Chapter 979 - Just Wing It

The most important trait when you have no idea what you're doing is confidence. As long as you appear confident, noone except people who seek confrontations will question it.

As I've previously mentioned, I volunteered to help and one of the tasks I was ȧssigned to was to give tours of a place I knew basically nothing about.

For a bit of context the place in question is a university campus and the people I would be guiding consisted mainly of first semester bachelor and master students. I was given a tour of the place a day prior so I had a rough idea of everything. The tours themselves would be around an hour long and groups consisted of anywhere between 10 and 20 people.

Yesterday I had to be there at 8 am.. Include a trip length of roughly 90 minutes using public transport and you have someone who needs to wake up early.

The tours themselves were actually very easy to do and the questions were mostly able to be answered using just simple reasoning and common sense. One example being: "Do we need to wear masks when sitting at the tables?" when there were literally people in view sitting at tables without masks on.

So my morning and afternoon was spent giving tours. In the evening I was ȧssigned to pub crawling. Basically bringing around a group of students to different bars and drinking an ȧssortment of alcohol.

(The drinking age in Germany is just 16 for stuff containing less than 1.2% and 18 for everything else. Even minors are allowed to drink with their parent/guardian).

Due to g0 0gle maps messing up, I almost missed the last train home. The next one would've been 3 hours later. According to the app, I would first need to take a train from a station that was half a kilometer away at 1:20 am. After running there and arriving at 1:19 I noticed the announcement sign stating that no more trains would be driving. Due to that, I had to run another 2 km to a different station to catch the train at 1:36 am which was the final train heading to my stop.

Missing that train would have been a huge annoyance as I still had tasks arranged for the next day (today) and following days due to the volunteering.

Since I'm sure someone will ask, the main reason why I volunteered was because I also needed the information I would be presenting, so it was a good opportunity. Free credits, a friend, and a free tshirt might've influenced my decision. I was also able to meet a few interesting people, mainly amongst the other volunteers.
