Chapter 49 - smile

I immediately hid the letter by shoving it into my pocket (I tried to not look surprised by the letter as it might make me suspicious) . I opened the door and welcomed professor stine like nothing had happened. prof stine thought me how to make the cake and as I didn't as he gave me instructions he kept questioning if it was really my first time baking. as I was mixing the batter I looked at him happily and said yes. my smile seemed to have made him remember something. when the cake was ready we decorated the cake and the room. it was the first time I had spent so much time alone with prof stine aside from detention. I quickly changed to the dress which Anna and Cleo had helped me pick.

"How do I look ?" I asked professor stine.

"50 out of 100" he said

"huh but I thought this dress looked good" I said a little disappointed.

prof stine sighed and said,"it's not only the dress that matters you need your hair not to look like you just woke up"

"bring your comb here"

I gave it to him and he began combing my hair . while combing at a point he began talking

"you remind me an awfully lot of my late daughter. she also could never comb her hair properly and would learn new skills easily but unlike you she would boast about how she did it better than me even though it was her first try."

"you miss her a lot don't you?" I said softly

"yes...yes I do" he said

I knew that be began to cry as he said the last sentence because of his change of voice. I knew that he didn't want me to know that he was crying so I kept silent. most people have lost something or someone that is important to them but even though you might be going through the same pain, sometimes silence is can help than a thousand words.

after my hair was finally done prof stine looked at me and said that I was still missing something.... something important.

confused I asked what I was missing. he smiled at me and said,"the smile you had on your face before."

I called Cleo and asked her to bring ace home.

the door slowly opened and ace walked through the door with my friends right behind him.

I said,"welcome home brother" smiling at him

he froze in shock and tears rolled down his cheeks without his knowledge. he slowly smiled and said,"glad to be here".

he rushed and hugged me in tears and the whole evening was spent in a warm hearted way.

my plan had worked and I couldn't have been happier. I had recreated the scene of the day ace had created a home for me, today I showed him that his home will never be empty as I will always keep waiting for him.
