steps were heavy and tired.

I knew they left a mess, but I wish they did something about it…

Images of that devastated room played in my mind. Garbage was strewn on the floor, clothes scattered across the room. How could they accumulate all that in just one day? Oh, and there was a huge pile of dishes in the sink as an icing on the cake.

My reason for going there was just to report my admission into high school, but I was still coming back home late after taking care of that room. When will I be able to come back home without a hitch?

One of the reasons I rarely went back home is because I had to take care of my roommate. We were living together, at least kind of.

They didn’t ask me to do it, but it’d break my heart to see someone I owe so much to just die on a random pile of trash. If it weren’t that roomie, I would’ve gone astray to somewhere far away by now… I want to repay him.

… Today was especially horrible.

Going back an hour and a bit before now—

“Oh, Tatsumi, you’re back.”

“Guh?! What’s this smell? What’s this smell?!”

“What? Oh, the curry.”

“How can a curry be blue?! What the hell did you put in there?!”

“No, I was just making some green curry, but when I noticed it…”

“You noticed, huh.”

“Ahaha! Well, it’s fine either way! Green and blue are basically the same color after all!”

“Haaaah…”

… Well, this is how it usually goes. Honestly I can barely keep up.

By the way, the curry taste abhorrent, as it looked, but my roommate ate it up while exclaiming “This is green curry!” What kinda taste buds do you have?!

Several times I suggested they learn to do the housework, but each time the reply was that they weren’t the right person for the job. That was absolutely right, but if they don’t learn to stand on their own two feet, nothing will change… We have to do something about it.

… Well, I think it’s okay for a little longer.

I guess I’m a bit naive to think so, but it’s also true that I like this dynamic between us.

Just a bit more…

I’m willing to stay here until my relationship with my mom and my sister settles down a bit more.

As I was thinking about my rough and messy roommate, I saw a group of people wearing the same uniforms as our school at the end of the street where I was walking home through. Some adults who looked like teachers were also with them.

Is that…

Among them was a familiar face, Sakurai.

She noticed me and muttered, “Ah, Takkun…”
