Well first of all, don't mix up the terms deep web and dark web. The deep web contains all the stuff that can't be found with traditional search engines. For example there'd be things like password protected email inboxes which definitely shouldn't show up on something like google.

On the other hand you have the dark web that uses encryption software to keep their users anonymous, hidden in a part of the deep web.

Of course you'll find the expected drugs and scams, but you'll also find things like whistleblowers and just chatting forums.

If you don't actively search for any of that messed up stuff, you almost certainly won't stumble upon any of it.

There's hundreds of guides online on how to access the dark web and also a lot of guides on how to protect yourself which are even more important. Although relatively unlikely, you do run the risk of traumatizing yourself.
