Chapter 834 A Puppet Controlled By A Puppeteer

"The Nalan Clan members aren't fools. They might find out that we're lying," Patricia said worriedly.

"You don't need to worry about that. Rosy and I will cover for you," Jessie assured her.

Patricia hesitated. Even though Jessie was assuring her that she would help her, she was still afraid that she would get caught one day if she did as Jessie said. Jessie's plan was just too risky.

"You shouldn't hesitate. We have one month to prepare. Everything will be fine," Jessie said, looking straight into Patricia's eyes.

Patricia sighed and then nodded her head in desperation.

"This might be the only way to clean up the mess. Jessie, I'm backed into a corner now and I'm no longer a threat to you. Please don't destroy me," said Patricia in a worried tone.

"Why would I destroy you? We are old family friends. I'm helping you now,"

Jessie said in a comforting tone, patting Patricia on the shoulder as she spoke.

Patricia didn't believe that Jessie would help her for no reason. But even though she couldn't figure out Jessie's true intentions, she had no choice but to accept Jessie's help.

Jessie had the advantage now. Patricia knew that if Jessie didn't help her, there was a high possibility that Lenny would leave this matter unsettled. Jessie was all she had now.

After Patricia agreed to the plan, Jessie warned her about a few things that she should pay attention to. Then, she stood up to leave.

As soon as she opened the door, she found Holly standing right behind it.

It was obvious that Holly had been leaning against the door and eavesdropping.

However, since Jessie had whispered the plan in Patricia's ear, Holly hadn't been able to hear any of it.

Now that Jessie had opened the door suddenly, Holly felt a little embarrassed.

She knew that as an elder, she shouldn't have been eavesdropping on their conversation.

It wasn't a polite thing to do.

"Hey, Jessie. I... I came to ask you if you want to drink some juice. I can ask the servant to bring some for you two," said Holly, acting as if nothing had happened.

She had no choice but to come up with an excuse to defuse the awkward situation.

Jessie smiled and didn't say anything to expose Holly's lie. "Thank you, Auntie Holly. But you don't have to bring me anything to drink. I'm actually leaving now. I should be getting home."

Since Holly hadn't been intending to ask Jessie to stay, she just nodded and walked Jessie to the door.

The diver who had driven Jessie to Patricia's house was waiting for her outside the house. He opened the door for Jessie and aske

lly hard to calm down and get some sleep.

His mind kept wandering to what had happened earlier. He was clearly aware that he was in a total mess.

Right now, he was sitting alone in the garden and trying to get drunk.

He still couldn't believe that he had had sex with Patricia. What was worse, all the people at the party had seen what they were doing.

But what bothered him the most was that the woman he loved, Jessie, had seen it too.

He had noticed that Jessie's attitude toward him had changed after that incident. The way she looked at him now was completely different.

When she'd stepped into the hotel room and looked at him, it seemed like she'd been looking at a stranger.

Devin felt terrible. He knew that he didn't have a chance with Jessie anymore. He knew that Jessie might never like him again, let alone love him.

It was lucky for him that Lenny had stopped the issue from getting worse.

Since it seemed that he had taken Patricia's virginity today, he might have really had to promise to marry her if Lenny hadn't spoken up. If Lenny asked him to marry Patricia in the future, he knew that it would be hard for him to say no.

Devin felt worse and worse as he thought about all this. He quickly downed his drink.

Devin wasn't the only one who was feeling bad about what had happened.

Patricia was feeling so bad that she couldn't fall asleep either.

She was very worried. Jessie's visit earlier had really bothered her.

She didn't believe that Jessie would offer to help her without any reason, but she couldn't figure out what Jessie was up to either.

She felt like a puppet being controlled by a puppeteer. She didn't have a choice in anything that was happening to her.
