“Is your luggage okay?”

Kaede looked around again to make sure she hadn’t forgotten anything, then smiled and said,

“Yes! I’m fine.”

Today Kaede and I were going to my parents’ house. When I called my mother, she said something about bringing a future daughter-in-law early, but she didn’t seem to have any problem with Kaede’s arrival.

This time, my mother said she would pick me up, so I took her up on her offer.

“Shall we go?”

“Y-yes….”

With that said, we both walked out the front door and my mother, who I haven’t seen in a long time, stepped out of the car and came toward us, waving her hand.

Then she looked at Kaede with a glowering stare. The way she was looking at her was like an uncle who found a cute girl and looked at her from every corner.

“What are you doing, Mom?”

“Ah, sorry, sorry! She is so cute, I just…”

“No, it’s fine…”

Kaede fidgeted shyly, her cheeks reddening.

“Speaking of which, I haven’t introduced you yet, this is my mother, Reiko.”

“Thank you for always taking care of our Ren. Has my Ren ever done anything strange to you?”

“As If!” I retorted,

“Eh~? She’s so cute, has a great figure, and her b*****s aren’t small… Are you sure you haven’t attacked her?”

“…. ….of course.”

I was a little late in replying. I remembered that time.

Guilt resurfaced as I remembered that I had touched Kaede’s b*****s with my fingertips while she was sleeping.

“I wasn’t attacked, Hayasaka-kun is quite gentlemanly.”

“Ara? Is that so”

For some reason, my mom looked a little disappointed.

“And, this is Kaede Shimizu, who is currently living with me.”

“It’s nice to meet you! Um… I’m always indebted to Hayasaka-kun.”

“Ren… I’m Hayasaka too, so it would be helpful if you called me by my name.”

Kaede was a little embarrassed when she heard this. Then she said in a small voice, “Ren…-kun.”

Reiko did not miss that. Grinning, she looked at Kaede and said, “Okay!”

“Then, let’s go. Get in the car, both of you.”

“Okay.”

I said and was about to sit in the passenger seat when my mom bonked me lightly on the head.

“You… at times like this, you sit in the back, you know?”

“Eh, ah.”

I glared at my mom, still thinking that she didn’t need to hit me.

Then Kaede tapped me on the shoulder.

“No, you can’t look at Reiko-san that way.”

“…. my bad.”

Come to think of it, Kaede’s mother had already passed away. Maybe that’s why she scolded me because I was glaring at my mom.

“Got that? You should be more grateful~”

“Thank you.”

“What a cute thank-you.”

I said, “Shut up,” and turned away and looked out the window.

It was very strange to see Kaede in my mother’s car, but somehow it felt very comfortable.

“Kaede-chan, is he like this at home too?”

“Yea, he’s even cuter at home, you know?”

“What are you talking about? I’m not cute, I’m a man, you know? People like you are called cute.”

I said this to Kaede who was calling me cute and so on.

“Naaa..that’s not true! Ren-kun is cute too!”

“No, I’m not…”

“Stop!!! You guys, it’s fine if you have a lover’s quarrel in front of me, but it’s not good to do it in public, you know?”

“Eh!? What are you talking….”

“You guys are way too sweet, you’re giving me heartburn.”

Despite saying things like, “it’s troubleing” Mom’s expression was one of delight.

(But… it’s really been a long time since I’ve come back)

After that we spent the rest of the time talking about various memories and chatting until we arrived at my parents’ house.

It was very exciting and both My mom and Kaede seemed to enjoy talking with each other, which was great.
