Chapter 119 The Elite Guard

(GY) "Well, I presume this is your ship then, Wu San Gui?" Guan Yu asked.

(WSG) "Indeed it is. And what might you be doing aboard my ship? Mr. elder?" Wu San Gui responded with a smirk.

(GY) "Oh nothing much, just trying to figure out who the new fleet belonged to. Now I know."

(WSG) "Cut that attitude. It doesn't matter if you know. You won't be alive to get the info to your friends. GUARDS! Seize him and kill the rest."

(GY) "You know that elders like myself won't go down without a fight. So get ready for one lads."

"Yes, sir." Everyone shouted as they mentally prepared for the battle to come.

At first, things seemed to be going well. Guan Yu and his men were able to fight back the waves of enemies that began to encroach upon them. However, even if they were the best of the best, they couldn't do this forever. One by one they fell until only Guan Yu was left, and since this was technically still a sim, he would be really hard-pressed to lose unless it was by the hands of another strategist. Although Wu San Gui was not much of a fighter himself, he had many subordinates that could do so for him. These were his elite guards and had served him for centuries.

He had 5 of these elite guards, all of them decent strategists in their own right. However, their area of expertise was not in tactics, but rather in fighting other strategists. They were mercenaries for hire by prominent or rich strategists so that their chances of winning were even likelier. Guan Yu did not like the direction that the turn of events was going and he knew that if things continued, he would either be killed or captured. He may be a fighter, but everyone has their limits.

Just from their battle stance and the reputation that they carried with them, Guan Yu could tell that these were no ordinary mercenaries. However, he doubted that he could beat them all at the same time. There might be a chance if they have a 1 vs 1, but that's nothing more than a dream. No enemy would be foolish to conduct tactics like this, and certainly not one who had a grudge against him. Among the 5 of them, there were 5 guys and all of them were very strong looking.

The fighting began when Guan Yu threw a grenade at the 5 of them which the heaviest of them wielding a giant club swing it and knocked the grenade to another part of the room. Then, in almost perfect synchronicity, the 5 of them charged at Guan Yu and started to fight. It was intense and an amazing feat for Guan Yu who could block or parry most of their attacks, but their speed was only just picking up the pace.

Slowly and slowly Guan Yu could feel that their attacks would start to deal some real damage to him soon. The pain was harsh once the first hit landed. It became unbearable by the twelfth, and by the 40th he was starting to lose consciousness. These guys were indeed too powerful for Guan Yu alone to handle.

(GY) "Only a fool would commit to something and get away while accomplishing nothing." He said as a kind of a last word to the enemy before him.

That is why he chose to use the last trick up his sleeve. He was going to blow up the ship of which he and Yue Fei had rigged a few before going to their goals. By this point, the 5 of them had stopped fighting him and Wu San Gui walked up to him, getting ready to make another speech. Then, out of the blue, Guan Yu set off the explosives and it dealt enough damage to the ship that it was only a matter of time before it sank into the ocean.

There was confusion and chaos everywhere, enough for Guan Yu to stealthily sneak away. Once Wu San Gui realized that Guan Yu was gone and that there was no saving his ship, he ordered for every one of his officers to escape first, then everyone else. He called for some of the nearby ships to come and help him rescue the people that were beginning to dip into the water. Guan Yu was nowhere to be seen and there was a disaster that Wu San Gui had to contain. He did not bother with Guan Yu anymore.

Unfortunately, it seemed that one of the explosives that had been set had a delayed reaction and set off near where Guan Yu was. This blast knocked him out cold and if it weren't for the piece of wood that he was hanging onto, he would have fallen to the bottom of the ocean.

Wu San Gui was scowling at the events that had unfolded under his very own ship. First, he allowed people to sneak into his own private ship, and not only that, he had let them destroy it all while he thought that he had them already cornered. This was a blow to his ego as he was overly confident about what he thought was basically a done deal at this point. It took until near dawn for him to get everything back into order and the surprise that awaited him was certainly not a welcome one.
