Chapter 171 - QUOTA

"The ending would be… 25 years from now, ha. Then, aside from waiting I have to suffer from consequences too? Ugh, no thanks. Let's just be cautious." She nibbled her lips, feeling her starving stomach and dry throat. This was much worse than the last world, for some reason her biggest problem before was no longer her concern. She realized she could live without a phone or wifi. A gallon of water would be good.

"¡¿Qué están esperando, estúpidos ?!" A man that was holding a rifle screamed, 'what are you waiting for stupids?' At the rest of the children who were sitting on the cement, waiting for the command of the in-charge man, along with them was Yanarym. "Levántate y gana dinero o te morirás de hambre por la noche!" He added hitting one of the boys' heads to walk faster. It means that they wouldn't get their ration for dinner if they stayed idle.

Yanarym stood up from the ground, she didn't want to get smacked with those heavy hands. It would make her dizzy or even nosebleed. She remembered that time when she was slapped on her third day in this world, that was a really painful experience, she had a fever for days, because of that she was starved. She wonders if this fiction story happened realistically in her past life. She hoped that it was not this harsh because being a kid with this kind of life was so hellish.

A bunch of kids from different countries were transferred here to Peru. They were made as beggars to beg in the big city or steal money, it depends on talent. Because if you get caught while stealing, you will be punished severely once you are bailed from the police station.

Yanarym was in the beggars' category, she always manages to meet her quota at the end of the night, so she doesn't need to steal. Even if she had to, she wouldn't risk it, her hands were too slow for that. She blends in pretty well with the other kids and adjusted to the situation too. However, it does not mean she was comfortable with her circumstances.

Together with the newly arrived children, they were transported to central Lima, the capital of the country. The men divided the new kids and told the old ones to teach them. Oddly, Yanarym was paired with Movu. But as she recalled from the original's memory this did not happen.

Guide-sama: "I helped you a little, the rest is up to you."

"You're the best." Yanarym thumbs up from her mind and stole a glance at the young kid Movu who was walking to her side.

In her memory, Movu was the one who approached her. He likes suffering, the misery of other people was fun for him. At that time, when the original turned 10 years old, she was still at the bottom of the other kids. Often got punished and mostly starved. She was on the verge of dying and Movu was keeping an eye on her. Whether it was pity or delightness he felt upon watching her, Yanarym didn't know.

Contemplating, Yanarym contemplates---

should she act meek and submissive? Or that frisky and coquettish? Should she wait two years, or should she take a risky advance? She couldn't decide. She's hungry.

They didn't talk to each other until they had reached the designated area of Yanarym. She could say, this was her turf.

"Why did we stop?" Movu asked and looked around, they were at the dumpster in an alley near the restaurants, "I thought you would teach me what you do?" He raised his eyebrows at her but she didn't bat an eye at him.

"Eat first," Yanarym replied in a wry manner and started to haul the garbage bags.

"You will eat from that?" Movu asked in surprise, gazing at the little girl who was currently gobbling onto the trash food. "Wait! Don't just put it in your mouth!" He instinctively took away the spoiled fried chicken from her. "This is dirty!"

"I know." She uttered and looked straight at him. "But I don't have a choice." She said and feigned a dead smile, "As long as it's edible, it's fine."

Movu was expecting this, he knew it from the moment he chose to do this. That he would see miserable and woeful children. In spite of that, witnessing it in front of him, right now, he couldn't believe his eyes. Especially, this little girl seems like not the type of kid who was meant to eat garbage. He means, no one deserves to feed garbage but she doesn't seem the type of kid who would resort to eating - trash.

She reached out for the chicken in his hand and continued eating it. Movu, who rarely cares about people, felt violated noting her eating pathetically. "Do you enjoy that?" He inquired and sat next to her who began to dive into the garbage again.

"I don't but I'm hungry." She answered, "Oh, Look. It looks decent!" She exclaimed when she found styrofoam with pasta in it. "Do you want some?" She offered as she ate it with her unwashed hands and Movu simply shook his head.

"No, you can have it." Her frigid eyes shot him, how could he reject her? She never shared food, and he rejected her. Yanarym scowled.

"Okay, your loss," she mumbled and dug in, she was not disgusted nor affected by the fact she had to eat from the trash, she's been feeding herself for a week from this dumpster. In addition, they'll be starving tonight, that's for sure. With the two of them begging for money, the quota wouldn't be met.

"I knew it." Yanarym sighed as she counted the money that they had earned. "We didn't meet the quota." She sighed again and the glumness was too visible on her expression.

"We can do it tomorrow. I promise to do better.." Movu said blithely, trying to cheer her.
