Chapter 56 - Stop Liking Him

Name:When You Are Mine Author:Da_Rose
Amy was enraged by Blake's absurd question. Shouldn't he be apologizing to her and not asking dumb questions? She'd love to roll her eyes at him, but that would be so rude, since he was still her boss.

She expected nothing but a sincere apology from him, especially after making so much effort for his birthday. How did she come to like this guy? If it was something she could help, she'd definitely stop liking him. But who was she kidding? The mere sight of him alone was making her heart skip beats and that boyish smile on his face wanted to make her kiss him.

Amy reprimanded her thoughts. She shouldn't get carried away by his mesmerizing presence and forget that she was supposed to be angry at him.

"Yeah he is" Amy replied with a straight face. Blake could sense the coldness in a voice. He didn't know what or who could have made her unhappy this morning.

"I wouldn't have thought you were his sister" Blake said as he looked at her face trying to look for any form of resemblance. He could swear that she didn't look a bit like her brothers.

He noticed a frown form across her face.

"And why would you say that?" Amy asked staring pointedly at him. Blake almost smiled at that angry face she was pulling at him. It looked kind of cute.

"It's just that, you look more prettier" He said with a smile making her blush. Amy lowered her head to face the monitor, in an attempt to hide her flushed cheeks from him. What was wrong with him? Why was he messing with her heart with such words, and with that cute face of his? She thought to herself as tried her best to stay angry at him.

No, she wasn't going to give in to his sweet talks. She pulled herself together before raising her gaze to him.

"I guess it must be my good genes" Amy replied back with that straight look as usual. Blake stared at her in disbelief. Wasn't her response supposed to be a thank you? How conceited.

Blake watched as Amy focused her attention on the monitor, without paying much attention to him as she usually did. He could tell something was wrong with her.

"Thank you for the gift. It was my favorite" He said making Amy raise her gaze to him. Took him long enough to say that.

"You're welcome" She replied curtly before returning her attention to the computer. Sincerely, she couldn't make sense of what she was typing at the moment. Blake's presence was making her lose her concentration. She would love to talk to him as usual, and probably use this opportunity to get closer to him, since this was the first time he had come to talk to her at his own will. But she was still too vexed to do all that.

"I'll see around" Blake said as he got ready to leave. He didn't want to bother her as it seemed she was busy at the moment.

He turned back to look at her. "Walker!" He called out, gaining her attention as well as that of her other colleagues. "You looked beautiful last night" He said with a smile. Amy's lips curved upwards, just as she was about to smile back and mutter a thank you, Blake turned to Cassandra and said, "And you too Cassie" as he winked at her.

Amy's smile slowly dissappeared and a frown formed across her face as she silently glared at him.

Couldn't he do something nice for once? Why must he flirt around all the time? She screamed in her head. It's now official, she must stop liking him, else she might just murder him out of anger or jealousy.

*********

Jade could hear Cale calling out her name as he hurried up to her. She didn't think she was obligated to answer him whenever he calls her.

Jade heard his steps closely approaching and she slowed down her steps but she didn't stop walking. She knew there was no point of escaping him.

Jade stopped when she felt a hand forcefully stop her. She didn't need to look at those hands to know who it was.

"What was the meaning of that?" Cale asked angrily with a deep frown on his face.

"Let go of me" Jade said coldly as she eyed as his hands on her arm. Cale removed his hands from her, but his looks didn't change a bit.

"Jade what did you just do?" Cale asked again a bit more angry than he was seconds ago.

"What did it look like?" Jade asked back defiantly.

"You promised..."

"I promised what? Being a fool?" Jade asked. Cale could feel his anger slowly dissipitate when he heard her. He didn't know what to say as his word got stuck in his throat.

"I'm not a fool Cale. The fact that I loved you does not mean I should be treated be treated like one" Jade said.

"I didn't see you as one. Come on Jade, I apologized didn't I?" Cale asked softly. He knew Jade was still angry at him, and he could only try to coax her.

"This is not about you or your... supposed fiancee" She said as she turned to look at Stephanie who was approaching them. "This is for me. I know I deserve better and that's me reaching for it" Jade said with a serious expression.

"But what about us? What about you agreeing to help me?" Cale asked anxiously as he took a step closer to her.

"Have you ever loved me?" Jade suprisingly asked. She had no intentions of asking such a question, but right now, she felt she deserved to know.

Has Cale ever meant the words he had said to her while they were still together?

Was this 'Us' ever real?

She couldn't have been too daft not to have noticed that she had been used all this years right? There must have been a point where he must have loved her, because that could be the reason why she had loved him back so blindly.

Cale was shocked by Jade's abrupt question. She had taken him unaware by asking him that. He lowered his eyes slightly as they darted back and forth.

Jade paid attention to Cale's reaction and she noticed his hesitation, which made her heart squeeze tightly. Indeed she has been a fool!

Cale knew he shouldn't have hesitated if he really wanted Jade to help him. Securing this deal was definitely going to land a promotion as a director, thus he had to play his cards right. He cussed himself inwardly for making such a slop.

He gazed back at Jade, "I'm..."

"Save it. It's good things happened this way. But just so you know that contract is mine"

"Says who?" Stephanie said as she walked past Cale and stood in front of Jade, eyeing her dangerously.

Jade didn't bother to reply her. She didn't think she was worth the stress. In fact, none of them were. She turned to leave when Stephanie opened her mouth and said, "If you really want to know Cale never loved you. It has always been me and never you" Stephanie said spitefully.

"Stephanie!!" Cale tried to stop her from fueling Jade's anger. But Stephanie didn't mind him.

"You mean nothing to him. Absolutely nothing. And if you think pulling such a stunt would make him love you..." She paused and scoffed, "Then you must be dreaming, because he is mine and so is that contract" Stephanie added in a threatening tone.

"Then you can keep him as long as you want" Jade said indifferent before walking away.. She didn't bother to pay one last look to them, most especially Cale who was fuming with anger with his fist balled.
