Chapter 421 - Profit

Quite a few people are attempting to profit off of the Coronavirus. I'm not just talking about the obvious of reselling important goods at high prices, but also people who are attempting money laundering. In the past 24 hours I've seen more than 4 requests from people who wanted to scam their employers by faking a booking (hotel/apartment/etc).

They'll message the owner of a property and ask them if they're interested in some free money. The transaction goes as follows:

They would book a certain time frame and then attempt to cancel it. Their request would be for the owner to decline the refund request and then repay them a portion of the sum. Essentially just money laundering.

This is very illegal and it is also much harder for the owner to get into trouble. Even if the owner scammed the scammer, the scammer wouldn't be able to report them without reporting themselves.

The Coronavirus just so happens to be a very good excuse to cancel a booking appointment.
