"Sisters-in-laws, I still don't know your names!" Qiao Mei said.

"My name is Liu Yun. This is Zhang Cai and that is Wang Nuo. You already know the name of the one squatting there. Her name is Song Zhi," Liu Yun replied impatiently.

Just as Qiao Mei was still trying to match the names to the faces, the oldest Liu Yun looked at Song Zhi, who was still harvesting the vegetables, and said impatiently, "Hey! Can you hurry up! We're all waiting for you! Otherwise we won't be able to make it home in time to cook!"

"Yes!" Song Zhi quickly replied.

Both Qiao Mei and Xia Zhe frowned slightly. Xia Zhe had never asked about the other military men's families and had always been completely uninterested in such matters. He did not expect that there were such complicated relationships between the women. He wondered if Qiao Mei would be bullied by them if he left her here alone in the future.

"These crops turned out really well," Qiao Mei could not help saying wistfully.

Qiao Mei did not look like a villager at all. No one would suspect anything if she said she was from the city. She certainly did not look as if she came from the countryside.

However, nobody in the right mind would lie about this. They had only heard of villagers who claimed to be from the city. Why would anyone claim to be from the countryside?

The three women suddenly found Qiao Mei much more pleasing to the eye. After Song Zhi finished harvesting the vegetables, she quickly picked up the basket and followed the other three women as they headed home. When she passed by Qiao Mei, she dropped an eggplant and Qiao Mei helped her pick it up. She gave Qiao Mei a gentle smile in return.

"Why don't we stay in an apartment instead? I'm concerned that you won't be able to get along with them," Xia Zhe said worriedly as he watched the four women leave.

"Aren't there even more people in the apartment building? Don't worry, I definitely won't let them bully me! You just need to work hard at your job!" Qiao Mei said confidently.

For the next few days, Qiao Mei was busy with the renovations. Xia Zhe still had a long vacation break, so the two of them redecorated both the interior and exterior of the house. They even rebuilt the brick bed inside the house. For the children's safety, Qiao Mei even put up a playpen.

Xia Zhe had his own tent at the actual army camp. Qiao Mei decided to make do and bunk in with him for the time being. Their days were quite fulfilling and blissful, and it was as if they had returned to the time when they first got acquainted with each other.

The furniture which Qiao Mei asked Xia He to buy were transported over after a while. Many of the things that were brought down from the truck were old items from Qiao Mei's storeroom, such as bookshelves, desks, coffee tables and so on. There were also a few beautiful but worthless vases. Xia He had packed them all for her.

The four women took note of all these. Their conversation during mealtimes mainly revolved around Qiao Mei.

"Did you see! What are all those things that the newcomer moved into the house? Are those things even useful? It's as expected of someone from the city, so particular and picky! She still wants to read books in such a poor and remote place!" Liu Yun said disdainfully.

"If she's not particular and picky, how did she manage to seduce her husband! Look at what she wears every day. She only wears dresses and each one is so short. She exposes her calves all the time! It's so unbecoming! Look at her full bosom! She doesn't even wrap her chest!" Zhang Cai said softly.

"Isn't that so true! I even saw her interacting with another man that day!" Wang Nuo said.

Song Zhi listened quietly beside them and did not say anything. She felt that Qiao Mei was a good person, at least better than the women here since Qiao Mei did not try to bully her.

"Song Zhi, why are you in a daze! Didn't you hear what we said just now! Why didn't you say anything!" Liu Yun questioned.

"I'm stupid and don't know these things," Song Zhi said with a goofy smile.

"You're just too young! You still can't see the true colors of such women! Don't get too close to her! What if she leads you astray!" Liu Yun said.
