18 Monsters

The boneclaw bear started attacking as soon as it saw the three boys in its territory. It began running towards the three.

"Watch out!" Wang Wei yelled. "A thousand-year-old boneclaw bear can weigh up to ten-thousand kilograms."

The three jumped out of the way but then the boneclaw started glowing. It was a dim white glow. After the glow had disappeared bone-like spikes started growing out of its back and slowly started to form a shell. Eventually, it looked like the bear had a giant turtle shell made of bones.

"It has just finished its preparations. It grows a shell made of bones and after that, it just attacks without any concern because the shell is something you can't easily break." Wang Wei explained.

"Oh yeah? I'd like to see that." Long Yue said as his first soul jewel started to glow up. He then swung his claw and five flaming streaks appeared in the air heading for the shell on the back of the boneclaw bear. When it hit a dust cloud arose. When the dust cloud settled there was nothing, not even a scratch on the shell.

"What?! How is that possible?" Long Yue said in disbelieve. "Lee Zheng come help me. Let's both use our soul technique at the same time."

"Okay." Lee Zheng said as his soul jewel began to glow.

The next moment five crimson flame streaks flew through the air accompanied by countless off sharp streaks of air. But the result was the same as last time.

"It's no use. We can't defeat it." Lee Zheng said.

"That's not true." Wang Wei said. "It's true that the boneclaw bear has a strong defense but it only had an impenetrable on it's back. That doesn't mean that the areas the shell doesn't cover are weak but they are certainly weaker than its shell. It's biggest weakness is its throat. I can paralyze it, I don't know for how long but I think I should be able to at least paralyze it for four seconds. That is all I can give you."

"Four seconds is more than enough." Long Yue said.

"Okay get ready. I'm gonna begin." Wang Wei said as his light yellow soul jewel began to glow up. After that his pupils changed shape and formed lightning symbols, his eyes turned yellow.

"Now!" He shouted.

Long Yue disappeared and then reappeared a moment later in front of the boneclaw bear. The bear was at least three meters tall so Long Yue has to jump up to reach its throat.

Long Yue jumped up and his soul jewel began to glow again. He then slashed at the neck of the boneclaw bear. Five flaming red streaks flew towards its neck. The bear could do nothing but meet its fate. The next moment Long Yue came down. As the bear still stood there Wang Wei released his paralysis eyes. Then the bear' head started to slide to the side and fell off.

"Long Yue you just beheaded a thousand-year-old defense type soul beast. That's amazing." Lee Zheng said.

"It's was all thanks to the help I got from you guys." Long Yue said.

Then slowly a soul jewel rose up from the bear' dead body. It was lighter than his first soul jewel but not as light as Wang Wei'

"It is probably a three-thousand-year-old soul jewel." Wang Wei said. "You think you can integrate with it?"

"Of course I already cultivated to the spirit country domain. This should not be a problem for me."

The next moment Long Yue walked over to the headless bear. He then sat next to a tree and used his soul energy to move the soul jewel towards him. He was in deep meditation, trying to integrate with the soul jewel.

Long Yue was the first to wake up. When he woke up he felt something strange coming from Wang Wei but he decided to not pay any attention to it. The next moment he felt the same sensation coming from Lee Zheng.

'What is going on with those two.' He thought to himself

Another hour later and Wang Wei and Lee Zheng also awakened.

"I broke through again!" Lee Zheng said excitedly. "I am only a step away from rank twenty and I still have some blood essence left."

"I used all of mine." Wang Wei said.

"That's a shame. It is really hard to get the right blood essence for a soul expert." Lee Zheng said

"Why is it a shame? I had to use it all if I wanted to break through to rank twenty."

"Wait. Does that mean?" Long Yue said.

Long Yue' second soul jewel began to glow. It was a light yellow glow. Not that light but certainly lighter than his first. The next moment on his forearms bone-like greaves appeared.

"Lee Zheng attack me with your feather sword." Long Yue said.

"Okay."

Lee Zheng formed his feather sword and swung at Long Yue' new formed greaves. He did hit Long Yue' arms but he couldn't penetrate the bone-like armor on his forearms.

"That is amazing. What are you calling it."

"I don't know I was thinking of boneclaw armor."

"That is amazing." Wang Wei said. "Let's go back to the hotel. It is already starting to become dark. If we don't leave now we won't get enough sleep."

Back at the hotel.

"How did it go?" Li Yun asked the boys.

Long Yue showed his second soul technique and Wang Wei and Lee Zheng told her about their breakthroughs.

"You are little monsters! If you don't win this whole tournament you would have to meet chi masters. Anyway, go to sleep and get ready for the third day." Li Yun said.

"Yes, teacher." The boys said in unison.
