Chapter 42: Having Tea at the Police Station, Teaching Him How to Get Out

The Western District police station.

“Who reported the incident?”

Jiang Fuyue raised her hand, “I did.”

“Why were you at the scene of the incident?”

“I was passing by after school and heard some noise, so I went to check it out.”

“So coincidental?” The young police officer held his pen and looked at her with a half-smile.

Jiang Fuyue nodded earnestly. “Yes, I didn’t expect it to be so coincidental.”

The young police officer’s lips twitched. “Do you know those two groups of people?”

“I don’t know them.”

At this point, there was nothing else to ask about Jiang Fuyue.

The young police officer turned to look at Ge Meng. “What about you? Were you also just passing by?”

Ge Meng felt that the question was not precise enough, so she added, “I was passing by with Sister Han.”

“…”

In the adjacent interrogation room, the same conversation was taking place.

“What’s your name?”

“Jiang Fuyue.”

“Why were you in that alley?”

“I felt like someone was following me after I left school, so I wanted to find a secluded place to hide.”

The female police officer raised an eyebrow and looked at her with a stern expression and a slightly lowered tone: “Do you know Zheng Yonghua, also known as ‘Hu Ben’?”

“I don’t know him.”

The questioning didn’t last too long. When Jiang Fuyue came out, Jiang Han and Ge Meng were already waiting outside in the chairs.

Seeing her, the two of them stood up unconsciously.

“Do you know each other?” The female police officer behind them asked with a smile, seeming casual, but with a scrutinizing gaze.

Jiang Fuyue nodded.

“We go to the same school,” Jiang Han added.

Not getting the information she wanted, the female police officer furrowed her brows slightly, but quickly relaxed: “Follow me.”

The three were taken to a room similar to a conference room, and a middle-aged policeman came forward to first affirm Jiang Han’s prompt action in calling the police, and gave high praise.

Jiang Han almost floated away.

It was the first time in her life she had been praised by a policeman! She silently gave herself a thumbs-up in her heart, and decided to treat this incident as a treasure to be engraved in her memory forever. When she grew old, she would take it out and tell her descendants about it.

Then the middle-aged policeman warned them to go home early after school and not to linger outside. If they encounter a situation like today’s, they must first find a place to hide and wait until it’s safe before calling the police. They absolutely can’t stand and watch the excitement like they did earlier.

Finally, the friendly police officer personally escorted the three of them out of the gate.

“Master…” the female police officer stood by the side, hesitant to speak.

“If you have something to say, just say it.”

“I have a feeling that those three girls didn’t tell the whole truth, and even if they did, they must have hidden something. Is it too hasty to let them go like this?”

“Too what? Too reckless?” The middle-aged police officer wasn’t angry, but instead smiled gently.

“You, you’ve been in the criminal investigation department for too long, and you always like to look at people from a bad perspective. Those three high school students, even if they have some ulterior motives, it can’t be that bad.”

“But…”

“The real bad guys are still inside. Let’s go, let’s see how they’re doing with the questioning.”

Inside the interrogation room.

Hu Ben sat on a single chair, his hands handcuffed behind him, but he looked calm and even politely ordered the young police officer to pour him some water to drink.

He looked like a grandfather who had returned to his own home.

“…Are you new? I haven’t seen you before,” Hu Ben looked at the young police officer and deliberately shook his handcuffs, making a clanging sound. “It’s a bit inconvenient, so I’ll have to trouble you to help me drink water later. Sorry about that.”

“Hu Ben Behave yourself!” Another police officer scolded.

“Hey? Old Wang? Weren’t you in charge of cracking down on prostitution in the North District before? When did you come to the West District? No wonder I haven’t seen you around Zhuque Street lately.”

The seasoned criminal, pretending not to have heard the scolding, replied with a teasing tone.

“Ah Hu, you’re back again?” A smiling voice suddenly came from the doorway.

It was the middle-aged police officer.

Hu Ben instinctively sat up straight and put away his joking expression, “Captain Luo…”

Captain Luo raised his chin slightly, “Little Zhou, get him a glass of water.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Old Luo, I knew it, you’re the one with a human touch.”

“Okay, what’s going on?” Captain Luo sat in front of him, not like an interrogation, but more like a casual conversation.

“What’s going on?” Hu Ben’s eyes flickered slightly.

“Why did someone like you, who roams the streets, get into trouble with those professional bodyguards? Don’t tell me you’re brothers with them and just fooling around.”

To be honest, Hu Ben did consider answering like that.

But-

“Those people are really bodyguards?”

Captain Luo slammed the table, “Now I’m asking you, not the other way around!”

“Okay, okay…” Hu Ben remembered Jiang Fu Yue’s ambiguous smile and shuddered.

“By the way, what about my brothers?”

“Still caring about them? Why didn’t you think about them when you started fighting? You’re used to getting caught, but some of them haven’t even been caught before.”

Hu Ben’s brow furrowed, “Old Luo, I…”

“Be honest, I’ll handle it according to the situation.”

“Tsk! It’s not a big deal, really…” Hu Ben ran his fingers through his hair, “I made an appointment with someone in the alley to talk about something, but the person didn’t show up. Instead, those guys in black clothes came and confronted us. They didn’t say a word and just attacked us. We couldn’t just take the beating, could we?”

Captain Luo frowned as he began to analyze the situation.

Firstly, it was true that Hu Ben and his gang were the ones guarding the alley.

Secondly, the black-clad bodyguards attacked first.

Lastly, Hu Ben fought back.

All of this was consistent with the details provided by the black-clad bodyguards.

As for the reason for their attack, it was actually quite funny…

They mistook them for someone else!

So, the two groups of people just happened to meet in the alley and just happened to get into a fight?

To be honest, Captain Luo didn’t quite believe it, but he couldn’t find any flaws.

“Alright, let them go,” he said, standing up and leaving.

Hu Ben felt a surge of joy. Jiang Fuyue didn’t deceive him – this was the first time he had managed to escape without being detained.

Suddenly, Captain Luo paused and turned around, catching Hu Ben’s look of satisfaction.

“Hu Ben.”

“Ah?” Hu Ben quickly collected himself.

“Are you happy?”

“I’m happy to be able to leave.” he replied.

Captain Luo looked deep into his eyes. “Do you know those three female students?”

“I don’t know them. Oh, by the way, make sure you release my brothers too!”

Old Wang couldn’t stand it anymore. “You don’t need to remind us, Captain Luo already released them! Please, don’t cause any more trouble in the future, you only know how to make things worse!”

Hu Ben chuckled.

“Brother Hu, over here!”

After walking out of the police station, it was already dark outside.

Hu Ben approached his subordinates who were waiting for him outside, “How are the others?”

“They all have minor injuries and nothing serious.”

Hu Ben nodded and remembered what Jiang Fuyue had told him, “Did our people follow them?”

“Don’t worry, as soon as the bodyguards came out, Little Liu followed them. He’s using his phone with navigation and has already arrived near Qingfeng Street.”

“Qingfeng Street?” Isn’t that an upscale residential area?

But after thinking about it, only wealthy people can afford to hire bodyguards. However, how could Jiang Fuyue, a high school student, get into this kind of trouble?

“Let’s go to Qingfeng Street.”

One of his subordinates rode a second-hand motorcycle, and Hu Ben climbed on. For a while, the night wind blew on their faces, making a whistling sound…
