Chapter 59 - A Couple Fight?

"Xiao Zeng," Yul's mother said when they were leaving the next morning, making him look at her with confused eyes. Mrs Wang smiled sweetly, "Welcome to the family!"

Zeng looked at Yul to confirm if whatever he had heard was true. Yul nodded positively and Zeng felt he was going to burst into tears.

"Don't tell me you are going to cry, Zeng ge," Yul asked, seeing the droplets of tears collected at the brim of his eyes. Zeng dabbed his eyes with the pad of his palms. "I am just so overwhelmed," he responded, "I thought they wouldn't accept me and I am so happy they did. Thank you so much. It means a lot."

The other two people were touched by how much it meant to him. Mrs Wang patted his head, "You are such a lovely boy, Zeng-ah. How can we not accept you?"

Zeng only sniffled as Yul rubbed his back all along, not shying with showing his love in front of his parents. "Don't cry, Zeng ge. You know I hate it."

Zeng nodded, wiping at his eyes with a smile on his face. "Thank you," he said to the older couple, bowing, "Thank you for accepting us."

Mrs Wang waved it off, "There is no need to and I think it's time you start calling us mom-dad, Zeng."

"Can I?" He asked, surprised.

Mrs Wang nudged her husband to speak up. Mr Wang cleared his throat, his expression blank as usual, "You can." He said simply.

"Thank you," Zeng added, "mom-dad."

"Aww," Mrs Wang fawned over how cute he was, pinching his cheeks. Yul chuckled, now his Zeng ge would know how he was always feeling whenever his cheeks were abused.

The Wang couple returned back to their hometown, happy and content.

"Look who is shining like the sun," Zeng said in observation, seeing the huge smile on Yul's face. Now that they were alone once again, Yul wrapped his arms around Zeng's waist, pulling him closer to kiss the mole below his lower lip.

"I am happy," he said, "They accepted me. They accepted you. My mom adores you. My dad is being alright. I got promoted, you are doing great and everything else is fine in the world. And that makes me happy."

Zeng laughed, nuzzling him, "Okay, I get it, Officer Wang."

Yul sighed. This person just had to call him that. Now he would have to face the consequences. He leaned in to kiss the side of his boyfriend's neck before nipping at his earlobe.

"Then you may also get that we didn't get to do it for three days, Zeng ge," Yul said in his ear, in a voice deeper than usual. "Let's do it."

"Pervert," Zeng hissed, trying to push at Yul's firm chest to no avail. His strength slowly diminished and as Yul's hands and mouth started working on his body, he gave in to the temptations, closing his eyes and letting Yul take care of the rest.

…..

The next day when Yul came home, he couldn't gush over enough about his new badge and the gun. He finally had a weapon capable enough to defend himself as well as put down a criminal.

Zeng had no interest towards anything that could cause the human body harm. He didn't get the point of making these things in the first place. Why not invent something for curing a fatal disease rather than using so much energy and money on building weapons of mass destruction?

The two had an awfully long discussion about it both defending their sides.

"Violence gives birth to more violence," Zeng said, making Yul huff.

"It's like saying we love being violent," the officer retorted, "We need to have a strong stance for the sake of protection. That's how we can maintain peace."

Now Zeng rolled his eyes. "If peace thrives on violence, is it even real?

Their ideas of 'protection' and 'peace' were on the opposite corners of the spectrum and so both decided to leave it at that, after that long unfruitful discussion that left them with a headache, which Zeng had to resolve with coffee.

"Don't hate me for it, okay?" Yul asked while going to bed. He had a feeling the doctor was not too happy hearing his thoughts on that given topic. Zeng sensed his concern and nearly laughed, shaking his head, "You are so silly, Yul."

They both were firm on their stands on what an ideal sort of society meant and how they were working to achieve that goal. Their respective jobs had reflected it. Neither of them had a change in their views but it didn't mean that they just had to be on bad terms.

He pinched Yul's nose then kissed it before putting his head on his chest. "Your opinions are valid, Yul, just like mine, even though I disagree that doesn't mean I have to hate the person."

Yul hummed and wrapped his hands around Zeng's body. "Was it like our first official fight as a couple?" He asked, staring at the ceiling.

Zeng pondered for a while. "Nah, it was more like a discussion or debate rather than a couple fight."

Yul sighed in relief, "Thank God then because I don't want to fight you."

"Neither do I," Zeng replied. "But we are two different people, who think distinctly. So of course, there are going to be differences." Zeng looked up to see a glimmer of fear in Yul. He reached out, grazed a thumb over his cheek, "Don't worry, our differences are not stronger than our love."

You smiled, taking his hand that grazed his cheek and pressing it against his lips. "We are going to be together forever, right?" He asked.

Zeng sat up, looking at Yul, his hand still there in Yul's hold who refused to let it go and held it close to his chest.

Zeng hesitated. It wasn't that he didn't love Yul but that particular term frightened him because when he tried to trust it to be true, it had let him down to the rock bottom.

"I don't really trust 'forever', Yul," he said, meekly, not wanting to offend the other. He immediately regretted saying it when he saw the light in Yul's eyes dwindle. Zeng quickly held Yul's face in his palms, making him face him.

"I may not guarantee you forever, but I will love you till my last breath. That I can guarantee," he said sincerely. He hardly ever showed this side of him but if it made Yul happy, if it reassured him, he was willing to unreveal it.

Yul blinked, looking at him with innocent eyes. A while later something shifted in them. The innocence turned to mischievousness. A smug smile crept up on Yul's lips, making Zeng comically look at him in suspicion.

"I finally got to hear something romantic from you," Yul said, stealing a kiss from Zeng's lips, making him gape with disbelief.

*You cunning little shit!" Zeng screamed without thinking and Yul jumped victoriously, pointing a finger at him. "Ha! You cursed! You swore, Zeng ge! Oh my God!"

Caught in the act red-handed, Zeng clasped a hand over his mouth. Yul howled with laughter. Zeng was so pissed that he started hitting him with pillows to which Yul returned the blows with his own pillow.

Who would have thought that their first couple fight would end up in a pillow fight instead?
