Chapter 118 - Younger Brother Is Here!

"Hey, Yuan!" Yul greeted but the said man showed no signs of pleasure on his face.

"Are you going to keep sitting on top of that?" Yuan asked in a bored tone, the 'that' being the criminal on the floor.

Yul got up sheepishly, dusting off his clothes as he handed the criminal over to the police.

"I'll get your luggage." He moved forward to get the younger man's suitcase when it was distanced.

"No need. I can manage." Came a curt response, without using any honorifics. "Just hurry up and get your ass to the car."

At that moment, Yul was hit with a realisation. It must have shown on his face because Yuan looked at him suspiciously.

"Don't tell me-" Yuan gaped.

Yeah, Yuan's suspicions were right. Our little police officer was still fond of motorcycles and had brought one here too. He laughed nervously as he knew what was coming his way.

"Oh my god, how am I supposed to carry all this on your puny ass bike. Do you want me to juggle the bags as you ride the motorcycle? Wang Yul, how can you be such an idiot?!"

If Zeng and Yuan had anything in common as siblings was the tendency to nag, especially at Yul.

The police officer had to bear it all with his head hung low and ears getting chewed off. His juniors posted there found it amusing to witness their senior getting scolded.

They somehow reached home with the luggage having to be parcelled safely to their doorsteps. Zeng was yet to come.

Yuan dumped his luggage and made himself home. Soon he was on his way to get something light to eat from the kitchen. He himself managed to find it since regarding kitchen matters, his brother's boyfriend was as useful as plastic to the ocean.

"How is your study going? I heard the first year at your job is tough." Yul tried to make small talk till Zeng arrived.

"It's fine." The younger man answered shortly.

"How are mom-dad?"

"Well." Was the response.

Talk about awkwardness. Usually, Yul was the one who would make people uncomfortable because of his stiff mannerisms but Yuan was a level above him. Yul prayed that may Zeng reach home as soon as possible so that he would have some peace of heart.

His prayers were heard and his boyfriend soon made an entry. "Hey, baby brother!" Zeng chirped, already opening his arms. Yuan winced at the nickname, giving him a pout at first which immediately dissolved into a smile.

The brothers hugged. Yuan seemed happy. Like genuinely happy. His smile was not forced or strained when he hugged his brother and Yul saw how quickly it changed when the welcoming hug finished.

"Okay, stop being so dramatic, ge" Yuan chided, pushing Zeng off him. "It's not like we are meeting after years."

"But it has been several months and I missed you." Zeng insisted.

Yuan looked like he wanted to agree, his lips twitching to smile but he scoffed instead, rolling his eyes, "Cheesy."

Zeng smiled, tapping his cheek like a little boy before his hand was pushed away with a frown.

"You don't even come home anymore," Yuan complained, crossing his arms. "If you missed us that much, a visit or two should have been fine."

"Sorry," Zeng apologized, "Work had been keeping me busy."

"You and your stupid job," Yuan grumbled, shaking his head. Zeng promised to visit sometime soon.

"Come on, Yuan. Let me show you your room. I will give you a house tour later." Zeng hurried him to the guest room. Meanwhile, Yul received a call.

By the time Yuan had freshened up and come out in the hall, Yul was on his way to leave with a few of his tools in a bag, his expression solemn. Zeng appeared displeased. It was not the first time Yul had a call from work at odd hours. He was also aware that he shouldn't be feeling bad because he himself would have done the same things if an emergency occurred and his job demanded him to come. Zeng and Yuan both had mutually agreed to keep their professional lives free from bonds.

"I am leaving," Yul said, grabbing the keys to his bike. He came back to drop a kiss on Zeng's lips.

"Be back till dinner," Zeng said, an underlying ordering tone in it. He didn't care if he sounded demanding.

Yul didn't mind it. "I will try to."

The police officer left with that.

Zeng was now left behind with his thoughts and the worry that was slowly creeping up and would not stop until his boyfriend came back home safe and sound.

"Your Doberman looked pretty serious," Yuan commented from behind him.

"Yuan!" Zeng scolded.

The younger Xiao raised his hands in surrender, "I was just joking. Why are you so serious all of a sudden?"

"It's nothing," Zeng repeated an answer that he had said a thousand times. He had his defences built up. However, as his brother, Yuan had known over the years the true meaning of that phrase.

His brother was worried.

Who wouldn't? If his significant other were to have a record of getting themselves shot, stabbed or something worse at least once a year, he too would be worried to death.

"Is it something about your Doberman?" Yuan guessed, earning a glare from his older brother because he had dared to tease at such a time.

"Okay, okay," Yuan sighed in defeat, "Yul. It's about him, isn't it?"

Zeng nodded slowly.

Relationships were a hassle so Yuan never bothered to have one. He already had enough problems to worry about and a partner was the last thing he wanted on that list.

"He will be fine, ge," Yuan reassured.

Zeng raked a hand over his face and sighed in his palm, "I hope so."

Well, the mood had significantly gone down and Yuan wouldn't have cared if it were anyone else but it was his brother and so he took it upon himself to engage him someway so that Zeng didn't spend his entire time stressing out and increasing his blood pressure.

"Wanna watch movies?" The younger brother suggested.

"Sure." Zeng agreed because he knew he needed some sort of distraction.
