Chapter 1298 Silver Lock



"Of course! I trust you the most! And Elder Brother Xia! You have gone through life and death situations with my husband! You were the best brothers in the past! You can't just watch us suffer from such injustice!" Pu Tao said.

Xia Zhe only smiled and nodded. He did not express any opinion as he left everything at home to Qiao Mei. He would only speak up if there was anything that Qiao Mei had missed out on.

Huang Xu looked a little awkward, but he still chose to keep quiet. Chi Ze and Mao Hang, who were standing at the side, were barely able to stand it anymore. Pu Tao's actions would end up shattering their friendship.

They always thought that Huang Xu had his own reason for enduring Pu Tao's bad behavior for so many years. In fact, Huang Xu was leading such an unhappy life only because he let her get away with such behavior. Pu Tao only behaved so arrogantly because she knew that Huang Xu would not hold it against her no matter what she did.

Qiao Mei whispered into Xia Zhe's ear and told him the location where Pu Tao had hidden the things. Xia Zhe immediately understood what she meant and rushed into the room to search for them. Soon, he found the box.

"Oh, it's quite heavy," Xia Zhe could not help but sigh as he walked out.

When Pu Tao saw what Xia Zhe was holding, her expression changed drastically. She quickly ran towards Xia Zhe and wanted to snatch the box from him. Xia Zhe dodged her easily and handed the box to Qiao Mei before standing in front of Qiao Mei to protect her.

When Qiao Mei opened the box, everyone was shocked. Aside from things which belonged to Sun Juan and Zhou Shuang, there were also things that belonged to Yang Mei and Wang Fang!

Among all the items, the most eye-catching one was an old silver lock . Chi Ze recognized it at one glance. It was something which Wang Fang had inherited when her mother passed away. Wang Fang had always kept it in the cabinet and did not open it easily. He did not expect it to have been stolen by Pu Tao.

Wang Fang hurriedly went to her room to take a look and realized that it was really missing. Only then could she confirm that the item in Pu Tao's box was really the inheritance from her mother.

"This ring... isn't it mine?" Qiao Mei took out a gold and jade ring from the box. She had bought it recently because she had too much time on hand.

"It's not mine! This box is not mine! You must have secretly brought it in to frame me!" Pu Tao roared.

"What an idiot..." Qiao Mei muttered softly.

"You still refuse to admit it even now! In that case, let's call the police! There's nothing left for us to talk about!" Sun Juan said.

At this moment, Huang Xu stepped out and said, "Pu Tao was just muddle-headed for a moment! Please forgive her!"

"Brother, we all know that you care about your wife, but you can't be so indiscriminate, right? If your wife is precious to you, then aren't our wives important to us? The things which Pu Tao stole are all items which are important to our families. For my family, the silver lock is a family heirloom! Even at our poorest, we have never even thought about selling it. Shouldn't you give us an explanation?" Chi Ze said to Huang Xu sternly.

Huang Xu lowered his head in shame. He no longer knew how to face his former brothers, especially Xia Zhe. It was out of kindness that Xia Zhe had asked him to come to the capital to earn money and live a better life, but he had let down Xia Zhe's good intentions.

"We'll take out all the money we have and compensate all of you. Then, we'll go back to our hometown and won't work here anymore," Huang Xu said.

No one said anything though Chi Ze seemed a little dissatisfied with the proposed solution. Qiao Mei looked at everyone and said, "Since all of you have agreed to leave this matter to me , I'll make a decision on your behalf now."
