Chapter 68 - Smoothie

Anna hesitating asked,"do you regret it?"

"No"I said.

"Oh!" Anna said surprised once again.

This girl really needs to learn to have a poker face. It's too easy to read her.

Losing my patience I asked,"have you made you decision already? I haven't gotten all day. The question is really simple risk your life helping us or stay safe by staying away from us."

"…" silence once again.

I tried to calm myself. The answer was obvious yet she didn't want to say it.

"Fine…I will give you three more days to make your decision. Remember no more than three days." I said what was need to be then I went into to café. I sat on the chair beside the counter. As I sigh I asked jack for another smoothie.

"Three more days huh?" Jack said as he made me a new smoothie

"This place has thin wall" I said

"Nope, it doesn't. I was eavesdropping." Jack said

"Eavesdropping is a crime you know" I said as i looked at him.

Not losing eye contact he came close to me and said,"let's stop changing the subject. Why were you acting in front of anna?"

I turned away and said that I didn't know what he was talking about.

He kept the smoothie in front of me then sat at the chair beside me.

"I can understand that you want to keep anna safe but what I don't understand is why you are trying to keep her away from us by lying about yourself and lying about why you didn't saying the truth about the Emma's death before."jack said.

Still avoiding eye contact I grabbed the smoothie which was in front of me and said that he was overthinking.

Jack said,"Alex you lied about Emma's death before because you didn't want to talk about it. You didn't want her to also think it was your fault like others. You are a caring and kind person and you never have any ulterior motives towards your family and friends and I know that you think of Anna as a friend so WHY ARE YOU LYING TO HER?"
