Chapter 78 - Awkward

Name:When You Are Mine Author:Da_Rose
Blake has been in shock since his brother said those words to him. That isn't possible right?

Jake must be wrong about it. There was no way that Amy Walker likes him.

Though that woman may smile at him and sometimes casually flirt back at him, she was still 'miss stuffed up'. There was no way she liked him. Absolutely no way!

Blake sat down in Jake's office as he continued thinking about the possibilities of Jake being right about his theory. Jake stole quick glances at Blake, he chuckled seeing how stupefied his brother was.

He hasn't really thought about someone liking him. His mind wandered to the who has been causing choas in his mind. He picked up his phone and screen through his contacts.

He paused when he saw her name.

'Jade' He whispered to himself.

Thoughts of calling her suddenly came into his head, but he quickly divulged it out of his mind. He can't do that. Call and say what?

He quickly dropped his phone to avoid the temptation building in his heart. There was no way he'd call her. He would make a fool of himself.

What the hell is happening me? Jeez!.

He ran his hand through his hair in frustration. He hasn't been able to think clearly without her thoughts breaking into his mind. For God's sake he only had sex with her once and that has been his way of life. But what the hell happened this time?

Just one night with her, has totally messed up his life. The last two sex he had, he wasn't able to get past a round without memories of that night flashing through his mind.

Her soft and full lips, svelt waist, blue eyes that held him place like he was enchanted, her soft body...Damn!

He couldn't forget how sweet her lips were, how soft her body felt, and how he enjoyed pressing it against himself.

What sort of trouble was this? He glanced at his phone again and picked it up and before he could realize it, he had dialed her number. Shit, was the hell is wrong with me?

Should I drop the call? Maybe I should just let it ring? Before Jake could arrive at a conclusion, he heard her voice over the phone.

"Hello" Jade spoke from the other side of the phone as soon as the call connected.

"Hello??" She said again when she got no response.

"Hel..lo miss Jade?" Jake finally spoke up. What the hell was he supposed to say now?

His eyes shot up when he remembered Blake was still sprawled on the sofa.

"Hold on" He said as he dashed into the lounge in his office. Blake listening in on his conversation with her was a risk he couldn't take. He definitely wouldn't hear the end of it.

Blake was too lost in his thoughts that he couldn't hear what was going on around him.

Thoughts of Amy liking him or not and how he could apologize to her bombarded his head.

"Miss Jade?" Jake spoke into the phone when he walked into the lounge. He was dead! He didn't know what to say.

"Good morning sir, you called"

"Yeah...yeah I did. I..wanted to be sure I had the right the number. I forgot to save it" Really??? That's was all I could come up with?

His heart began to race when Jade didn't respond.

"I guess you have the right one" Jade finally replied. In honesty, she wasn't really talking to this guy at all, not even over the phone. How could he forget to save the number, when he had come all the way to get it. Maybe he wasn't smart after all.

In all honesty, when she saw his call, she had almost declined it. But she knew that would not be good, since she had a deal with him.

"Yeah I do. It wouldn't have been nice asking you for it again" He said with an awkward chuckle. A brief silence ilence soon followed after that.

"Hmm I'll see you on Saturday right?"

"Do I have a choice?" Jade covered her mouth when she realized her tone was rude. "I'm sorry sir. Yes, you'll see me on Saturday" Jade said politely. There was no need to be rude to him. It wasn't his fault that they had a brief history together, she was the one who approached him. And it was just unfortunate that they had to bump into each other after that.

"Okay. Hmm - do you have a place in mind?" Jake asked scratching the back of his neck. Why does he feel like he is acting like a high school boy who's trying to ask a girl out for the first time. This is so unlike him.

"Place?" Jade asked in confusion, as her brows narrowed.

"Like an Arcade. I remember you saying something about no private places?"

"Yeah. We could always do that on Saturday. I mean look for a good place" Jade said.

"Okay"

"Sir if that will be all, can I return back to work now?"

"Sure that's all. I'll see you Saturday"

"Yeah" Jade replied. She waited for him to end the call on his own side, she didn't want to be rude again, since this guy literally has a good percent of her future in his hand. Imagine him calling off the contract. Hell no. If tolerating his presence would be the sacrifice she'd make to achieve her goals then she'd gladly make it.

As if Jake could read her mind, he abruptly disconnected the call. Of course he didn't want things to be more awkward than they were already.

Jake looked down at his phone. He couldn't believe he just did that.

'Jeez Jake, this is so not you. What the hell has come over you?' He scolded himself.

There has to be a possible explanation for this. This girl is messing his head up.

In a pristine mansion at the other side of town, Hillary was seated in her living room, her legs crossed as she swirled the glass of wine between her fingers. Two burly men stood before her, waiting patiently for whatever might come out of her mouth.

"Have you found him?" She asked softly, as she looked at the red wine with some sort of fascination lingering in her eyes.

"No ma" one of the men replied lowering his head, too afraid to look at her, most especially now that he was bearing bad news.

"What do mean by you haven't found him?" Hillary asked in a calm voice, as she continued swirling her wine.

"The chairman have hidden him well. We checked every possible place the chairman must have hidden him, but we still can't find him" The other man replied.

"Tsk..how useless" Hillary cussed, slowly raising the glass to her lips.

"What about his family? Found them yet?" She asked, still as calm as ever.

"No boss" They both answered simultaneously.

"You should put your eyes and ears to the ground. William and his family has to be somewhere. They didn't just dissappear into thin air. Someone is feeding them, clothing them. So go look for that person is, because it's definitely not my father in law. He has someone doing the Job, so do yours by looking for him" She ordered slightly raising her voice.

"Yes ma."

"I wonder how long you can keep this up old man Beau." She smirked.

"I really don't want to kill him now. Having someone to chase with is somewhat fun don't you think?" She lifted her eyes to her manager, Shirley.

"You should keep the drink down, Hillary. You still have a interview after now" Shirley adviced, reaching to take the glass from her.

"Tsk..that's boring" She said leaning back on the chair with her eyes closed and heaved a deep breath.

"I want a movie. Find me a movie. Something that would break the box office. I don't care who I have to snatch it from. But it mustn't be a villain role." She opened her eyes and gazed at the ceiling.

"I'm tired of being a villain. I mean I know it suits me well, but I want something else"

"Hillary, it's this still about what Jake said. You really shouldn't mind him and focus on your TV shows" Shirley said cautiously. She knew she had to be careful with her words else...

"You think I can't do it too. That I'm getting too old?" Her eyes held a cold glint, making Shirley shiver in fright.

"Never. You know I don't mean it that way."

"I know" Hillary said flashing Shirley her signature smile.

"So what do I do about that Director?" Hillary silently looked into space, contemplating on her response.

"I don't know...Just let him go. I got better things to put my mind to"

"Okay then" Shirley replied leaving Hillary alone to her thoughts.

It seems this father in-law is really pushing her. And she wouldn't mind to push back. Tsk, it's a pity he might just fall to his death.

But what to do? Humans are meant to die, it's only a matter of when and why.

How pathetic.
