Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Empty. It was as if the ground had collapsed. Seen in a circle, it was so huge and so dark that they couldn’t stand on the edge to see the other edge.

They stood on the edge of the void, watching the last disease remaining in the world. It was futile to keep looking at this. The endless void seemed to say that they were living in this unfinished world and that this world was still so lacking.

Pong.

The vial opening made a sound. There was no wind blowing, so the blood of the sacrifice flowed out of the bottle as it was.

After draining all the blood into the void, when they were about to let go of the bottle.

Thump.

The ground shook.

Thump.

Once more, the ground shook.

One of the priests almost lost their balance and fell into the void but hurriedly retreated. Everyone in the place was perplexed.

“What is this?”

“I’ve never seen anything like this before—”

Thump.

The shaking finally ended, and another anomaly occurred. The sky darkened, and the sun was covered.

“Ah… rain…?”

Drip, drip.

Drops of wet stuff fell from the sky. The rapidly darkening sky soon sent heavy rain down to the ground.

The weather in Sanctuary would not change so suddenly. It was an extraordinary event that no one had prepared for or expected. The priests that got soaking wet looked at each other in bewilderment.

It wasn’t just the weather that caused the change. Until now, when the summoning ceremony was performed, the life to be sacrificed was treated hospitably, and the prepared sacrifice was sent to the void, emotions that no one other than Weed had felt swept through them.

Looking at each other, the priests of the World Tree noticed their own changes as well.

While it was covered by the rain, it was visible.

All of them were crying.

Weed was taken aback. Even though he knew everything that happened inside the sanctuary, he couldn’t predict the rain this time. He felt like the ground where his body was supposed to be was shaking, yet he couldn’t figure out exactly what was going on.

Other things were more important to him than that.

“Hht, ahh…”

“Hana, what’s wrong with you? Are you okay?”

“Ah, heuk…”

He was guiding the surroundings so that Hana, who had to move her body steadily, could walk without burden. As soon as he sensitively felt the vibration from a distance, she suddenly collapsed. How taken aback he was because it rained all of a sudden.

Taking the liberty of placing her on his back and running, Weed entered the room and examined her complexion. Hana was biting her lip as if something was painful. Her shoulders trembled pitifully, and her complexion grew pale. It wasn’t just because her body was wet and cold.

He handed over saliva in the morning, so she shouldn’t feel any pain, at least not until tonight.

While he was examining her condition seriously, Hana crouched down, groaning like an animal in pain. Weed’s complexion became pale as well.

‘…What did I do with her all day? Why is she like this?’

He didn’t take his eyes off her all day and remembered everything that had happened.

Weed quickly traced his memory of today from the most recent order. Right before she collapsed, Hana was walking in the grass. Everywhere she walked, he made various grasses and flowers grow, and she was very surprised. He constantly checked what color she liked and what would grab her attention, even for a few more seconds.

Still not sure, he couldn’t stand it and asked.

“Do you like any of these?”

“I like everything. Everything’s nice. Actually, I like everything here. Especially…”

Weed was very overwhelmed by her words. He couldn’t pinpoint exactly where she had lived when she told him about it.

She said that this place and that place were not so different that it was not difficult to understand. It was quite interesting to tell stories about the world’s geography, magic, and other races, including humans. In particular, the humans are pretty much anything he knows.

The world he lived in was less than complete, so they had to borrow power from a world far more perfect than this one.

As they opened the dimensional passage and got help from creatures from the other world, the world got better and better. If, in Shin Hana’s eyes, who came from an already completed world, the place and this place were almost the same, wouldn’t it make sense to think that what they’d done so far has been successful?

That was why he was happy.

In the meantime, he had cultivated the sanctuary and worked endlessly. Weed was confident that the place she lived in was quite beautiful. When she gave compliments about this place, emotions filled him.

He was overjoyed.

Still, he was a little worried that there might be something missing in her eyes.

There were few people living inside the sanctuary. Therefore, large-scale cities or kingdoms were not formed like humans living in groups.

Although the place where he lived was a bit formal, most other races easily got lost inside the sanctuary. There were many trees, and the grass grew thick. Perhaps those who were not of the forest tribe would not be able to find their way properly.

In the first place, they didn’t even allow outsiders to enter.

In order to move to a place like this, a guide was needed. For Hana, of course, Weed stepped out. From his point of view, who had checked all of her reactions, she seemed to like staying here quite a bit. She said so, too.

“I like trees. I like grass… it was the first time I’ve ever seen a room that looked like a nobleman’s room with grass like that. After all, trees and lawns saved my life when I was young, right? I can’t help but like it.”

Hana added a little joke and laughed, that was why it felt so good. Whether it was a joke or not, he was very happy. She said she liked trees, so who in the sanctuary wouldn’t be happy?

She also mentioned that she was on vacation and had originally wanted to spend a couple of months in a place like this, though she ended up didn’t. While it was different from her plan, she rather liked staying here.

Weed didn’t know how pretty she was when she laughed that he didn’t have to be sorry for calling her to a place like this by mistake.

No.

No. She didn’t know how grateful he was.

So, he always wanted to guarantee her a comfortable life. Among them, she thought that pain relief was the basic of basics. Because of that, this situation was even more frustrating.

“Ah, uh… ah-huk…”

“Hana, calm down. Is there any problem? Hana?”

Weed handed saliva to her every morning so that Hana, who had to constantly take painkillers, would not get sick in the slightest. If possible, he gave an effort to ensure that the medicinal effect lasted throughout the day.

‘…Could I have made a mistake this morning?’

Kissing her sometimes makes him lose his temper. It was because she was so sweet that he would swallow all her saliva, forgetting to hand it over. No, not today. He remembered that he did at first, if only briefly, but later she breathed comfortably.

The pain relief was supposed to last at least until tonight. Moreover, it was immediately after hearing a detailed explanation of what kind of pain she was suffering from.

He was able to handle the medicinal effects more skillfully.

That said, there was absolutely no reason for her to suffer from pain now unless she suffered enough pain to be shocked.

“Ugh, Weed… what, what did you just say?”

“Hana?”

“You called me. Uh, where did we go? Where are you talking about, uh, where… it, it hurts…”

“Hana, who are you talking to? Can you hear me now?”

“Hu-uhk!”

Hana whimpered and said something incomprehensible. Was it painful enough to hear hallucinations or to the point of saying nonsense? Still, he couldn’t figure out what the hell could have caused this.

It showed how sick she was that she even showed tears.

Unfortunately, she was quite familiar with physical pain from her childhood. Even when she first suffered from the aftereffects in front of Weed, she did not cry… so how much did it hurt?

He was certain.

If he hadn’t kissed her in the morning, now Hana would have died in agony. Or, as soon as the pain struck, she died instantly. A medicine made from tifolia would have been useless, too.
