Chapter 1068 - Don't Blame Me When I Marry Her...

In Ming Rusheng's office.

The assistant entered the office, "Boss, we have to leave for the site."

Ming Rusheng nodded and asked, "The file I asked you to, is it ready?"

The assistant bowed apologetically, "Due to some emergency, I couldn't but will make sure to keep it ready by evening."

This reminded Ming Rusheng something, "How is your brother?"

"He is stable now, but there is one more surgery today evening," The assistant replied.

"Leave early today. No need to accompany me on the site," Ming Rusheng instructed.

The assistant was grateful to his boss's understanding and said, "Ms. Lu is visiting the site too. It would be better if the boss and Ms. Lu can go together."

Ming Rusheng looked at him, giving him a cold glare.

"I-I mean…"

"You can leave," Ming Rusheng instructed, and the assistant bowed, "I'll bring the file by evening," and left.

Ming Rusheng thought about what his assistant said and called for Lu Lian's assistant.

The assistant arrived at his office.

"When is your boss leaving the project site?"

"In fifteen minutes," she replied.

"Inform her we are going together," Ming Rusheng instructed.

Nodding, the assistant left.

Ming Rusheng and Lu Lian were ready to go together.

Lu Lian's assistant came to her, "Ms. Lu, will it be fine if I wouldn't accompany you on the site."

Lu Lian gave her a questioning look.

"My friend is coming to visit me during lunch...she lives in another city," the assistant clarified hesitantly.

"Fine."

Giving out a sigh of relief, the assistant stepped out of the office. Though Lu Lian was calm and never acted as a bad boss, the assistant found her scary sometimes and tried her best not to upset her boss.

Ming Rusheng's assistant looked at Lu Lian's assistant, who just came out of the office and signaled her asking something and the lady assistant gave him thumbs up.

Ming Rusheng and Lu Lian left for the site in Ming Rusheng's car. The two didn't talk at all other than anything related to work. Lu Lian tried to keep her distance from him as much as she could.

When they reached the site, Wen Zac was already there. He was happy seeing his friend and Lu Lian, but Ming Rusheng was not as happy because Lu Lian was there.

"Finally, go to see the invisible man," said Wen Zac.

"Understanding the meaning, Ming Rusheng replied, "Was busy with work."

Accepting it, Wen Zac looked at Lu Lian, "How are you, Lian?"

"I'm fine, Mr. Wen," she replied politely.

"I told you, you can call me by name," Wen Zac suggested.

"We are working here, so it's right if she calls you Mr. Wen," Ming Rusheng replied, even before Lu Lian.

"Protective boss you are," Wen Zac commented, not minding what Ming Rusheng said.

One of the employees from the architect team came to them, and Lu Lian excused herself from talking to the man.

"I wanted to ask you something," Wen Zac said.

"What?"

"Father told me you rejected Lu Lian and said no to marry her."

"So?"

"You didn't tell me even after knowing we went on a blind date."

"I have rejected so many girls before. Did I tell you about them?" Ming Rusheng countered.

"Well, that true too," Wen Zac agreed and asked, "Why did you say no?"

"Why are you still not saying yes?" Ming Rusheng countered again.

"Man, you are impossible," Wen Zac frowned and warned, "Don't you like her?"

"I don't want to answer any of your useless questions," saying Ming Rusheng stepped to go away.

"Don't blame me when I marry her. My father is adamant about making her daughter-in-law," Wen Zac said, following him.

"Don't try to use me to get out of your father's trap," Ming Rusheng countered.

Wen Zac sighed, "Fine."

"Should we work now?" Ming Rusheng asked, "Later, I don't want your engineers to blame my team."

Just then, Lu Lijun arrived there with Noah. He accompanied Wen Zac and Ming Rusheng.

Lu Lijun seems easygoing with Wen Zac, but he talked professionally with Ming Rusheng as if showing he meant nothing more than a business partner.

Ming Rusheng didn't mind it. Lu Lian saw Lu Lijun and came to him. The four discussed the things that were needed.

Ming Rusheng was busy explaining a few things to Lu Lijun that Lu Lian was not in charge of, and Wen Zac was busy talking to Lu Lian.

While talking to Lu Lijun, Ming Rusheng couldn't stop looking at Lu Lian and Wen Zac. Noah noticed it and smiled.

Lu Lijun and Noah left to see further progress while Ming Rusheng returned to Lu Lian and Wen Zac and heard them talking.

"See you at the dinner tonight," Wen Zac spoke, and Lu Lian nodded politely.

"I'll be there to pick you up," Wen Zac informed.

"I'll prefer to be there on my own," Lu Lian said.

"Whatever you feel right," Wen Zac agreed.

Ming Rusheng went to them. "Should we leave?" he asked, looking at Lu Lian.

She nodded. The two left while Wen Zac went to accompany Lu Lijun and Noah as they were handling the construction part together.

----------

Leaving Ming Rusheng when Lu Lijun and Noah went ahead, Noah spoke," What do you think about Mr. Ming?"

"What is there to think about him?" Lu Lijun answered.

Getting the same answer from him as before, Noah sighed, "You sure are blind. Can't you see what's going on?"

"I don't wish to," Lu Lijun countered.

"For your sister's sake?"

"My sister would never like a man like him. Mr. Wen's son is perfect for her."

"So you know what's going on but want to turn a blind eye to it," Noah concluded.

"It's good for her."

"Can I ask why you don't like him?"

"I don't need a reason to do so."

"Yeah, I can see it. Without reason, you do lots of useless things," Noah commented.

"If you don't wish to work, then you can leave," said Lu Lijun.

"How can I leave my boss alone and be a bad assistant?" Noah countered.

Just then, Wen Zac arrived there, and the two stayed quiet.

They discussed the things with engineers and continued to work.

---------

In Ming Rusheng's office.

Lu Lian and Ming Rusheng worked together with the team. When the office hours were about to end, and the work was almost over, the other team members left while Lu Lian had to stay back to discuss more things.

Once the time was over, she looked at her wristwatch as she had to go home and then go out to meet Wen Zac.

Ming Rusheng noticed her checking time and understood what was in her mind.

Wrapping up a few doc.u.ments from Ming Rusheng's table to put them into the file, she stood up.

"I'll take a leave," Lu Lian informed, being ready to leave.

"Don't go."

Lu Lian looked at him only to see him looking at her as if he really didn't wish her to leave, and if she did, it would hurt him.

That look in his eyes puzzled her.

"I have something important to..."

"Don't go." He interrupted her.

She opened her mouth to say something but closed it as she didn't know what to say.
