Hi everyone! The latest advanced chapter has caught up with the raw, and we most likely won’t be seeing any updates soon.

The author said they will update the next arc, Abyss Hole arc, which is also the final arc, after they’re done with final tax return and book-making work (which I think they meant the third volume of the light novel), and that they will update it every day once they have done writing the whole arc.

By the way, I’m preparing a new project. It has similar premise as MSM in that the mc cuts off his relationship with his childhood friend, the one who’s been abusing (or more like taking advantage of?) him, and his life turns for the better. What I find interesting is that the childhood friend is truly a b*tch and nothing goes her way after the mc dumped her – that is as far as I read at least. Please give it a read when it’s out.

[Vigo: The Truth of the Great Invasion]

• Vigo’s POV

Having managed to run back to the royal capital, I immediately rush to the laboratory built in the basement of the mansion with the two hostages without reporting to Gile.

“For you to have such an expression, did something happen, Vigo-sama? And you yourself was the one who had ordered us not to bring any locals into this laboratory, so why——”

Researchers in white lab coats make confused expression seeing me rushing in.

“From this blood, we may be able to produce the mana antibody that we have long sought for. Hurry up and analyze it.” (Vigo)

“Mana antibody!? Yes sir, we will make necessary preparations to analyze it right away!”

When the confused researchers learn that they may be able to produce mana antibody, they immediately set out to prepare for the analysis.

Danton and Philia are amazed looking at the situation.

“To think there’s such a place in the underground of the royal capital… There are many devices that I have never seen before. And they all seem to have a different system from the magical devices of the magic civilization era.” (Danton)

“Who on earth are you guys? Why are those men look very similar to Abyss Walker——gasp!? That’s…” (Philia)

At the place where the screaming Philia points at, there are lined up bodies of my compatriots that have half-turned into Abyss Walkers because they were contaminated with mana and had no way to discharge it because they had no mana antibodies.

“They are the bodies of my compatriots that have became precious source of research.” (Vigo)

“No way, are you saying that Abyss Walkers, are originally humans…?” (Danton)

I can see Danton turns pale and quivers slightly, looking at the place where Philia points at.

“That is right, those of us humans from another world who cannot adapt to mana that fill this land would end up mutating and becoming the monster you know as Abyss Walker.” (Vigo)

“Are you saying that the mass of Abyss Walkers that appeared in the Great Invasion are formerly humans?” (Philia)

“That understanding is correct. Originally, the plan was for us all to cross the dimension as normal human beings. However, my blunder caused such an unfortunate situation.” (Vigo)

Twenty years have passed since the Great Invasion.[1]

For the sake of saving my compatriots who were in danger of the world collapsing, I created a technology to move to a new land beyond our dimension, and led a reconnaissance team to see if the land was suitable for migration.

I, who at that time didn’t know the existence of mana, told them that this world, whose atmosphere and climate are similar to our original world, was the best candidate for our migration destination.

My compatriots who lived in trepidation in the collapsing world were delighted at the discovery of the migration destination and praised me as a hero, the migration plan then proceeded with great support.

Coming to this land, I cooperated with Boris, the head of the Radcliffe family, who was only a small territory lord at that time.

Things were proceeding well, by giving him financial support, I got him to improve his position in the kingdom and to take post as the frontier count of Youg Hannotes, that governed the territory around Abyss Hole, thus ensuring him to give us, migrators, protection.

Everything proceeding well until that day, the day I pressed the opening activation button of that large dimensional gate——

Symptoms of mutation appeared.

Many members of the reconnaissance team died due to unexplainable physical conditions.

Thinking it was an endemic disease, I did as much examination as I could, but I couldn’t figure out the cause at all, so I determined that it must be due to mental stress being in foreign land and also the fact that they were forced to migrate, and close my eyes to the investigation of the cause.

After pressing the opening button of the completed large dimensional gate in Abyss Hole, hell descended unto this world.

My compatriots who were looking forward to the migration rushed to the opened dimensional gate and flew to this world bringing with them hope.

That disaster would not have happened if I hadn’t used the mana that filled this land as energy for the large dimensional gate.

Most of those who passed through the large dimensional gate did not have mana antibodies, at the same time as they passed through it and were exposed to a large amount of mana, they mutated into Abyss Walkers, making them lost their reason and ability to speak, and only had the urge to attack moving objects left.

After that, it was nothing but hell.

The dimensional gate, which was activated without sufficient experimentation, was overloaded due to the large number of people passing through it and went out of control, it didn’t accept our control and stayed open, and my compatriots continued to passed through the gate one after another, not knowing that they’d mutate into a monster once they did; the Abyss Walkers that gushed forth from Abyss Hole then went to cause enormous damage to various parts of the kingdom.

That was the true picture of the tragedy called the Great Invasion.

Since then, I’ve gone crazy.

Or perhaps I’m pretending to be crazy because I couldn’t bear the weight of my sins.

The people of the Hartford kingdom died in hundreds of thousands, and about the same number of my compatriots were killed as Abyss Walkers.

The one who pulled the trigger of that was myself.

However, my compatriots still hailed such me as a hero.

To them who migrated to this land, no other alternatives were left.

Due to such circumstances, in the following 20 years, I assisted in the ambition of Boris, who was further promoted after the Great Invasion, remodeled Abyss Walkers as weapons, gathered my companions to form an organization, and devoted my life to sought for mana antibodies necessary for us.

That life, too, should probably be heading towards its end with Finn’s blood.

As long as we can create the technology to administer and fix in a large amount of mana antibodies to human body, my compatriots will be able to live freely in this land without having to wear a mask.

For that purpose, it is necessary to extract information from the two and take away the magical equipment that was said to have created Finn and Alfine.

“Now, let’s put the meaningless talk to rest here and move on to the main subject. Tell me the location of the magical equipment that creates Finn and Alfine and its instructions manual.” (Vigo)

“There’s no way I’d tell even if I know it. That’s a technology that shouldn’t see the light of day.” (Danton)

Danton, who was in charge of the maintenance of the magical equipment, doesn’t show any intentions to disclose the information.

I pull a laser pistol out of my breast pocket, aim it towards his leg, and pull the trigger.

“Guuhhh!” (Danton)

“Danton!” (Philia)

After the red light pierced his thigh, a large amount of blood spouts from the opened hole.

“If you don’t tell me, you’ll die. That’s it. Or do you want to see the sight of your wife’s head gets blown away?” (Vigo)

I put the muzzle of the pistol on Philia’s temples.

“You’ve tasted the power of this gun yourself earlier, so you get it, right?” (Vigo)

“Don’t, Danton. You said you would bring it to your gra——” (Philia)

I shoot the ear of Philia, who speak up without permission.

Along with the burning smell of her hair, her ear disappears.

“Philia!” (Danton)

“I’m fine. Anyway, don’t ever tell him. For the sake of those children, that technology should forever be buried in the darkness.” (Philia)

How stubborn.

That being said, if I kill them, I won’t get to know the location.

At the side, should I have Gile to try to shake Linus up?

“I’ll give you some time to think. If you tell me the information, I’ll release you safely. If you don’t, only death awaits you.” (Vigo)

I tell my subordinates to take care of them, and leave the laboratory to go meet Gile in the mansion.
